Why weren’t dinosaurs discovered in Middle Ages or Renaissance?

I'm assuming they didn't live where they were easily found in the desert?

Or maybe they didn't have the tools to exhume the fossils correctly?

I think humans did find fossils but they misinterpreted them as dragons or other beasts.

Some people think the first description of a probable dinosaur fossil bone discovery can be found in a book written around 300 AD by the Chinese scholar Chang Qu.  He describes the finding of “dragon bones” at Wucheng, in what is now Sichuan Province (south-western China).

Most of the dinosaur bones were completely chewed up by dinosaur Dogs.

There are no dinosaur Dog bones, because as we all know ... when they die, all Dogs go to Heaven.
