I won't speak for the @admin since he is probably not even aware of this "controversy" right now.... BUT.... I just can't imagine Jesus Christ creating JesusChrist.org to publish his words..

My thoughts exactly @The Librarian So many concerning takeaways from this article. 1. It's a-okay for the org to completely restrict an entire area of preaching (social media). Social media

From the April 2018 Watchtower, p. 30-31. This is a bona fide, unadulterated copy (honest).  What are your thoughts on this article? Btw, I hope the irony of posting this here is not lo

The org has made 2 statements that when combined are concerning:

1. It is the exclusive source of true spiritual food.

2. Its content is copyrighted.

I just can't bring myself to understand this to mean that they are attempting to copyright the Bible. I mean when they say they are the exclusive source of spiritual food, who do you think they are talking to? Surely not people in general? Do you think that Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Catholics etc. view our publications and the website as true spiritual food? So aren't they logically just talking to Jehovah's Witnesses? And it's nothing new when they say the Slave is the source the of true spiritual food. We wouldn't go to a Catholic website  (for example) for spiritual food would we?

So they are saying to Witnesses that only those websites and apps they cite in the article are the real and official ones, and that if you want spiritual food, those are the real and official sources of it. Not some Joe Witness who has set up his own, and plastered it with jw.org logos and Caleb and Sophia images, which he shouldn't have because they are copyrighted, for the very reason to prevent people like him from doing what he did and inadvertently causing gullible Witnesses to assume his website came straight from Bethel.

If the org truly believes both of these things, then they must believe they legally own true Bible discussion and interpretation.

Funny. People can discuss whatever they like, as long as they don't misquote the org. But there is such a thing as "fair use" as well

I wonder how they could have known that for sure. Did they take a survey of 9,500 different persons?

That could be a good "Question from readers". Why don't you send it in? :)

people want peace, but the problem is they want it on their terms. This is where the devil's influence comes into play.

1. i have question about, "on their terms". Do you mean by that "by their own free will"?? My terms means my free will. God gave free will. What is problem with "on their terms"? God gave us intellect to solve problems, with more or less success. :)))

Then you immediately continue with sentence about devil influence.

2. i have question on "influence". How some person can detect did influence on him came from devil or from JHVH? Previous was presented various sort of influence from different sources and with different, opposite outcomes. Is it possible to be sure under whose influence some person or group are working? Because JHVH can make good and bad outcome for people. Also Devil can make similar or same outcome. He can present himself as "angel of light" and support "true religion" but in the same time promote his ideas and no one can/would not see that. His primary goal must not be complete destruction of "true religion" but to spoil it. He can do that in some elements of worship or in some "organizational arrangements" on whom people stay blind with no idea how something is wrong.

We all pay price for free will. Not only for our own free will. Or free will of our friends, neighbors, brothers....We all pay price on free will of JHVH and angels, and on free will of devil and demons.

In my opinion, one has accepted the true concept of free will when one also accepts the consequences of it, and quits blaming deception, guilt, cognitive dissonance, imperfection or “whatever” for making a particular decision.

Yes we all must endure consequences of "general free will concept" :)))))) This idea of free will finally destroy us. In some of my dark days, minutes, or hours :)) i am very sure that Big Powers of Heaven playing their game, and we all are Puppets on the stream.

Can they copyright the Bible? No. But connect the dots...claims of copyright ownership + their view as the sole channel of spiritual food. It is clear that they feel they own Biblical interpretation and Biblical discussion in a "legal" way, and feel they have the right to police how this "food" is used. Maybe it's not legally enforceable, but in the hearts of JWs it is. And that's what matters.

"Funny. People can discuss whatever they like, as long as they don't misquote the org. But there is such a thing as "fair use" as well." Maybe legally that's true, but is that how the org feels? Or didn't the article say JWs who discuss on websites with comments disrespect God's name? And doesn't the org's direction matter more than just man-made law? We're supposed to believe there is a higher law controlling all of this.

"Surely not people in general?" Of course. That's why I said in the "eye of JWs." Who cares what the audience is? There aren't differen't shades of the truth. The org purports itself in different ways to different people, but it's most upfront about its views to its adherents.

I think someone already did:

*** w11 8/15 p. 22 Questions From Readers ***

  • Memorial partakers. This is the number of baptized individuals who partake of the emblems at the Memorial worldwide. Does this total represent the number of anointed ones on earth? Not necessarily. A number of factors—including past religious beliefs or even mental or emotional imbalance—might cause some to assume mistakenly that they have the heavenly calling. We thus have no way of knowing the exact number of anointed ones on earth; nor do we need to know. The Governing Body does not keep a list of all partakers, for it does not maintain a global network of anointed ones.

*** w09 6/15 p. 24 pars. 16-18 The Faithful Steward and Its Governing Body ***

  • 16 Are all these anointed ones throughout the earth part of a global network that is somehow involved in revealing new spiritual truths? No. Although as a composite body the slave class is responsible for feeding the spiritual household, not all individuals of the slave class have the same responsibilities or work assignments. (Read 1 Corinthians 12:14-18.) As noted earlier, in the first century, all were involved in the vital preaching work. But only a very limited number were used to write the books of the Bible and oversee the Christian congregation.
  • 17 To illustrate: The Scriptures at times speak of “the congregation” as taking certain action in handling judicial matters. (Matt. 18:17) In real terms, though, it is only the elders who take this action in their capacity as representatives of the congregation. The elders do not contact all members of the congregation to ask their various opinions before they make a decision. Theocratically, they perform the role that they have been assigned; they act on behalf of the whole congregation.
  • 18 Similarly, today a limited number of anointed men have the responsibility of representing the slave class. They make up the Governing Body of JehovahÂ’s Witnesses.

You would arbitrate what is in people's hearts?

No. It did not.

That is true of anyone.

And look at this stupid graphic that @James Thomas Rook Jr. posts, contemptuous of those who would seek a place of refuge:

15285012_1415250478494175_17809924593013

He joins Ann and Witness, mocking Bro Morris for highlighting the place of security the Bible speaks about:

"C'mon! Come out here and we will teach you a thing! What - are you scared? Nyah, nyah, sissy! You couldn't survive in the real world, like me! Here, I'll even spot you a dozen horses. See if you can even put riders on them!"

He lives to be contentious. It is the stuff of life for him. He taunts those who realize it is but a distraction from the real life and thereby shy away from it.

TTH:

You are again PROJECTING, and impugning motives, not in evidence.

Of course ... like EVERYBODY ... I have an agenda, too.   I want people to learn how to THINK properly, and I don't much care about what.

OTHERWISE ... I have to put up with stuff like

.... and it is very tiresome.

It does appear that they are attempting to copywrite the NWT and all their publications. As far as being concerned about people misquoting their content, they have no concern when they misquote or take out of context other sources...most of the time not giving source information for the misquoted context.

    • It appears to me that this is a key aspect of the 2030 initiative ideology. While the Rothschilds were indeed influential individuals who were able to sway governments, much like present-day billionaires, the true impetus for change stems from the omnipotent forces (Satan) shaping our world. In this case, there is a false God of this world. However, what drives action within a political framework? Power! What is unfolding before our eyes in today's world? The relentless struggle for power. The overwhelming tide of people rising. We cannot underestimate the direct and sinister influence of Satan in all of this. However, it is up to individuals to decide how they choose to worship God. Satanism, as a form of religion, cannot be regarded as a true religion. Consequently, just as ancient practices of child sacrifice had a place in God's world, such sacrifices would never be accepted by the True God of our universe. Despite the promising 2030 initiative for those involved, it is unfortunately disintegrating due to the actions of certain individuals in positions of authority. A recent incident serves as a glaring example, involving a conflict between peaceful Muslims and a Jewish representative that unfolded just this week. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/mar/11/us-delegation-saudi-arabia-kippah?ref=upstract.com Saudi Arabia was among the countries that agreed to the initiative signed by approximately 179 nations in or around 1994. However, this initiative is now being undermined by the devil himself, who is sowing discord among the delegates due to the ongoing Jewish-Hamas (Palestine) conflict. Fostering antisemitism. What kind of sacrifice does Satan accept with the death of babies and children in places like Gaza, Ukraine, and other conflicts around the world, whether in the past or present, that God wouldn't? Whatever personal experiences we may have had with well-known individuals, true Christians understand that current events were foretold long ago, and nothing can prevent them from unfolding. What we are witnessing is the result of Satan's wrath upon humanity, as was predicted. A true religion will not involve itself in the politics of this world, as it is aware of the many detrimental factors associated with such engagement. It understands the true intentions of Satan for this world and wisely chooses to stay unaffected by them.
    • This idea that Satan can put Jews in power implies that God doesn't want Jews in power. But that would also imply that God only wants "Christians" including Hitler, Biden, Pol Pot, Chiang Kai-Shek, etc.
    • @Mic Drop, I don't buy it. I watched the movie. It has all the hallmarks of the anti-semitic tropes that began to rise precipitously on social media during the last few years - pre-current-Gaza-war. And it has similarities to the same anti-semitic tropes that began to rise in Europe in the 900's to 1100's. It was back in the 500s AD/CE that many Khazars failed to take or keep land they fought for around what's now Ukraine and southern Russia. Khazars with a view to regaining power were still being driven out into the 900's. And therefore they migrated to what's now called Eastern Europe. It's also true that many of their groups converted to Judaism after settling in Eastern Europe. It's possibly also true that they could be hired as mercenaries even after their own designs on empire had dwindled.  But I think the film takes advantage of the fact that so few historical records have ever been considered reliable by the West when it comes to these regions. So it's easy to fill the vacuum with some very old antisemitic claims, fables, rumors, etc..  The mention of Eisenhower in the movie was kind of a giveaway, too. It's like, Oh NO! The United States had a Jew in power once. How on earth could THAT have happened? Could it be . . . SATAN??" Trying to tie a connection back to Babylonian Child Sacrifice Black Magick, Secret Satanism, and Baal worship has long been a trope for those who need to think that no Jews like the Rothschilds and Eisenhowers (????) etc would not have been able to get into power in otherwise "Christian" nations without help from Satan.    Does child sacrifice actually work to gain power?? Does drinking blood? Does pedophilia??? (also mentioned in the movie) Yes, it's an evil world and many people have evil ideologies based on greed and lust and ego. But how exactly does child sacrifice or pedophilia or drinking blood produce a more powerful nation or cabal of some kind? To me that's a giveaway that the authors know that the appeal will be to people who don't really care about actual historical evidence. Also, the author(s) of the video proved that they have not done much homework, but are just trying to fill that supposed knowledge gap by grasping at old paranoid and prejudicial premises. (BTW, my mother and grandmother, in 1941 and 1942, sat next to Dwight Eisenhower's mother at an assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses. The Eisenhower family had been involved in a couple of "Christian" religions and a couple of them associated with IBSA and JWs for many years.)
