The Assyrian and Babylonian chronicles are historiographical texts from ancient Mesopotamia. Although they contain references to the earliest times, they deal especially with the second half of the second and the entire first millennium down to the first century BCE.

The tablet pictured above corroborates the biblical account of the 597 BCE* seige and surrender of Jerusalem when Nebuchadnezzar took King Jehoiachin, the royal family, and 18,000 exiles to Babylon - "all Jerusalem." He also stripped the temple of its treasures. Cf. 2 Kings 24:8-17.
