Oh, for crying out loud! I am almost tempted to partake myself just to get Witness going. But I won't. That would be going too far.
The best scenario for the drama playing out in Russia is as follows:
One night Putin will not be able to sleep. He will call the Royal Bellhop to fetch him one of letters that have been piling up. By Divine Providence, the Bellhop will pass over the many letters urging Putin to show restraint and lay hold of Witness' letter urging him to not be such a wus. Putin will reel as Witness' incomprehensible letter is read to him. He, an ex-KGB agent, will be floored by her self-important tone. He will be astounded that someone whom he does not know DEMANDS he look up many included scriptures. He will shake his head in wonder that the writer apparently believes that the more scriptures she cites, the holier she is. He will tremble at her warning not to use ad hominum attacks and wonder where she learned the expression, until he realizes JTR explained it to her and everyone else, apparently assuming it just one more bit of knowledge that he alone has but will share it with the ignoramuses.
He will then exile himself to Siberia so as not to risk receiving another letter.
In Siberia, he will meet me, for Witness is also driving me nuts and into exile. I will say to him: "Mr. Putin, go easy on Jehovah's Witnesses, won't you? You have tons of protesters in your country - i hear it all the time on the news. don't expend you're energy harassing the one people who don't protest."
'Why are you talking to apostates?' some have said. Well, I guess it's because they're here. For some bizarre reason, the overlords have an open door policy towards them. Moreover, admin assumes it is my purpose in life to battle these characters, so she has assigned me this thread and entitled it (neither was my doing) 'TrueTom vs the Apostates,' which somebody said sounds like a rock group. So be it. I'll 'rise' to the occasion for a time. Perhaps I can make a few observations about them.
First, if you engage with them, and you probably should not, DO NOT think you can persuade them. That is impossible. You can often reason with a depressed one, a grumbler, or even a sulker. But if one has tasted the free gift yet hurled it back in His face, it is the scripture, not I, that uses the word 'impossible.' (Hebrew 6:5-6)
Second, you must concede that you will not get the final word, for an apostate MUST have the final word, and many have provisions in their wills for someone to take over in the event of their death. Now, having said that, it is just possible that Witness will not comment again, so as to prove me wrong, which she thinks will prove her right, and she loves so much being right. But I will be surprised if she refrains from commenting, for the strain will kill her.
No, I should not engage with apostates. But it's either 'take them on' or leave the forum. Despite one of the bosses here saying I must use honey, not vinegar, I am unable to play nice with these guys, anymore than I would play nice with the thief breaking into my house.
