ONLY JEHOVAH CAN SAVE THE TURTLES! ?????????????
RISING TEMPERATURES CAUSE SEA TURTLES TO TURN FEMALE
      By Craig Welch
      PUBLISHED JANUARY 8, 2018
The turtle wranglers landed on Ingram Island thinking about sex and heat.
Pacific green sea turtles spend years cruising this northern Australia feeding ground, fattening up on sea grasses before heading to nesting areas to mate and lay eggs. The scientists simply wanted to know: which of these reptiles were male and which were female?
You can't always tell a sea turtle's sex by looking, so researchers kicked off a "turtle rodeo." They stood atop skiffs and raced toward swimming turtles and launched themselves like bull wrestlers onto the animals' carapaces. After gently steering each turtle to shore, they took DNA and blood samples, and made tiny incisions to inspect turtle gonads.
Since the sex of a sea turtle is determined by the heat of sand incubating their eggs, scientists had suspected they might see slightly more females. Climate change, after all, has driven air and sea temperatures higher, which, in these creatures, favors female offspring. But instead, they found female sea turtles from the Pacific Ocean's largest and most important green sea turtle rookery now outnumber males by at least 116 to 1.
"This is extreme—like capital letters extreme, exclamation point extreme," says turtle scientist Camryn Allen, with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Hawaii. "We're talking a handful of males to hundreds and hundreds of females. We were shocked." New research published in Current Biology Monday by Allen and her colleagues is just the latest to suggest that rising temperatures around the world can turn sea turtle populations female. But it is the most detailed look to date at just how significant this problem is already, and raises new questions about the risks globally for marine turtles, as well as for other temperature-dependent species—from alligators and iguanas to inland silversides, an important fish in many streams and estuaries. Do You Have Jealousy and Envy?
      ????
A person who shows improper jealousy suspects others without adequate cause or resents the diversion to another of what he unjustifiably claims as his own.
An envious person discontentedly desires or covets the good fortune and attainments of others.
A Trait That Can Poison Our Minds—Envy. Napoleon Bonaparte had it. Julius Caesar had it. Alexander the Great had it.
Despite all their power and glory, these men harbored in their heart a trait that can poison one’s mind. All three envied someone else. “Napoleon envied Caesar, Caesar envied Alexander [the Great], and Alexander, I daresay, envied Hercules, who never existed,” wrote English philosopher Bertrand Russell.
Envy can plague anyone, regardless of how much wealth he has, whatever virtues he possesses, and how successful he is in life. Envy is a feeling of resentment toward others because of their belongings, prosperity, advantages, and so forth. Distinguishing envy from jealousy, a Biblical reference work says: “‘Jealousy’ . . . refers to the desire to be as well off as another, and the word ‘envy’ refers to the desire to deprive another of what he has.”
Not only does the envious man begrudge what others have but he wants to take it from them. We are wise to examine how envy can arise in us and what its consequences are. Especially do we need to know what measures we can take to prevent envy from controlling our lives.
The fight against envy can be a long one. Cristina admits: “I still have a strong tendency toward envy. Even though I hate it, the feeling is there, and I have to suppress it constantly.” Envy is one of “the works of the flesh,” against which every Christian should fight. (Gal. 5:19-21)
By not allowing envy to control us, we can make our lives happier and can please our heavenly Father, Jehovah.
      Lesson for today. (Gal 5:26)

      (Psalm 19)
      1. The heavens tell the glory of Jehovah.
The work of his own hand,
      we see in skies above.
And each new day brings to him rightful praise.
The starlit night proclaims his might,
      His wisdom, and his love.
      2. JehovahÂ’s law is perfect, life-restoring,
      And his reminders guide
the steps of old and young.
His rulings prove to be true, right, and just.
His word is sure, his law so pure,
      So sweet upon the tongue.
      3. The fear of God is pure and lasts forever.
      The worth of his commands
      exceeds the finest gold.
His orders lead and preserve all his own.
His honor, fame, and holy name,
      We loyally uphold.

      THEY COPED WITH DISCOURAGEMENT
      ????
We exert ourselves vigorously with the help of Jehovah’s spirit; still, we may at times be discouraged because of the way people react to our message. We do well to recall the example of the prophet Jeremiah. He experienced ridicule, insults, and jeering because he proclaimed GodÂ’s message to the Israelites. At one point, Jeremiah even said: “I am not going to make mention of him, and I will speak no more in his name.”
      ????
Jeremiah was a man with feelings like ours. Nonetheless, he kept delivering God’s message. Why? The prophet added: “But in my heart it became like a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was tired of holding it in; I could no longer endure it.”—Jer. 20:7-9.
      ????
Similarly, if we are discouraged because of people’s response to our message, we can fight off that feeling by meditating on the message we proclaim. It can be like ‘a burning fire shut up in our bones.’ Making Bible reading a daily habit can keep that fire burning within us.

“Mark Well the Ravens.” Michael Burnett, a class instructor and former missionary, delivered the talk with the above title.
      ????
He said that we are going to have anxious thoughts on occasion.
      ????
But remember Jesus’ counsel: “Mark well that the ravens neither sow seed nor reap, . . . and yet God feeds them.” (Luke 12:24)
      ????
According to the Law covenant, ravens were unclean, not fit to be eaten. They were to be considered loathsome. (Leviticus 11:13, 15)
      ????
In spite of their status, God feeds them. “So if you are confronted with major anxiety in the future,” said Brother Burnett, “think about the raven.
      ????
If God takes care of an unclean, loathsome bird, how much more so is he going to take care of you who are clean in his eyes.”

Gaining the Victory Over Human Weakness
      ????
      ???????
“The minding of the flesh means death.”—ROMANS 8:6.
When Paul wrote to Christians living in Corinth—a city known for its moral depravity—he offered a realistic warning against temptation and the power of sin. He said: “Let him that thinks he is standing beware that he does not fall. No temptation has taken you except what is common to men. But God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but along with the temptation he will also make the way out in order for you to be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:12, 13)
      ???????
All of us—young and old, male and female—encounter many temptations in school, at work, or elsewhere. Let us, therefore, examine Paul’s words and see what meaning they have for us.
      ???????
What comfort we derive from Paul’s words: “No temptation has taken you except what is common to men”! (1 Corinthians 10:13) The apostle Peter wrote: “Take your stand against [the Devil], solid in the faith, knowing that the same things in the way of sufferings are being accomplished in the entire association of your brothers in the world.” (1 Peter 5:9)
      ???????
Yes, others have faced similar temptations and have successfully resisted them with God’s help, and so can we.
      ???????
One way that Jehovah assists us is by answering our prayers for his help in coping with temptation. Jesus Christ taught us to pray: “Do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.” (Matthew 6:13)
      ???????
In response to such heartfelt prayer, Jehovah will not abandon us to temptation; he will deliver us from Satan and his crafty acts. (Ephesians 6:11, footnote)
      ???????
We should ask God to help us recognize temptations and have the strength to resist them. If we implore him not to allow us to fail when we are tempted, he will help us so that we are not overreached by Satan, “the wicked one.”

      Fancy a Fungus? ????
IN ANCIENT Egypt the Pharaohs prized mushrooms as delicacies. They became the preserve of the royal family. The Romans called mushrooms food of the gods and served them only on special occasions. The ancient Greeks held mushroom feasts and believed that mushrooms empowered their warriors for battle.
      ????
Today, however, mushrooms are not just for the elite. People all over the world enjoy eating them! What about you? If you fancy mushrooms, do you know what you are eating? Are mushrooms animals, vegetables, or something else? How are they grown? Are they nutritious? And if you see mushrooms in the wild, what should you do? Edible mushrooms are highly nutritious and are a valuable source of fiber, protein, minerals, and vitamins. Some 2,000 varieties are also known to have medicinal properties. According to one medical review, mushroom extracts have more than 100 medicinal uses, including combating cancer, hepatitis, AIDS, Alzheimer’s disease, and high cholesterol.
      ????
It can be very dangerous to gather mushrooms in the wild, however. The death cap mushroom (Amanita phalloides), among others, closely resembles edible varieties yet is deadly. So follow the rule: Never eat mushrooms from the wild unless a mushroom expert identifies them as safe to eat! Of course, commercially grown varieties are safe to consume. They are, in fact, delicious treats that were once reserved for royalty!

      “Everything He Has Made Pretty”
      ????
Artists have long recognized the golden proportion as the most pleasing to our eyes. What makes plantsform new growths precisely at this intriguing angle? Many people conclude that this is but another example of intelligent design in living things.
In contemplating the design of living things and our capacity to find pleasure in them, many discern the hand of a Creator who wants us to enjoy life. Of our Creator the Bible says: “Everything he has made pretty in its time.”—Ecclesiastes 3:11.

Keeping Anger Under Control - “Let Anger Alone“ ????
A calm heart is the life of the fleshly organism.” (Proverbs 14:30) ?
The idea of controlling your anger is beautifully expressed by the Bible psalmist David. He said: “Let anger alone and leave rage; do not show yourself heated up only to do evil.” (Psalm 37:8)
      ?
The way to avoid saying or doing something that you may later regret is to keep from getting “heated up” in the first place. Of course, that is much easier said than done. But it can be done! Let’s consider three ways that you can get your anger under control.
      ?
      Reduce AngerÂ’s Intensity
To reduce anger, slow down and relax. Try to avoid saying the first thing that comes to mind. If you feel yourself getting overly excited and feel you are in danger of losing control of your emotions, apply the Bible’s counsel: “The beginning of contention is as one letting out waters; so before the quarrel has burst forth, take your leave.”—Proverbs 17:14.
      ?
      Learn to Relax
Applying this basic Bible truth can improve one’s emotional, physical, and spiritual health. Start by learning simple relaxation methods, which help to reduce feelings of anger.
      ?
The following techniques have proved to be effective in combating stress-related anger:
? Breathing deeply, which is one of the best—and fastest—ways to reduce the intensity of your anger.
? While breathing deeply, repeating a word or phrase that is calming to you, such as “relax,” “let it go,” or “take it easy.”
? Immersing yourself in something you enjoy—perhaps reading, listening to music, gardening, or some other type of activity you find relaxing.
? Getting regular exercise and eating a healthful diet. - Bible Speaks -

How Rude! What Do I Do Now?

Christians do their best to apply the BibleÂ’s counsel to speak always in a kind and polite way. (Hello guest! When that happens, we hope the other person will understand that we are not usually like that. We would not want him to describe us as a rude person. Remembering this helps us to understand that people who are rude to us may also later regret what they say to us.

      H. O. P. E. - How will Pain End Forever? You Mean Christ Felt Pain?
      ????
“He was despised and was avoided by men, A man who was meant for pains and was familiar with sickness. It was as if his face were hidden from us. He was despised, and we held him as of no account. Truly he himself carried our sicknesses, And he bore our pains.” (Isa 53:3,4)
      PAIN
      ????
A sensation of physical discomfort, whether moderate or severe; also acute mental or emotional distress.
      ????
The physical sensation of pain serves a beneficial purpose by alerting a person to danger regarding bodily damage and thereby enables him to take steps to avoid serious injury. The fulfillment of God’s promise that “neither will . . . pain be anymore” (Re 21:4)
      ????
That could not mean that humans would become insensitive to or incapable of experiencing pain. Rather, mental, emotional, and physical pain that has resulted from sin and imperfection (Ro 8:21, 22) will ‘be no more’ in the sense that its causes (such as disease and death) will be removed.
      ????
That bodily perfection does not of itself require absolute painlessness is verified by the fact that even the perfect man Jesus experienced physical and emotional pain in connection with his death and the unresponsiveness of those to whom he ministered. (Mt 26:37; Lu 19:41) It was even foretold that he would be “a man meant for pains.” (Isa 53:3) By curing those “distressed with various diseases and torments” (Mt 4:24), Jesus bore the pains of others.—Isa 53:4 “He was despised and was avoided by men, A man who was meant for pains and was familiar with sickness. It was as if his face were hidden from us. He was despised, and we held him as of no account. Truly he himself carried our sicknesses, And he bore our pains.” (Isa 53: 3,4) - Bible Speaks

"Why is it that the way of wicked ones is what has succeeded?"— (Jer. 12:1)
      ???
After observing what was taking place in Jerusalem and Judah, Jeremiah felt compelled to ‘complain’ about what he saw. Jeremiah knew that Jehovah is righteous.
There was a time when Jeremiah too asked Jehovah why the wicked had a good life but those who did what was right suffered. (Jeremiah 12:1). When he saw what was happening in Jerusalem and Judah, he made a complaint to Jehovah. Jeremiah knew that Jehovah is righteous.

Jehovah answered Jeremiah’s question by telling him to preach a message of destruction, and then Jehovah made this prophecy come true. Those who obeyed Jehovah survived, but the wicked did not pay attention to the warning and died.—Hello guest! Please register or sign in (it's free) to view the hidden content. .

Many assert that there is no God and that life is a result of mindless evolution. If this view were true, life would simply be a product of a string of chemical and biological accidents, and our search for purpose and universal principles would be completely pointless.
      ????
Others believe that God created us and then abandoned us. In effect, this opinion renders us spiritual orphans, once again bereft of true purpose and standards. Consider: God provided each member of the animal kingdom with the instinctive wisdom needed to fulfill its niche in nature. As a result, his profound wisdom is manifest in the world around us. Would that same Creator form us and then leave us to flounder in the dark? By no means! —Romans 1:19, 20.

ONE of Jesus’ illustrations about the Kingdom describes a farmer who sows wheat and an enemy who sows weeds in the same field. The weeds begin to overgrow the wheat, but the farmer tells his slaves to “let both grow together until the harvest.” During the time of the harvest, the weeds are destroyed and the wheat is gathered. Jesus explained what the illustration meant. (Read Hello guest! Please register or sign in (it's free) to view the hidden content. Hello guest! ??????
The Master, Jesus, said about the wheat and the weeds: “Let both grow together until the harvest.” This command tells us that from the first century until today, there have always been people who were “the wheat,” that is, anointed Christians. Jesus also said to his disciples: “I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” (Hello guest! Please register or sign in (it's free) to view the hidden content. ) So Jesus would protect the anointed Christians all the days up to the time of the end. But since the weeds, or false Christians, had overgrown the wheat, we do not know for certain who were part of the wheat class during all those years.
      ??????
How do we benefit from what we have learned about this illustration? There are three ways. First, the illustration helps us to understand why Jehovah has not yet destroyed wicked people. He has tolerated them long enough to prepare the “vessels of mercy,” that is, the faithful ones represented by the wheat.Hello guest! As the end gets closer, our enemies will fight harder against us. “But they will not prevail.” (Read Hello guest! Please register or sign in (it's free) to view the hidden content. .) Jehovah has protected the wheat class for many years. Our heavenly Father, along with Jesus and the angels, will be with us “all the days” until the end.—Hello guest! WHY DOES A PLANT "GROW' or "DIE"? - HOW IS IT DETERMINED? - CAN YOU AND I DECIDE? - NO! ????
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies *within* us.

It Is “God Who Makes It Grow”!
“Neither is he that plants anything nor is he that waters, but God who makes it grow.”—(1 Cor. 3:7)
      ????
We are aware of our wonderful privilege to be counted as fellow workers with God. Jehovah is the one who causes spiritual growth, blessing our efforts and the efforts of those who receive the message.
      ????
We realize that we cannot force spiritual growth in anyone. We likewise need not feel discouraged or disheartened if growth is slow or lacking.
      ????
How comforting it is to know that our success is measured by our faithfulness to Jehovah and to the privilege that he has granted us to preach the “good news of the kingdom . . . for a witness to all the nations.”—Matt. 24:14

Ma bouche s’ouvre toute grande contre mes ennemis,
      Arrêtez de parler avec orgueil ;
      À Jéhovah appartiennent les fondations de la terre ;
      Jéhovah anéantira ceux qui combattent contre lui ;
