Ecclesiastes 3:12, 13 - I have concluded that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good during their life, also that everyone should eat and drink and find enjoyment for all his hard work. It is the gift of God.

Ecclesiastes 5:18 - This is what I have seen to be good and proper: that one should eat and drink and find enjoyment for all the hard work at which he toils under the sun during the few days of life that the true God has given him, for that is his reward.

Futility of life without hope of a resurrection was stated by Paul ..."let us eat, drink, for tomorrow we are to die", drawing from Isaiah 22: 13  "Let there be eating and drinking, for tomorrow we shall die".    This laissez faire attitude continues down to this day and is probably the most dangerous mindset since it goes against the urgency of making oneself right with Jehovah God.
