“Don’t let others spoil your faith and joy with their philosophies, their wrong and shallow answers built on men’s thoughts and ideas, instead of on what Christ has said.” Col 2:8 (Living Bible) I am sure any past and present JW can come up with just one doctrine that the organization’s leaders had to change their ‘idea’ on, which change is called, “new light”. The list of “clarified” beliefs is extensive. We should remember that nothing that begins in spiritual darkness, can submit to clarification; which is the act of providing more detail to the original statement. If we were to check over the list, we would see the doctrines are not refined to emit progressive sp…

An author from Finland named Pekka Mansikka has written several books and papers which, among other things, look to adjust the secular chronology to fit the Watchtower's chronology. For those who don't know, the Watchtower's chronology requires an extra 20 years of time somewhere between Nebuchadnezzar's reign and the beginning of the reign of Cyrus. This has the effect of pushing back any archaeological date in Nebuchadnezzar's reign by 20 years. In fact, it affects dates going back much further than that, so that: if one reads that the Battle of Carchemish happened on the archaeological date of 605 BCE, the WTS date will be 605+20=625 BCE if the Battle …

Ah, rats. In preparing the Dear Mr. Putin for print, I’ve come to think that it is not very good. I don’t like it. It was too much of a rush job. About 50% is good. But it is not integrated well. I am giving it a thorough shakedown before print. I’ll bet I can say everything I mean to say in 3/4 the words, maybe even 2/3. Part of the problem is that the ebook doesn’t know what it wants to be. Is it a chronicler of events? The event are truly horrific, and they get worse by the day. Or is it a vehicle for me to witness to my faith as JW? It is both, actually, but these are not easily combined. Rather than each one buttressing the other, I think I have each one de…

There is a revealing comment made on a recent organization’s video about trials JWs may face, that would test their faith and hope. The speaker referred to these times as “storms”, using the account of Peter walking toward Jesus on the water, and how he temporarily lost faith before taking hold of Jesus’ hand. (Matt 14:22-33) One example that he gave of someone’s ‘temporary, momentary weakness of faith’, was of a missionary couple who was sent home after many years in service. This was referred to as “adjustments that affect our privileges in service”. Apparently, this “privilege” to serve the organization in this capacity, came to an end. The person claimed to lose …

onscientious objectors increasingly face second prosecutions for continuing to refuse compulsory military service. On 11 January, a court in Lebap Region sentenced 20-year-old Jehovah's Witness Ruslan Artykmuradov to two years in a strict regime labour camp, his second jailing on the same charges. On 30 December 2020, Danev District Prosecutor's Office informed four other Jehovah's Witnesses they face second prosecutions. All had offered to do an alternative, civilian service. On 11 January, four weeks after his arrest, a court in Turkmenistan's eastern Lebap Region sentenced 20-year-old Jehovah's Witness conscientious objector Ruslan Artykmuradov to two years in a s…

THE Jehovah’s Witnesses released the New World Translation in 33 languages in 2020—the most in any year since releasing its first translation in 1950. As of Dec. 31, 2020, the New World Translation has been published in 195 languages. https://www.sunstar.com.ph/article/1882628/Tacloban/Feature/Jehovahs-Witnesses-releases-Bible-in-33-languages One of many milestones in its 2020 translation work was reached on Feb. 15, when Geoffrey Jackson, a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses, announced the completion of thefirst complete Bible in American Sign Language. Speaking at the Witnesses’ release event in Florida, Jackson said: “As far as we know,…

“American scholar of religion Holly Folk show[s] ...that, although there have been cases of sexual abuse by members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the number of perpetrators is not higher, and may actually be significantly lower, when compared to the prevalence of sexual abuse in other religions and in our modern societies in general. It is also not true, Folk said, that Jehovah’s Witnesses oppose reporting of cases of sexual abuse to secular authorities when it is mandated by the laws, nor that they sanction those who report. When governmental documents or media repeat unfounded allegations by anti-cultists, or single out Jehovah’s Witnesses falsely alleging that sexual abu…

Out walking today I noticed how people are avoiding each other more then ever. They look at each other as if they do not trust each other. Of course the 'virus' may be the main problem but is it the only problem. Naming it 'social distancing' did no help, but was that done deliberately. It brought to mind the words from the scriptures 'like sheep without a shepherd'. I often think it is my 'old age' that puts fear into me. When I was young I longed for 'excitement' but now I just want 'peace and security'. It is impossible to separate happenings in this world from God's word..... 2021, a 'new year' but it will of course bring with it new problems. I am in England b…

Still questioning the name Jehovah, i had a thought, as per the heading. The name Jehovah was well known, a long time before the JWs invented themselves. And it seems the leaders knew that YAHWEH was favoured by most Hebrew scholars. INSIGHT ON THE SCRIPTURES Correct Pronunciation of the Divine Name. “Jehovah” is the best known English pronunciation of the divine name, although “Yahweh” is favored by most Hebrew scholars. The oldest Hebrew manuscripts present the name in the form of four consonants, commonly called the Tetragrammaton (from Greek te·tra-, meaning “four,” and gramma, “letter”). These four letters (written from right to left) are a…

Well at least Theologians are beginning to see how CORRECT the Watchtower is by them demonstrating in their new Bible Studies the 3 Babylonian deportations of the Judeans. However, they still have to conjoin the fall of Jerusalem from 586 BC to an earlier date written in human history and scripture. An honest assessment, that can’t be found here by questionable people. NIV, Bible Study has been introduced here, not to show the publishing house but the actions that are now being considered and printed that agrees in similar fashion with the Watchtower. If they are willing to reconsider that stance, then it shouldn’t be a problem about 1914. The NIV Stud…

I was wondering which has the most physical security ? It seems to me that people can and did just 'walk into' the Congress building, but, I think Warwick has security gates and 'guards'. I wondered also if Warwick has a stash of 'arms & ammo' as I remember a couple of 'brothers' having a 'house full' of firearms and almost bragging about it. I did hear rumour that Warwick has bunkers too. And I would think they have a large amout of food storage. Um, add all this up with the fact that the GB have said that JW's must obey instruction, even if they do not understand it. Now all that may sound OTT, but, i was also wondering what laws the USA …

https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/plan-transform-torquay-jehovahs-witnesses-4862265 Another Kingdom Hall sold off. Neighbours are objecting to plans to convert a former religious hall into three homes in a narrow Torquay street. Larkmead Homes has applied for planning permission to demolish part of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for the scheme in St James Place, off Babbacombe Down Road. Neighbours have submitted objections, including opposition to the design and position of new windows from the proposed development facing their homes. Planning officers are recommending approval with conditions at a meeting of Torbay Council’s planning committe…

The disciples of Christ had the Hebrew scriptures. Ah but they had more, they had the direct words of Jesus himself. They were also anointed of God's Holy Spirit. So what of today ? Well we have the 'Bible' 'in full', but translated by probably hundreds of different people, in many different ways. Most people (hopefully) have a reasonable education and therefore can read, and hopefully have a printed Bible available, or internet access. But what more is necessary ? With Bible knowledge one can build faith in God, and with prayer one can upbuild that faith. But what more is needed ? I'm asking because this forum is becoming an arguement centre of those …

We know that dates like 1513 BCE, 606 BCE, 587 BCE, 539 BCE, 70 CE (or AD), don't occur in the Bible, nor in the ancient astronomical diaries either. If we can pin a specific astronomical event to a record of any of Nebuchadnezzar's years, it would help. But we don't need those kinds dates yet. We can get them later. The first thing we need to do is to figure out where the variously listed kings fit in our timeline relative to each other. If we knew the order of the kings in succession and knew how long they each ruled for, we could at least create a "relative" timeline. So. To begin. Do ancient records provide an agreed upon list of kings, their order of succes…

Under another recent topic, still actively ongoing, Anna brought up how most Witnesses don't study the issue for themselves and rely on articles such as the following one she mentioned. I'll give it a try. Here's part one (in my next post). Anyone really interested should check the link on JW.ORG, because I will be skipping some of the less interesting dialogue between Cameron [JW Bible study conductor] and Jon [the person being studied with].

Arrested in December 2020, 20-year-old Jehovah's Witness conscientious objector Ruslan Artykmuradov is awaiting trial in Turkmenabat's Pre-Trial Detention Prison for refusing compulsory military service. He offered to do an alternative civilian service, but Turkmenistan does not offer this, despite repeated United Nations calls. Artykmuradov has already served a one-year jail term on the same charges. If convicted, he will become the 25th conscientious objector known to have been jailed since 2018. Police arrested 20-year-old Jehovah's Witness conscientious objector to military service Ruslan Artykmuradov on 15 December 2020. They transferred him on 18 December to th…

Seeing that a lot of peeps here are from around the world, just wanna know how you guys are holding up? I was always on lurk mode because I am busy, so I was bored today. For me I am busy with virtual classes now, which are dreadful. The brothers and sisters are doing fine, as well as family. Some of our friends and the people we preach too are doing good. With the vaccines out there is a lot of fear in the black and latino communities, even outside of it. 2 of my professors are against it, but like all others, they say it is personal choice. Anyways.... How about you guys? The pandemic is taking a toll on some peeps directly and indirectly. To m…

I know that @Arauna and possibly others have some deep knowledge of 'things going on in the world'. @Space Merchant is another that seems to have such knowledge. The UN, Agenda this and that ??? It all means nothing to me. And I do not bother to dig, for I will not know truth from lies about such things. The Virus, the Vaccine, the Lockdown.. Should God's servants accept the vaccine ? If it becomes law, and God's word tells us to be obedient to the Superior Authorites, then who will accept the vaccine ? Would not accepting it be disobeying God ? The lockdown, once again being obediant to those who are, for this short while, allowed to have power over u…

They state they were appointed as the “faithful and discreet slave”. A question frequently asked, since they are not inspired, how did they receive this message from God, to know they should appoint themselves in this position? Use some logical reasoning; they compare themselves to not only the apostles but even Moses – all inspired men, prophets and teachers chosen personally by God and Jesus Christ. It takes total arrogance to make the assumption that God chose them to lead 8 million people, without inspiration from the Holy Spirit. It takes total blindness for these people to believe that He has! (Exod 3:10-12; John 15:16; Acts 9:15) (Mark 4:12; 1 Cor 2:14) …

The more I read the Greek scriptures, the more it is made clear to me that they are written for the True anointed Ones. Romans 1 v 7 to all those who are in Rome as God’s beloved ones, called to be holy ones 1 Corinthians 1 v 2 to the congregation of God that is in Corinth, to you who have been sanctified in union with Christ Jesus, called to be holy ones, 2 Corinthians 1 v 1 to the congregation of God that is in Corinth, including all the holy ones who are in all A·chaʹia: Ephesians 1 v 1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through God’s will, to the holy ones who are in Ephʹe·susa and are faithful in union with Christ Jesus: Philippians 1 v 1 Pa…

This is of no concern to me BUT it did upset my wife. And when an Elder upsets my wife THAT IS of concern to me. An Elder phoned today asking to speak to my wife. I called my wife to the phone then I left the room. The phone conversation was quite long and during that conversation the Elder said to my wife that I am disfellowshipped. My wife replied that I wasn't disfellowshipped but that i had disassociated myself from the Organisation. The Elder replied "It all means the same to us". Just think on that for a while. ........... That Elder has basically condemned me to death.... Then at the end of the phone call he said he may phone me to try to talk me int…

Adolfo “Shabba Doo” Quiñones, the dancer-actor who rose to fame starring in “Breakin'” and its sequel “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo,” died Wednesday. He was 65. No cause of death has been announced. Just a day before he was discovered unconscious, Quiñones had posted a photo of himself smiling and giving the peace sign in bed, writing, “Good news y’all! I’m feeling all better, just a wee bit sluggish from my cold, but the good news is I’m Covid 19 negative! Woo hoo!” Besides appearing in the “Breakin'” films, both in 1984, he had a featured role on the big screen in “Lambada” in 1990. Prior to taking to the movies, Quiñones was already a part of pop culture hi…

This is a very short 3 1/2 minute video. No speech is given, just written reasoning using the organization's own quotes. Besides what the video presents, please consider this: "And just as a child seeks his parents' protection when a storm rages, we seek protection in Jehovah's organization" (w11 4/15 pp. 3-5) "We should also cling tightly to ‘our rock,’ Jehovah, as well as to his organization." (w06/2/1 pg. 32) "There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, Nor are there any works like Yours." Ps 86:8 "There is no one holy like the Lord, Indeed, there is no one besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God. " 1 Sam 2:2 …

“Russia’s religious persecution focuses almost exclusively on Jehovah’s Witnesses,” said Denber. (See below article) This is much stronger than I would have put it, but it is also from someone more in the know. Rachel Denbar is a spokesperson of Human Rights Watch. She spotlights human rights violations in Russia for all causes—not just religious, but also political, journalistic, persecution of gays, etc. When it comes to religion, there is only one worth mentioning, she reports. I have said that all minority religion in Russia is harassed, but that JWs are in the vanguard; I said in Dear Mr. Putin - Jehovah’s Witnesses Write Russia that JWs are banned, but oth…

Someone on the exjw reddit forum put this video together and offered to share. With the help of the present GB, the debacle of 1975 has modern JWs left in the dark, about the truth surrounding its announcement as the date for Armageddon. This includes those JWs who have conveniently forgotten what that time period of teaching involved. Jer 23:16 (MSG) - A Message from God-of-the-Angel-Armies: “Don’t listen to the sermons of the prophets. It’s all hot air. Lies, lies, and more lies. They make it all up. Not a word they speak comes from me. They preach their ‘Everything Will Turn Out Fine’ sermon to congregations with no taste for God, Their ‘Nothing Bad Will Ever …
