How many times have some of us cut off a bruised section of, let’s say an apple, and still enjoyed eating the rest? We know that normally a small bruise doesn’t affect the taste of the apple.    The other day, I had one apple left of any fruit available; one which was clean of bruises, but was just beginning to rot.  I knew this, but felt I could cut off the soft brown blemish and eat the rest, just as I had done with a bruise.  Upon cutting, I could see the rot had traveled into the core, but I diligently scored out the discolored tissue with the hope of enjoying what remained.  The first bite told the story of bitter rottenness.  The unpleasant taste had traveled well through the apple; and yet, I made sure I ate as much as I normally would, all the while questioning why I pushed myself to eat such a terrible tasting piece of fruit.
Well, I’ll not be doing that again…ever. When an apple begins to rot, fungus has made its way into the flesh through a puncture in the skin.  It can happen from contaminated water during the harvesting process; and it is true that “one bad apple spoils the whole bunch”, through the off-gassing of the hormone “ethylene”.  An apple infested with fungal mold will spread and contaminate other fruit, looking for another host to grow on; and it successfully accomplishes rotting the whole bunch, all while taking place in the dark. To ripen, an apple needs the light from the sun; to rot and decay – disease and darkness.
It seems appropriate that trees are expressed in the Bible as the source of pure teachings, although there are those who are considered bearers of rotten fruit.  It is by their “fruit” that we recognize true or false prophets, or true or false teachers.  So, it is the anointed who are these trees outlined in the scriptures. Ps 1:1-3  Whatever their heart contains will be the nature of the “fruit” they produce and supply to their hearers.  Luke 6:43-45
Matt 12:33-37 -  Either make the tree good and its fruit will be good, or make the tree bad and its fruit will be bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart. 35 A good person produces good things from his storeroom of good, and an evil person produces evil things from his storeroom of evil. 36 I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every worthless word they speak. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Matt 7:15-20  -  “Be on your guard against false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves. 16 You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles?17 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So you’ll recognize them by their fruit.
      Pearl Doxsey:
“Trees are only a symbol which represents, teachers.
If there were no symbolic "trees",
there would be no witnesses of God, nor offering of spiritual food (knowledge).
Each tree decides what kind of teacher they will be,
and what sort of "fruit" they will produce and offer others to "eat".
God equips them with wisdom so that they can enjoy
      the happiness of giving
      the knowledge of life.
But God does not force them to produce what He wishes.
Their mouth will produce fruit according to the abundance of their own heart.
      (Luke 6:45; Matt 12:33-37; 7:20; Heb 13:15; John 1:1,4;8:12;12:46;Prov 11:30;10:11;3:13,18; Eph 5:8-12)

      The Bible reveals that Satan's mouth, also bears "fruit"/teachings (Rev 16:13;12:15; Col2:8; 2 Cor 11:3; 1 Tim 6:20,21; Gen 3:4,5; Rev 2:24; James 3:15)

Just as Jesus is "the way" and his teachings are the road to life; Satan's deceptions are the road which leads to destruction (2 Thess 2:9,10; Matt 7:13; Rev 12:9). All of Satan's teachings/"fruit" are lies, darkness, error/sin, and they lead to death John 8:44; Heb 2:14; James 1:15. To take in such teachings is to be deceived. Eve herself obtained this falsely-called knowledge (Gen 3:13; 1 Tim 6:20; James 3:15) which resulted in her death (Rom 5:12; Gen 2:17).
      (From “Two Trees”, 4womaninthewilderness)
Dear JWs, the phrase, “new light” which is assigned to new Watchtower teachings, is a twist of scripture to hide the rotten blemishes on the “fruit” your “trees” have produced for over a century. (to get a more comprehensive understanding of Prov 4:18 , read Prov 4:10-19)  The “new” apple looks perfect at first glance, until you take the time to examine it thoroughly and find the beginning evidence of decay.  You have a choice not to eat rotten “fruit; in fact, Jesus expects you to examine all teachings by anointed ones. It is only men who expect you to gratefully accept their time-tested rotten offerings.   2 Cor 11:19,20; Rev 13:11,14-17  From what many of us have experienced, we realize the majority of Watchtower’s teachings are rotten to the “core” of its existence. If you have not done so, I hope you search for the list of failed dates of Armageddon’s arrival, which affected other time-table dates and doctrine associated with them, such as the meaning of “this generation”.  1 John 4:1
Can you imagine Jesus offering “fruit” with any source of disease or blemish to his listeners, while he was on the earth? James 3:17
He told his disciples:  “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—FRUIT THAT WILL LAST—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”  John 15:16
Would this be possible without the light of life from the Son?  John 1:1,4;8:12
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light— 9 for the fruit of the light consists of all goodness, righteousness, and truth -  10 testing what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what is done by them in secret.  Eph 5:8-12
JWs, would you say your leaders’ “fruit” concerning the many historical changes to “this generation” ripened in the light of Christ, or did each new version emerge from the same diseased bunch, harboring mold in some dark WT cellar? It is a fact that many fruitless, worthless teachings have been tossed out by the organization. Titus 1:15,16  Will there be more?  The Bible states “Wormwood’s” waters contaminate true teachings and mislead many with a corrupted form of “nourishing food”. Heb 12:15; Rev 8:10,11;16:13   Please, put the pieces together; through my own experience, I perceived that what they offer you as “good fruit” is already riddled with disease, spawned in the dark recesses of evil men’s hearts.  Isa 28:14,15,7,8; Eph 2:1-3
1 Tim 6:20,21:  “Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding irreverent and empty speech and contradictions from what is falsely called knowledge. 21 By professing it, some people have departed from the faith.”
2 Thess 2:9,10:  “The coming of the lawless one is based on Satan’s working, with all kinds of false miracles, signs, and wonders,10 and with every wicked deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth and so be saved.”

Study Says Trees Have Feelings, Like To Cuddle And Look After Each Other Like An Old Couple
According to scientific evidence, trees are way more intelligent than we have ever imagined.
Some of the findings of the tree-whisperer Peter Wohlleben are the following:
Peter is a German researcher who not only enjoys being surrounded by trees, but he has also devoted his life to studying them.
He is also a fosterer, author and tree expert and he has created the documentary titled Intelligent Trees, along with Suzanne Simard, who is an ecologist from the University of British Columbia. You can watch the trailer below in order to get a glimpse of it.
Not only that, but trees are also believed to have something which is similar to what we would call a heartbeat.
Dr. András Zlinszkyat Aarhus University, Denmark, used a laser scanning technique in order to measure the precise location of branches and leaves of 22 tree and shrub species. In 2015, he published observations of substantial unexpected movement cycles.
Science has also found that some trees raise and lower their branches several times in the course of one night, indicating a cycle of water and sugar transportation, like their own version of a heartbeat.
      In one statement, Zlinszky explained:
During the night period, some trees lower their branches by up to 10 centimeters (4 inches) prior raising them again with the Sun. This is such a slow and subtle processso that until recently it has been though that just a few families do it, now it has been learned that it is more widespread.
Most distinctively, a magnolia (Magnolia Grandiflora) goes through three full cycles of adjusting its branches, in that way indicating the changing of the water pressure and therefore pumping during the night. Watch the beautiful trailer HERE.

The inhabitants of San Antonio da platina in Brazil are witnessing a very strange phenomenon; a frightful rain of spiders. This phenomenon is apparently due to what is called " Spider ballooning a technique that allows young spiders to jump in the air to find another habitat. These paintings are in the form of a veil and one breath of air to take them away. If it's not uncommon for spiders to fly, it's exceptional to see millions landing in the same place. There's worse than rain, hail or lightning: the rain of spiders! The small town of Goulburn, in Southern Australia, experienced this frightening phenomenon last week. The inhabitants have seen their gardens and houses being covered by a large amount of paintings falling from the sky. On These: millions of tiny spiders. Ian Watson described this spectacular scene on Facebook: "I am 10 minutes from the city, and we can clearly see hundreds of small spiders floating with their paintings and my home is covered". a balloon ride if The phenomenon seems to trigger a general panic, it is not uncommon in this part of Australia. It is actually due to a change in climatic conditions. After heavy rains, spiders living on the ground or in des are trying to escape drowning. To do so, they take flight thanks to a technique called " hot air balloon ". " hot air balloon is not a rare behavior for many spiders. They climb to a high area and point their back to the sky and release the canvas. Then they just take off," explained the arachnologue Rick Vetter to livescience. So Les use their canvas a bit like paragliding. More amazing, according to Rick Vetter, this behavior takes place more often than you think, " it happens all around us, all the time. Just, we don't notice ". what's really rare is that millions of spiders take off at the same time and land in the same place. Angel Hair? Of course, by practicing the hot-Air Balloon, spiders don't control where they go. They can be carried by the wind. And if there's a sudden depression, it happens that they all fall down to the same place. Like in Goulburn. Such a surprising stop for the inhabitants of the city as for small animals. When you observe such a quantity of spiders that have made the hot-Air Balloon, you call this phenomenon " rain of spiders ", or " Angel hair " because of the long light wires that they give up a little everywhere after their landing. The largest "Landings" observed nearly 40 kilometres wide!

A group of Mexican women were led to the altar by Peruvian activist Richard Torres to exchange their vows and tie the knot with trees, in San Jacinto Amilpas on Sunday. Brides were dressed in traditional wedding gowns as they approached their tree-grooms to share a kiss. Torres has performed similar ceremonies throughout the world, in 17 countries in total, and has himself married several trees. The first was reportedly in Argentina in 2013. While the ceremonies are not legally binding, the symbolic weddings are based on traditional Inca customs. Torres performs the ceremonies to generate awareness about deforestation and to promote care of environmental issues.

It approaches the storm   " And the first one blew his trumpet. And there came hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the ground; and a third of the earth was burned, and a third of the trees were burned, and all the green vegetation was burned "- Revelation 8: 7     As we have seen from a previous article, according to the official explanation of the "third" which is burnt by the first trumpet blast is Christianity (see the book "Revelation its climax" on pages 133, 134 of the Italian edition). This is not possible for a number of reasons but we try to isolate and study the subjects indicated, without prejudice, in the light of the writings. There is talk of hail and fire, then we speak of trees and vegetation. When the word of God mentions the trees and vegetation, to what or to whom are you referring?   Trees In the 96th Psalm, the trees are those that "break forth into singing" (v.12) and the context speaks of those who "sing to Jehovah" that "Bless His Name", which declare His glory and announce good news among the nations . Isaiah 1:28, 29 speaks of judgment against sinners, those leaving Jehovah, and says it "will be ashamed of the mighty trees that coveted" then we talk about misplaced adoration (adoration of whom?). Chapter 10 of Isaiah (chapter suggest you read everything carefully), verses 17-20 says, "And Israel's Light must become a fire, and his Holy One a flame; and it should flare up and devour his weeds and his briers in one day. And he will put an end to the glory of his forest and of his orchard, well up from the soul to the flesh, and it must become like the yearning of one who is sick. And the rest of the trees of his forest, will become such a number that a mere boy will be able to annotate them. " The chapter 44 of Isaiah, after reassurance from Jehovah toward Jacob and Jeshurun, speaks of those who make carved images, in particular from verse 14 onwards and is then repeated the idolatry concept even if, in this case, the one that becomes an idol literally takes from a tree material (hence the tree, in this context, simply represents a tree). Isaiah 57: 4, 5 talking about these "sons of a guess" says they are children of transgression, the seed of falsehood, that excite passion among big trees, under every luxuriant tree .... Again you are talking about prostitution in Israel. Chapter 61 of Isaiah always, of which we have fulfilled the first time with the restoration begun by Christ Jesus speaks of "big trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah." Again the expression we need to understand who they are, today, Revelation 8: 7 trees Jeremiah Chapter 3 (in this case it would be profitable to read it all) verse 6 reveals interesting details needed to understand why Jehovah is so angry against the people ... "And Jehovah said to me in the days of Josiah the king:" 'Have you seen what he did backsliding Israel? It goes on every high hill and under every luxuriant tree, commit prostitution. " We know what it means and what is involved in prostitution on a spiritual level, is not it? On this return later. Ezekiel Chapter 15 to reflect on the differences between the tree of life and other trees. Of this type of trees you can not help poles to work, pegs or other things. If the screw does not produce fruit, it is only useful as firewood - Compare Matthew 3:10 Joel 1: 5 says, "Awake, drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine ... "and verses 9-12 add ..." cereal and drink offering offer were dashed from the house of Jehovah; the priests, the ministers of Jehovah, have mourned. [The] field has been despoiled, [the] land is in mourning; for [the] grain has been despoiled, [the] new wine has dried up, the oil has failed. Farmers have felt shame; the tenants have screamed, because wheat and barley due; for the harvest of the field has perished. The same screw has dried up, and even the fig tree has failed. As for the pomegranate, also the palm and the apple tree, all the trees of the field, they are dried up; because the joy is gone with shame by the sons of mankind. " Jude verses 11-13 say ... "Woe to them, because they have gone in the path of Cain, and have rushed for compensation in the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellious talk of Cora! These are the rocks hidden under the water in your love feasts while celebrating with you, shepherds who feed themselves without fear, waterless clouds carried about by winds, trees in late autumn, [but] fruitless, two dead sometimes, uprooted ".   Grass and vegetation. In Psalm 103: 15 people in general are compared grass (particular reference to the fragility and brevity of human life. See also Isaiah 40: 6-8 and Isaiah 51:12). Isaiah 5:24. Those who reject the law of Jehovah become as dry grass and sinks. There are numerous other writings but they underline, roughly, the same concept.   From these scriptures we can begin to draw conclusions. The trees have to do with the people of God , not with Christianity, it is not Christianity to proclaim the good news among the nations (see Psalm 96). Almost all reported herein scriptures speak of the trees of Jehovah, of his people ... and even though Christendom claims to be God's people, some of them can not be said that after the period of discipline, will be brought back with mercy - Compare Isaiah 10:20 Together, these scriptures speak of infidelity, idolatry and prostitution. Do not look too strong words if they relate to the modern Jehovah's people? Let's try to think about it without preconceptions. In the article dedicated to Babylon the Great, we said that the acts of her fornication had to do with the trust placed in nations rather than in Jehovah. This is exactly the scenario that you see when the two kingdoms begin to ally with Egypt, Assyria, Syria and so on. Israel becomes a prostitute when he begins to put his trust in political power and not just when it starts to copy the practices of more or less neighboring peoples (due to the fact of having attended or have allied with these kingdoms). Certainly religion has, and has always been an important component in these acts of prostitution, but we must not lose the big picture. Since this blog does not pretend to have any divine inspiration, and even make the lecture anybody, we proceed by assumption. And 'possible to assume that, as a people, it is placed too much trust in institutions? "Putting too much trust in institutions" does not necessarily mean making political compromises. Recall, for example, that Jehoshaphat never made compromise from a religious point of view (not worshiped ever idols) but his alliance with Ahab cost him dearly and that's because he preferred to have a "friend", an aid military rather than fully trust in Jehovah. From this and other incidents reported in the scriptures we might consider whether "trust in human institutions" means only to make a religious / political compromise or simply include place undue reliance on these institutions asking them protection. We may assume that, from the standpoint of Jehovah, we got too close to institutions like the UN or the like? We can assume that he abused the words of Paul when he said, "I entrust myself to Caesar" and then you create a legalistic system of protection of society that actually creates burocratic problems (cf. Matthew 15: 5, 6) and demonstrates an exaggerated confidence in human law? - see Acts 26:32 We could go assuming you have added rules, and good rules that were not necessary or be gone, at least sometimes, "beyond what is written"? - 1 Corinthians 4: 6 And speaking of idolatry ... it is possible that some of us, and perhaps more than anyone, have attracted too much attention to herself waving a certain aura or divine authority? Let us make an honest discourse. For many Jehovah's Witnesses is unthinkable challenge a resolution, a guard tower, a publication ... whatever comes by "the faithful and discreet slave" and regardless of the merits and by the argument. Is it not true that the majority of our brothers can not discuss any understanding, regardless if the arguments are reasonable and supported by the scriptures? Our loyalty to who should go? To a group of men or the Word of God? Incidentally: this speech is not intended as an encouragement to finding laughing for bias, to murmur or creating sects and divisions but try to find a position balanced a ata in the light of the scriptures. And besides, this is not really critical that we make to Christianity? We have not said or thought many times "This person listens to what he says the priest, but he never bothered to see what the Bible teaches ..."? We never apply to us the critical that we address the other? Equating the words of a man (or a group of men) to those of God, is it not idolatry? Is not the cult of personality? And without going too far or too high ... we have not seen the same thing in our congregations? When it's particularly good speaker or the overseer particularly charismatic, you not perhaps create some "crowd of admirers", again, regardless of the merits of the arguments? Obviously we do not want to go to extremes thinking that simple admiration can be equated worship but we should think about these things. Is not it true that for many the law applies, and for some it plays? If trees depict prominent people within the people of God, some have idolized these people and went above and beyond the aforementioned examples. If he who loves God's Word "in his law reads in an undertone day and night. It will certainly become like a tree planted by streams of water that gives its own fruit in its season and whose leaf does not wither "(Ps 1: 2, 3) it is evident that other trees, to be destined to hail and fire including grass, they are really fed the Word of God - Compare Isaiah 1:30 There is much more to say and many other examples to cite but in fact, even if the arguments advanced there seemed sufficient or credible, Jehovah certainly knows the reality globally, he has seen a lot more of us and includes everything in his entirety. If the interpretation on the first trumpet is correct, as it seems from the scriptures, Jehovah is more than justified to punish His people. This is in harmony with the fact that the judgment must begin from the house of God - 1 Peter 4:17 Although the scenario is far from cheerful, it is for our salvation to occur this. If we will not be disciplined as a people, we will not be saved even at the end - 1 Corinthians 11:32   How and when will Comparing the book of Daniel and Revelation, we realize that Jehovah will use the king of the north to implement this discipline just as it did for the Israelites when they were deported to Babylon - Compare Daniel 7:21; 8: 12-14 In Revelation we do not explicitly speak of the king of the north, and even that is a political power to do that. This evidently because behind this political / human military attack, there is actually God's will. The parallels with the Biblical story are many and obvious, and the scriptures quoted at the beginning (those in identification of trees) often speak of "the king far" that would have burned or cut down these trees and this would take place by the will of Jehovah. So in the description of the fanfare you would not see the human hand simply because the description shows who is really behind this judgment. Likewise the war described in Daniel of the king of the north and king of the south, in Revelation is seen from a spiritual point of view indicating who is really to blow over this war (compare with Revelation 11:40 Daniel 9: 16-18 ). When will this happen? We do not know but if the incident on the abolition of the daily sacrifice by the king of the north (Daniel 8:13, 14) is what took place in April this year (see the article entitled "2300 evenings and mornings ") then it will not have much time to spend * (see footnote) . We therefore do well to pay attention to these details. Also let's not be fooled. In a previous article we saw that the persecution, as well as expand to other nations, may include other "Christian" organizations. If so, Satan could use this trick to create confusion as to true worship. It is surely no coincidence that the events following the First World War and then the second resembled what is yet to come. The wars in the world, the troubles between nations, plagues and even the birth and death of the "League of Nations" are all events that have certainly caused confusion among true Christians and interpretation of the prophecies. We can say this because in the face of many things that seemed to fit together , many others did not fit at all. The coincidences, however, are too many to be considered random. So do not be surprised if the persecution of true Christians (which, paradoxically, although it happens by the will of God, what demonstrate what his your people) is accompanied by generalized persecution of other denominations. Waiting for what must be done, what should we or can we do? The hail will not affect all the people of God will strike but still a significant part of it (at least as far as this trumpet; other trumpets affect the people of God again). We all have the honor and, at least for the moment, the favorable time to study, meditate and pray assiduously - Compare Luke 21:36 Although we did not have any part in worship of these trees, and he never put faith in human institutions, we ask pardon of Jehovah - Compare Jeremiah 7:14; Daniel 9: 3-6 In the light of the Scriptures, none of us is completely innocent. Although the persecution will come to affect all the people of God (Daniel 8:12) maybe we can be among the individuals who escape and who will have a key role in preaching the good news when all this storm passes - Revelation 10:11 Although the storm approaches, we study, ponder, and pray     Footnote. The suppression of the work of preaching took place April 20, 2017 in Russia may not be the one described in Daniel. In this case the calculation of the 2300 evenings and mornings would be wrong. The only way to understand whether the incident of April 20 is actually the one described in the Bible, is observing world events. This article does not want to create fear or morbid unjustified and dissociates in the strongest of all those "catastrophic" sites that are so fashionable today. Just as was done with other articles published so far, the purpose is to carefully examine the prophecy and see how this decode current events. It does not hide the fact that the interpretations contained herein may contain inaccuracies and errors.

    • An interesting take with a lot to say for it. When Jude mentions these "rocks beneath the surface" for example, it always reminds me of the first time I read "Paul and Thecla" while at Bethel, but at the NYPL, via a book about Christian widows of the 2nd century. Paul and Thecla is an early Christian short story or novella with Thecla, not Paul, as the hero. It's one of a few stories of this type, probably written by and for women in the early Christian congregations. The antagonists of some of these stories are the 2nd century "circuit overseers" who would go from congregation to congregation saying all the right things from the "platform" but then they would also quietly worm their way into the houses of well-meaning sisters and widows, and try to take advantage of them sexually. I was quite surprised when the Watchtower last year mentioned Paul and Thecla for the second time in nearly 100 years, and was again surprisingly supportive of the work as containing possible reflections of true traditions believed in the 2nd century: *** w18 March p. 13 par. 3 Questions From Readers *** The Acts of Paul and Thecla was highly regarded in early centuries, as confirmed by the fact that 80 Greek manuscripts of it exist, as well as versions in other languages. Thus, our artistic presentations are in line with some ancient indications of what the apostle looked like. I personally have never experienced a "bad" circuit overseer. All of them have been exemplary and I have always looked forward to their visits, especially when hearing a new one for the first time. But I think all of us old-timers have had experience with congregational drifters, and we often look at them with the same kinds of suspicions. Sometimes it's a young brother who is very vague about his last congregation and who quickly latches on to an association with another eligible sister. Sometimes it's a more elderly brother, perhaps even a special pioneer, looking for an alternate congregation, hoping the trouble he caused in the last congregation won't get reported in too much detail. (Speaking from a real example, this elderly brother also latched onto a "relationship," and place to stay, with a family of sisters: a sister with an unbelieving and ailing husband, and a couple of daughters. It was a recipe for disaster.) The younger brother caused some heart-ache by getting engaged to a sister, and the engagement was later broken off.  It's hard for me not to imagine such cases when I read Jude. So, at first, it was hard for me to see them as drifters into forums like this one to cause other kinds of trouble, but I can definitely see a similarity now.
    • I’m not really sure what “worshipful” means.  When celebrities come into town, they are mobbed by fans. Are those fans worshipful? I might say yes, but the fans themselves will just say they they are flocking to them out of respect for their accomplishments. If brothers pose for selfies with the GB members (much to the latter’s annoyance, I am consistently told, someone said with the possible exception of Lett) are they “worshipful?” It’s in the eye of the beholder, I think. Though I have a great many faults, admiring personalities is not one of them. I would love to have a GB member stay at my house so I could ignore him. “There’s your room—make yourself at home. If you’d like to visit, that works fine, but you have many things to do and if you ignore us completely that also works fine with us,”  Probably there are few words they could hear that would please them more. And no, @James Thomas Rook Jr., I wouldn’t present them with a list of my QUESTIONS that, as MEN of HONOR, they are obligated to answer,
    • Just for interest, here is an interview with prince Andrew. It's acutely embarrassing the excuses  he makes and the denials.... Read comments, they are entertaining
    • Yes. Just watched it. I like that you talk about the broad effects of the impact whistleblowing has had in this particular area. It's not just the Witnesses, but many institutions. Many guilty people would have probably got away with sexual abuse 20 years ago, but not so much today. Even royalty have been put under the microscope. History is rife with stories of rich dirty old men having sex with underage girls and getting away with it. When enough people make noise, it can't be ignored.
    • Maybe this was in the sense of these "bad elders" rejecting the counsel given by "good elders" who were quoting Bible books and the Mosaic Law (as transmitted through angels), or these "bad elders" were speaking out against sayings of Jesus and inspired writings of the apostles, as if they held no value to this time they were in, so many decades after Jesus originally spoke them. Also (less likely) Jude quotes the book of Enoch, specifically a part about the judgment of angels, and he appears to refer to another book about the "Assumption of Moses." We don't know how much more of those books were accepted other than the portions referenced, but these books were part of a genre that gave names to dozens of angels and referenced many more hierachies of thousands of angels. Good point! I doubt it. There are too many scriptures, and too much context that shows what Paul was up against in trying to get the congregations to accept and understand the concept of "grace" or "undeserved kindness." (Along with "law" "legalism" "works" "righteousness" "sin" "conscience" etc.) Paul had to write chapters, nearly whole long letters, on the subject, and it even put him for a short while at odds with the Jerusalem council. Probably it is sometimes. But I'd guess there are some exceptions, too. For example, the whistleblowing of the CSA cases all over the world has drawn attention to a lot of things that go on in the world where the abused victims felt powerless. In many institutions, including once-hostile work environments, this is actually changing for the better. The threat of monetary sanctions has made even rich men who could once get away with anything (as Trump claimed), think twice. It has definitely helped in some suburban schools and even corporations I once worked for. I suspect that many priests and elders who once thought they would get away with anything are now more apt to think again before abusing persons.
    • The old method of handling this was to use the expression "present truth." Many adventists including Seventh Day still use the expression. It's based on a mistranslation of 2 Peter 1:12 where the KJV said: Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. The tendency among 19th century Adventists was to see a "chronology" element or "time" element in the English expression that did not exist in the original Greek. Therefore, the idea was that: even when in the midst of learning or teaching falsehood, it was still "present truth" at the time, and what is now "present truth" could turn out to be false in the future, but it will always have been "present truth" because it's always the best we had at the time. From the Greek, this is better translated as "the truth that is present in you" (American Standard and NWT).  A similar rush to see a time element in the English translation was done by Barbour and Russell and others who had been associated with Adventists. Here's an example from Leviticus: (Leviticus 26:28) 28 I will intensify my opposition to you, and I myself will have to chastise you seven times for your sins. This was originally the primary source for Russell's 7 times = 2,520 years, and the 7 times of Nebuchadnezzar's dream about his own insanity was only a secondary source. But we have since learned that Leviticus here didn't refer to chronological "times" but the sense was "7 times as much" as in "I will hit you twice as hard, or three times as hard, or seven times as hard." This was already in the context, but chronologists and numerologists rarely notice the context until they have already formed a time related doctrine. (Leviticus 26:18-21) . . .“‘If even this does not make you listen to me, I will have to chastise you seven times as much for your sins. . . . 21 “‘But if you keep walking in opposition to me and refuse to listen to me, I will then have to strike you seven times as much, according to your sins. Now that we have noticed this, we have been stuck with using Nebuchadnezzar as if his wicked Gentile kingdom somehow represented Christ's Messianic non-Gentile kingdom. (Another contradiction between 1914 and the Bible.) We still tend to make a "chronology word" out of things having to do with time when we translate the Greek word for time as "appointed time" instead of what might better be translated as "opportune time." Note that it's the exact same word "time" in these two verses: (Ephesians 5:16) 16 buying out the opportune time for yourselves, because the days are wicked. (Luke 21:24) . . .and Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations until the appointed times of the nations are fulfilled. Neither the word opportune nor appointed is found in the Greek, only the word time. But the more typical meaning is "opportunity" as in: Will you find the opportunity to do this? Will you find the time to do this? Not: Will you find the appointed day and hour to do this? We have added a more specific chronological sense that usually isn't necessary in the Greek.
    • Elon Musk shows himself to rather out of touch with science. He is using his money to make a name for himself by driving forward with some outlandish plans. He is an embarrassment to his own employees sometimes when he quotes pseudo-scientific ideas that have been obsolete for decades. (One of these was the idea of using nuclear explosions to make Mars inhabitable.) But his optimism to get employees to "make it happen" will drive some scientific progress in spite of himself. Even here, however, he has often just attached his name to some idea that came out of Japan or China or some US or European scientific think tank that was never associated with Musk. He attaches his own unrealistic timelines to these ideas, however, and then begins to lose credibility.  This particular idea has some merit, but there is a lot more expense in creating the infrastructure than people realize. There is the mining of the elements that go into solar cells, the manufacture of solar panels, the trucking of materials to such a solar hub, the infrastructure to build out the lines from the hub across the USA. Currently these types of expenses reduce the ROI value of this particular type of renewable energy so much that it makes carbon (coal/oil/petroleum) seem much more desirable for generating power, and for which an infrastructure is already in place. When viable, I would like to see how close to Hoover Dam this could be built to re-use some power lines that emanate from there, and already reach to many southwest states. Perhaps an even better idea would be to find a place near Yuma or Mexicali, so that half of the power would be used to desalinate water for Mexico and the US by piping saltwater from the Gulf of California, then freshwater back out with a mountain or salt and minerals as a byproduct.
