1989. Exactly the year when you would expect such a movie. (1990 in the US.) And now, anti-communists like Putin are happy to accept the exaggerated Stalin numbers. I lived for a few years in the former USSR. I could hear comments why Stalin was admired. Some liked his brutality. One new broder liked Satalin's expression that translated sounds like: 'When a person is gone, the problem is gone.' = 'Нет человека, и нет проблемы.'

Many liked also that Stalin was the leader that defeated the Germans and that he expanded the Soviet union. Especially the native Russians liked that. But subjugated territories were not so happy with that. 

Actually the ethnic Russians were only about 50% of the Soviet union's population.

My wife is from Latvia, and she has told me that they dreaded the Russians that Stalin transfered to Latvia. The Russians spyed on Latvians for slightest discontend. And many Latvians were caught and sent to Siberia and never came back. 

Yeah, the Russians felt like they owned the world thanks to Stalin.

Yes - inside Russia the old state propaganda machine is working better than ever!

Sweden, at present, is worried about Russian aggression to take Gotland for a port.  Russia has been silently taking pieces of land (and ports) and the world is doing nothing.  The propaganda machine of nationalism and church is flowering under Putin... 

Heard of Alexander Dugan?  His ideas were radical 20 years ago but now all the Russian leaders are following his ideas.  He wants Russia to rule Europe - Eurasia

Frankly - how can a dispute on the numbers make Stalin less of a monster? He was a  killer like Genghis Khan  - but I am sure he fathered not as many children .... LOL    They found his genes in a fairly large percentage of earth's population.  (I am too lazy to look up the statistic but it is quite huge).

I know that you want 'balance':  They call it here in Sweden "Lagom"  and it is a national mind set......  but there is no balance when we are talking about a monster who is responsible for a 'conservative' number like 20 million deaths. That is what atheism and an utopian philosophy does when they are put together.

If I live in fear of the ruler and my neighbor is watching me all the time because they do not like me  - and one word from them could have me liquidated......I would definitely say that Stalin is the most wonderful man living. I would praise the government and bow to every request of the government and follow all its instructions. 

People were so afraid of the authorities because not only did you suffer yourself.  They would come and take your children, your parents (everyone you loved and had contact with),  and lock them up. 

It is easy to just read as a scholar (but with no imagination to put yourself in the shoes of the proletariat's)  well..... then it becomes a disputed number....  because there is no living person in a family to tell the story.

It is now happening in North Korea.   If a person escapes - then the entire family is rounded up.   This is the method of communism.

MOSCOW — More Russians consider Joseph Stalin the “most outstanding person” in world history than any other leader, according to a poll released Monday. Tied for second in the same survey is the man who has done more than anyone to restore the notorious Soviet dictator's reputation, Russian President Vladimir Putin.

... Without prompting, 38 percent named Stalin, followed by Putin at 34 percent, in a tie with Alexander Pushkin, the renowned 19th-century poet often referred to as “the Shakespeare of Russia.”

Perhaps we should include a certain measure of the concept of "dualism" (we are bad and good) in the activities of a particular person, and hence a group and people in larger number. 

In some period of time and history of human, events that was came to existence are "responsible" for the emergence, the formation of individuals and people who made such influence on people's life. For some people they looked as positive or semi-positive actors, but for other (victims) they are very evil.

When i mentioned Bible reports, in my previous short comment, and as title of this subject give/it opens the picture of David and Saul and their involving in killing people of, not just so called enemy, but own people. And no matter is it question of one or few or 100 or 10 000 or 1 million and more, we can see how some of them are "peacefully" get old and died without been "punished" for crimes.

David, man who is mentioned so many times in various context, is the one (not only he) who is responsible for dead at least of one man, Uriah, and in some indirect way, of baby he had with Bathsheba. (No prison), no dead sentence, no abdication.

 

What is Bible message? Maybe this one:

If God like you so much, He will spare Your life because of some "higher reasons". Because He need You (like He "need" David) to accomplish some "prophecies". But if God "kill" you (because You are guilty, at the end of a day) then His plan will, may be "suffer" .... ?? and whole Future of Mankind, Kingdom, etc. will be in "jeopardy" :))))  

Perhaps, in that period of time, Great Britain had need for Churchill, Yugoslavia need for Tito, USSR for Stalin .... to safe them from some other "dictator" (Hitler for example). What choice we have?  Run away from the lion and meet the bear? JW rune from Pope and meet GB. Dualism in both choices. Final Ending is predicted. All other, in meantime, is matter of "luck".

Yes!  Wonderful!  The Russian propaganda machine is working better than ever! 

Trusting everything coming out of Russia?  How gullible.  I follow Russia closely and believe me - the nationalism is building (it is a tool of the state) and family and church is better than ever (used by the state).  The West is shown to be incompetent and their system is wonderful!   People have short memories do you not agree?  

The head of the church was  KGB...... like Putin.... they understand propaganda.....  and with philosophers such as Dugan (which all high profile people love) - you trust Russia?   It is maybe a form of communism with a better face but more deadly.  I have been watching for years how reporters who speak the truth are just found dead on the street..... how human rights lawyers are found dead.  Do you think the polonium murders in England were done by Russians or Brits?  ....Or the long tentacles of a totalitarian state?

It appears to me that Vladimir Putin, like Donald J. Trump are some of the very FEW people in government or theology that actually think like a real adult.

Therefore, I will here and now, 19DEC2018, predict that it will be Mr. Putin that will rescue Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia,  and get their property restored. Further, that it will be before 2020.

I am not really putting myself out that much, however, as predicting the future is something Jehovah's Witnesses, like all others for the past 2,000 or so years have ALWAYS been wrong, without exception.

However, if it turns out I am right, I will try to turn that into a commercial enterprise.
