  2. I go through all of your comments, don’t I? You are not supposed to go THROUGH them ... you are supposed to splash about in them, marinate in them, wallow in them, luxuriate in them, like a porpoise happily frolicking in the open ocean, with that porpoiseful permanent smile!
  3. I liked everything about your post but this. You really should try to be more realistic. Master politicians? (referring to the GB) The GB are TRYING to be master politicians, that is why they issued the directive to have 8 million JWs send 10 letters each to the Russian Federation, which had NO EFFECT whatsoever, except transfer about $56.000.000 DOLLAR (equivalent) to the treasury of the Russian Federation via terminal duties to deliver mail via the Universal Postal Union. NOBODY even CAN read that many letters. This was OBVIOUSLY a political attempt at influencing the Russian Government.  The name of that... is POLITICS. If I wanted to bribe the Russkies, this would an absolutely untraceable way to GIVE them $56 MILLION DOLLARS, in free money. It is either Master politics if it worked, or incompetent clulessness if it didn't.  Pinky & The Brain - What Do You Want To Do Today_.mp4

  5. It reminds me how Emperor Constantine stepped in, about 1700 or so years ago, and decided for warring Christendom, that Jesus "would be" both god and man at the same time .... like HE was and desired to be viewed ... and under threat of death for disobedience to politically unite the Roman Empire, changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, which was when the pagan roman army worshiped the Sun, and by Imperial military force, consolidated the Trinity Doctrine for the unified Roman Catholic Church. Ever wonder why the Catholic Church leaders have such big hats and unusual "uniforms", and priests wear black ... the color of death ... all as if they were military uniforms denoting rank and position? Constantine actually created the Roman Catholic Church as a "Universal" Roman EMPIRE based religion based on the organizational structure and titles and uniforms of the Roman Army, and the priests of the Roman sun god "Sol Invictus", and other minor gods. "Pontifex Maximus" ( Pope ) was a title used by a Roman army general, who would make pontoon bridges across rivers to attack the enemies of Rome. Constantine set himself up as "Guardian of the Doctrine", thus insuring people viewed him, the same way they by Imperial edict, were ordered to view Christ ... to suppress dissent and get the people focused on his political objectives. the chief of which was to consolidate his absolute and total political power. He played Christendom like the famous American pianist Liberace played a piano. Constantine was a MASTER politician. So is Putin. So are most of Christendom's clergy We are amateurs, by comparison. ... but the Watchtower Society Organization is catching up FAST!
  6. via A dispute broke out Thursday over whether the Ukrainian Orthodox Church should be independent from the Moscow Patriarchate after the Istanbul-based patriarch recognized several separatist churches and their leaders and gave them back control over parishioners. The Russian Orthodox Church described the proposed split as catastrophic for the Eastern Orthodoxy and millions of people in Ukraine and beyond. The Moscow-affiliated Ukrainian Orthodox Church said the synod’s decision was a hostile act and threatened the Constantinople patriarch with anathema.
  7. Serbian Orthodox Christians gathered at St Sava Church in Belgrade on Saturday to celebrate Christmas Eve by burning the yule log branches. The young tree symbolises Christ and his entry to the world. Serbian Patriarch Irinej followed the centuries-old tradition of burning of the oak branches by offered holiday greetings.
  8. I thought it was very interesting that at about 10 minutes, someone just baptized took out about three liters of water in a plastic jug (souvenir?) as leisurely as it it had been summertime. If it was me, I would be going as fast as I could to a warm room with a blazing wood stove, fueled by tons of letters Witnesses sent Russia as directed by the Governing Body, so that they could have "fuel at the proper time".

  12. Not sure if this would satisfy the courts that the Russian Orthodox Church is an extremist organization, but in the mind of many this would help solidify the impression that the ROC is not only part of the world, but specifically part of the arms industry.
  13. WHO'S THE EXTREMIST? RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH GIVES ITS BLESSINGS AND MUSIC ?- ??? His legacy lies in his eponymous AK-47 assault rifle, one of the world's most popular and lethal weapons, and now Mikhail Kalashnikov's likeness looms over Moscow in the form of a 30-foot-tall monument, but not everyone is happy to see it. Kalashnikov's daughter, Yelena, unveiled the statue Tuesday at a square off Garden Ring Road, a busy thoroughfare in Russia's capital city, according to Reuters. The bronze Kalashnikov, the man, wields a bronze Kalashnikov, the weapon. The late Russian lieutenant general is casually attired, his jacket unzipped and the top button of his shirt undone. The words "I created a weapon for the defense of my fatherland" are etched on the pedestal. Tuesday's ceremony included military music and a blessing by a Russian Orthodox priest, The Guardian reports. Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky said the gun had become a "cultural brand of Russia." But not all Russians were on board with the tribute. NPR's Lucian Kim reports from Moscow that at least one protester was detained holding a sign that read "a weapons designer is a designer of death." http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/09/19/552044627/some-russians-fired-up-over-new-kalashnikov-monument?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=20170919
  14. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (a branch of the Russian Orthodox Church) can be de facto banned in Ukraine. And this is more than half of all parishes of the ROC. The Church will be deprived of most of its flock and influence and will cease to be the largest Orthodox church in the world. Patriarch Kirill hurriedly wrote letters to world leaders asking for help. "Such restrictive religious legislation did not work in Ukraine even during the communist regime, and in the rest of Europe something like this existed only during Nazi rule in Germany," Kirill said. The new laws will become "a blatant example of the violation of human rights to freedom of religious confession," the patriarch is indignant. Earlier the temples of the UOC-MP had already been subjected to seizures, acts of vandalism, attacked and beaten the believers. Laws do not work? The rights are not respected? Terrible situation? Of course. And now it will intensify. "All of the above arguments in defense of the Orthodox in Ukraine - in practice, the proof of the arguments in defense of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia", writes the religious expert Dmitry Klyachin. The patriarch asks for protection, in particular, for Angela Merkel, whose opinion about the persecution of Jehovah's patriarchal witnesses was completely uninterested. We will not gloat, but it is impossible not to remember: "Do not dig another pit ..."

    • Some good points there Srecko. It was obviously God who decided when it was ok to kill, based on laws that superseded the command not to kill. The question then is, when it comes to shunning, who decides when it's ok to shun and when it is not ok? Or is there something that supersedes the command to shun? First I want to address this comment you made: I understand the parallels you are trying to draw. There are many examples in history of family members disowning other family members, cutting them off as if the other person no longer exists. In these instances it is humans that make their own personal law. Sometimes it's based on understandable reasons, (extreme evilness on the part of the one who is being disowned) and sometimes on purely frivolous grounds (used as blackmail). Of course there are many many different reasons, too many to mention. I suppose this sounds reasonable. Usually when this situation occurs, the person is not in a disfellowshipped state. I have often thought about this problematic and I have still not found satisfactory justification for some of these actions. I can understand that a person guilty of breaking the Bible's commands and not repenting, or changing, should not be a part of the congregation. The congregation must be kept clean, otherwise Jesus "could vomit it out of his mouth". (Rev 3:16) He says "All those for whom I have affection, I reprove and discipline. So be zealous and repent" (Rev 3:19). And  "‘Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first. If you do not, I will come to you, and I will remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent". (Rev 2:5) and “‘Nevertheless, I have a few things against you, that you have there those adhering to the teaching of Baʹlaam......  So repent. If you do not, I am coming to you quickly, and I will war against them with the long sword of my mouth"  I think just those few scriptures in Revelation show clearly Jesus' feelings about keeping the congregation morally and spiritually clean. We also have Paul's counsel. However, we know that those who have not repented are not thrown out of the congregation literally, but symbolically. They can still attend the meetings if they want. But they cannot participate and speak to anyone. Why? Because they have been disfellowshipped. So in this sense they have been "removed" BUT by being able to still go to meetings they are able to receive Jehovah's instructions and come to repentance, and then be welcomed back. Now imagine if this person had literally been thrown out, and was not allowed to put foot inside the KH. How would they be able to "repent and come back"? How would that work in practice? So in this sense, disfellowshipping is a merciful and loving provision, because the person is still able to receive spiritual instruction. But if they weren't disfellowshipped, and everyone would speak with them, then there would be no difference at all would there? Now the questions I ask is, it makes sense for the congregation, but how is it outside the congregation? This is where I find the difficulty. There are several things to consider. One is; are we Christians only inside the congregation, or are we Christians 24/7? Obviously we are Christians all of the time. So we could argue that whatever applies inside the congregation should also apply outside of it. Then there is the family. Frequently there is a misunderstanding in what family means. The broad definition is "a group of people who share common ancestors" a more usual definition is "group of people that may be made up of partners, children, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents" then the classic definition, and the ones JW mean when they say family is; "a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household" It's also called the nuclear family. We know that members of a household or nuclear family are not shunned. Only those living outside the household.  I am ok with that, but I think that associating with family living outside the household should be left up to conscience, (your first conclusion). That is just my opinion. So is there something that supersedes the command to shun? (this is for anyone to answer, not just Srecko)         The basics are in the Bible, for anyone to see
