  3. Washington State has a tax problem. Underfunding of critical public services gets in the way of our ability to do our jobs safely and effectively. Our upside-down tax code also means low income taxpayers pay six times as much of their income as do the wealthiest. Write your legislators today and tell them to vote for the capital gains tax. A loophole in our tax code allows the wealthy to avoid paying taxes on capital gains, the profit received from the sale of a financial asset. Closing this loophole could yield as much as $1 billion to help fund vital public services like the ones you provide. The resulting new revenue could generate funding for: Education Health care State services

Facilitated by James Sikora, with Landerholm Vancouver. Workplace harassment is all too common. As victims are often unsure of what qualifies as harassment and what to do when they're being harassed, it often goes unreported and continues to be an issue. Workplace harassment can ruin a great job and turn a company into a toxic and unproductive environment. The "Me Too" movement has enhanced awareness of sexual harassment and many employers have reexamined and strengthened their policies and procedures. Jim Sikora counsels clients in employment law and disputes in Washington, Oregon, and Federal courts. He enjoys helping employers incorporate compliance into the operation of their business with the new application of existing employment laws, and routinely advises them when employment laws change. Jim advocates for employers before state and federal agencies, including the EEOC, Washington Human Rights Commission, Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI), and Department of Labor and Industries. Jim tailors his approach for each employment matter by fostering open communication with his clients and proactively identifying strategies that will achieve the client’s specific employment objectives in an efficient way.
