December 15, 2017 TO ALL CONGREGATIONS Re: 2017 Service Year Report

Dear Brothers:

We are pleased to share encouraging highlights from the 2017 service year report. The peak number of publishers was 8,457,107. Jehovah’s people spent a total of 2,046,000,202 hours in the ministry, a 3.1 percent increase from last year. We are especially encouraged to see a 7.4 percent increase in the number baptized, with a total of 284,212! This is evidence that we take seriously our commission to “make disciples.” (Matt. 28:19) We were delighted to see that the average number of regular pioneers was 1,225,279. This was an 8.6 percent increase! The worldwide Memorial attendance figure was 20,175,477. Significant features of the service year report will soon be available on jw.org and in JW Library, Watchtower ONLINE LIBRARY, and Watchtower Library. These figures provide compelling evidence of Jehovah’s blessing on our work.—Isa. 60:22.

Throughout our branch territory, it is evident that Jehovah is searching for those “rightly disposed for everlasting life” in the language of their heart. (Acts 13:48) For instance, we are happy to report the formation of the first ever Cherokee-language congregation during the past service year. The first Swahili-language circuit in our branch territory was formed effective September 1, 2017. In addition to those reached in the door-to-door ministry, public witnessing initiatives are reaching more people than ever with the Bible’s message. There are over 17,000 publishers participating in the special metropolitan public witnessing program in 17 locations. Harbor witnessing is now organized in 45 ports, with 4,400 trained publishers boarding cargo and cruise ships in an effort to witness to crew members. Public witnessing campaigns organized at large state fairs and sporting events are exposing millions of individuals to the good news, as well as adding great impetus to this aspect of the preaching work.

Much has also been accomplished in regard to Kingdom Hall usage in the United States branch territory. Twenty branch planning meetings were held with bodies of elders in metropolitan areas affecting over 2,200 congregations. Implementing non-construction solutions such as merging or relocating congregations has reduced the need for new auditoriums in these areas from 41 to 19, with a potential savings of millions of dollars!

Be assured that Jehovah values your faithful service and that he will continue to give you the necessary strength to “fully accomplish your ministry” in the coming year!—2 Tim. 4:5; Isa. 40:31.

Your brothers,

PS to coordinators of the bodies of elders:

Please arrange for this letter to be read to the congregation by the elder handling the part “Annual Service Report” in the Life and Ministry Meeting the week of January 1, 2018. Thereafter, the letter should be posted on the information board. This postscript should neither be read to the congregation nor be posted on the information board.

Homeschooling the kids, we used to color in on a world map each year the various countries - with colors corresponding to penetration of the good news, as in 'publisher to general population' ratio. It was a fine way to teach both theocracy and geography

We used the rainbow. Red was the greatest concentration. Violet was stone cold. Alas, today it might all be misconstrued as the advancement of gay rights.

I should have mentioned that the Yearbook practice has not been using the peak-to-peak increase as the official increase or decrease from year to year, but only uses the average-to-average increase over the previous year. Based on the information and trends provided by the last few years, it is possible to guess fairly closely. My guess is here, in red. I'm guessing that the average publishers will be 8,211,391 based on a formula that would usually make an estimate within a quarter-percent.

I adjusted it up slightly based on the better than usual jump in baptisms, so that the estimated increase will probably reach 1%

1 hour ago, Jay Witness said:

Population growth is 1.12% so most of them are witness kids.

It's possible that "most" of them are "Witness kids" if you mean just over 50% which is "most" in a technical sense. But when you look at the baptisms at assemblies it seems in my experience to at least slightly favor those converted from outside Witness families -- although quite a few do often have connections to Witness families: cousins and other relatives.

I found a love for me
Oh darling, just dive right in and follow my lead
Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet
Oh, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me
'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love
      Not knowing what it was
I will not give you up this time
But darling, just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own
And in your eyes, you're holding mine

      [Chorus]
Baby, I'm dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song
When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight

      [Verse 2]
Well I found a woman, stronger than anyone I know
She shares my dreams, I hope that someday I'll share her home
I found a love, to carry more than just my secrets
To carry love, to carry children of our own
We are still kids, but we're so in love
      Fighting against all odds
I know we'll be alright this time
      Darling, just hold my hand
Be my girl, I'll be your man
I see my future in your eyes

      [Chorus 2]
Baby, I'm dancing in the dark, with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful
I don't deserve this, darling, you look perfect tonight

      [Instrumental]

      [Chorus 3]
Baby, I'm dancing in the dark, with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
I have faith in what I see
Now I know I have met an angel in person
      And she looks perfect
      I don't deserve this
      You look perfect tonight

Mama always told me don't you run
"Don't you run with scissors, son
      You're gonna hurt someone"
Mama told me look before you leap
Always think before you speak, and watch the friends you keep

Stay along the beaten path, never listened when she said

      Sharp edges have consequences, I
Guess that I had to find out for myself
      Sharp edges have consequences, now
Every scar is a story I can tell

Should've played it safer from the start
Loved you like a house of cards
      Let it fall apart
But all the things I couldn't understand
      Never could've planned
They made me who I am
      Put your nose in paperbacks
      Instead of smoking cigarettes
These are years you're never getting back

Stay along the beaten path, never listened when she said

      Sharp edges have consequences, I
Guess that I had to find out for myself
      Sharp edges have consequences, now
Every scar is a story I can tell

      We all fall down
      We live somehow
We learn what doesn't kill us makes us stronger
      We all fall down
      We live somehow
We learn what doesn't kill us makes us stronger

Stay along the beaten path, never listened when she said

      Sharp edges have consequences, I
Guess that I had to find out for myself
      Sharp edges have consequences, now
Every scar is a story I can tell

      We all fall down
      We live somehow
We learn what doesn't kill us makes us stronger

      IÂ’m dancing with my demons
      IÂ’m hanging off the edge
      Storm clouds gather beneath me
      Waves break above my head
      At first hallucination
I wanna fall wide awake now
      You tell me itÂ’s alright
      Tell me IÂ’m forgiven
      Tonight
But nobody can save me now
      IÂ’m holding up a light
      Chasing up the darkness inside
      'Cause nobody can save me
      Stare into this illusion
      For answers yet to come
      I chose a false solution
      But nobody proved me wrong
      At first hallucination
      I wanna fall wide awake
Watch the ground giving way now
      You tell me itÂ’s alright
      Tell me IÂ’m forgiven
      Tonight
But nobody can save me now
      IÂ’m holding up a light
IÂ’m chasing up the darkness inside
      'Cause nobody can save me
      Been searching somewhere out there
For whatÂ’s been missing right here
IÂ’ve been searching somewhere out there
For whatÂ’s been missing right here
I wanna fall wide awake now
      So tell me itÂ’s alright
      Tell me IÂ’m forgiven
      Tonight
If only I can save me now
      IÂ’m holding up a light
      Chasing up the darkness inside
And I donÂ’t wanna let you down
But only I can save me
      Been searching somewhere out there
For whatÂ’s been missing right here

The previously posted WT letter of December 15, 2017 "Re: 2017 Service Year Report" was for the US congregations.
The second (and third) paragraphs of the letter are being re-written to feature highlights in the local field to the congregations that it is addressed to...
Hence below is what I understand to be the version of the above letter that is being sent and read out (in the first week of January 2018) to congregations in the Philippines.
I believe that the Philippines is traditionally one of the WT's Star Performers in terms of growth
I have bolded the key text in the letter:

      For comparision with previous years:
      Year Population Peak.Pubs Ratio Av.Pubs %Increase Baptized 2015 100,621,100 201,761 499 199,551 5 10,146 2016 100,981,437 209,131 483 202,431 1 8,900 2017   210,914     3 10,781 .
      Year Av.AuxPios Av.Pios Congs Hours Studies Memorial.Att 2015 12,440 38,813 3,246 49,798,859 268,598 576,542 2016 9,801 41,182 3,315 50,130,621 269,655 584,685 2017   45,264   52,443,544   575,813 .
A 3% increase would indicate that Average Publisher is expected to be between 207,492 and 209,515 (ie between 2.5% to 3.5% as the yearbooks only used whole numbers for the %'s)
The Regular Pioneer figure is a Peak - though I would expect the Average Regular Pioneers during the year to be fairly even, with no real spiked peaks.

Who are the most beautiful women in the world right now? Who do you think deserves the title of most beautiful woman of 2017? Here, below is a list of world’s most beautiful women.
Beauty is the most debated topic in the world, and there is no ever clear winner. One who considered most beautiful at one time may lose her position at another time by someone else. Women normally have an attraction towards their physical characters like hotness and glamour. But, there are a few other factors like level of celebrity, confidence, intelligence, popularity, and skills too. It’s universal fact; beauty lies in the eyes of beholder. But when it comes to rank the beauty of a person, it is necessary to calculate the internal beauty as well as the external beauty. The external or physical beauty will age with time, all other factors remain ageless and keep person beautiful forever.
Here, we have made a ranking of most beautiful women of 2017. The women listed here are confident, intelligent, desirable, dynamic and are very dedicated to their job. Vote for your favorite lady, and be sure to add anyone who’s missing from the list.

A native of Florida, Abigail Leigh Spencer named People Magazine’s most beautiful women of 2017. She is an American actress known for her roles in several television series. Spencer began her career on the ABC daytime television soap opera All My Children playing Rebecca Tyree from 1999 to 2001. She is best known for her recurring roles on Mad Men and Suits. Also known for starring in the series Rectify and Timeless, for playing the leading role of history professor Lucy Preston.

From time to time, states are doing their census on population (population list). Listers come to people's homes and ask a variety of questions, conduct a survey. One of many questions is, to which religion you belong? The survey is "anonymous", that is, it is used only for the purpose of statistics. Also the answer is voluntary. Out of some of the 244 countries listed here, only in 37 countries there is evidence of Jehovah's Witnesses. Are they, JW, shy or afraid to express his religious affiliation in public statistics? In front of a man asking questions and writing it on paper?
How do you explain such a low representation of public information about JW members population, compared to WT Yearbook database numbers of members - book which will no longer be published :)) In few past decades i traveled to many European countries: Germany, Slovakia, Czech, Macedonia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Monaco, Montenegro, Serbia, Italy and Netherlands. In this CIA list only in Italy and Netherlands I have found report on JW regarding to countries i visited.

      I've got an aching head
      Echoes and buzzing noises
I know the words we said
But wish I could've turned our voices down
This is not black and white
      Only organized confusion
I'm just trying to get it right
And in spite of all I should've done

I was not mad at you
I was not trying to tear you down
The words that I could've used
I was too scared to say out loud

I got a long way to go
      And a long memory
I been searching for an answer
      Always just out of reach
      Blood on the floor
      Sirens repeat
I been searching for the courage
      To face my enemies
When they turn down the lights

      [Chorus]
      I hear my battle symphony
All the world in front of me
      If my armor breaks
      I’ll fuse it back together
      Battle symphony
Please just don’t give up on me
And my eyes are wide awake

      [Bridge]
      For my battle symphony
      For my battle symphony

      [Verse 2]
They say that I don’t belong
      Say that I should retreat
That I’m marching to the rhythm
      Of a lonesome defeat
But the sound of your voice
      Puts the pain in reverse
      No surrender, no illusions
      And for better or worse
When they turn down the lights

      [Chorus]
      I hear my battle symphony
All the world in front of me
      If my armor breaks
      I’ll fuse it back together
      Battle symphony
Please just don’t give up on me
And my eyes are wide awake

      [Bridge]
If I fall, get knocked down
Pick myself up off the ground
If I fall, get knocked down
Pick myself up off the ground
When they turn down the lights

      [Chorus]
      I hear my battle symphony
All the world in front of me
      If my armor breaks
      I’ll fuse it back together
      Battle symphony
Please just don’t give up on me
And my eyes are wide awake
      For my battle symphony
      For my battle symphony

      [Verse 1]
      I wasn’t just broken, I was shattered
I trusted you so much, you're all that mattered
You no longer love me and I sang like a sad bird
I couldn't move on and I think you were flattered

      [Chorus]
      Oh! Life’s about joy
      Life's about pain
It's all about forgiving and the will to walk away
      I'm ready to be loved
And love the way I should
      Life's about
      Life's about to get good

      [Post-Chorus]
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good

      [Verse 2]
The longer my tears fell, the wider the river
It killed me that you'd give your life to be with her
I had to believe that things would get better
It was time to forget you, forever

      [Chorus]
      Oh! Life’s about joy
      Life's about pain
It's all about forgiving and the will to walk away
      I'm ready to be loved
And love the way I should
      Life's about
      Life's about to get good

      [Post-Chorus]
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good

      [Bridge]
It took me so long to be strong
But I'm alive, and I hold on
To what I can feel, it hurts to heal
      Oh, when love lies
      About to get good
      About to get good
      About to get...Ahhh

      [Chorus]
      Oh! Life’s about joy
      Life's about pain
It's all about forgiving and the will to walk away
      I'm ready to be loved
And love the way I should
      Life's about
      Life's about to get good

      [Post-Chorus]
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good
Oh, life's about to get good

      [Outro]
      Oh, life's about joy
      Life's about pain
Life's about, life's about to get good

      [Verse 1]
Should've stayed, were there signs, I ignored?
Can I help you, not to hurt, anymore?
We saw brilliance, when the world, was asleep
There are things that we can have, but can't keep
      [Chorus]
      If they say
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In the sky of a million stars
      It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone's time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
      Or quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
      Well I do
      [Verse 2 ]
The reminders, pull the floor from your feet
In the kitchen, one more chair than you need, oh
And you're angry, and you should be, it's not fair
Just 'cause you can't see it, doesn't mean it, isn't there
      [Chorus]
      If they say
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In the sky of a million stars
      It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone's time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
      Or quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
      Well I do
      [Instrumental + Bridge]
      (I do)
      [Chorus/Outro]
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In the sky of a million stars
      It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone's time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
      Or quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do Well I do
