“Why, Lord, Did You Remain Silent?” THESE were the words of Pope Benedict XVI, who visited the former concentration camp at Auschwitz, Poland, on May 28, 2006.By Bible Speaks
Lesson for today. (John 17:3) “Why, Lord, Did You Remain Silent?” THESE were the words of Pope Benedict XVI, who visited the former concentration camp at Auschwitz, Poland, on May 28, 2006.Â
At the site where the Nazis killed hundreds of thousands of Jews and others, he added: “How many questions arise in this place!Â
Constantly the question comes up: Where was God in those days? Why was he silent? How could he permit this endless slaughter, this triumph of evil? . . . We must continue to cry out humbly yet insistently to God: Rouse yourself! Do not forget mankind, your creature!” The popeÂ’s speech gave rise to animated reactions. Some detected revealing omissions, such as his failure to mention the anti-Semitism that was associated with atrocities at Auschwitz.Â
Others read into his words an attempt to play down the request of Pope John Paul II for forgiveness of sins that the church committed.Â
A Catholic journalist, Filippo Gentiloni, observed: “It was, however, logical that many commentators when confronted with the difficult question regarding where God was—a question without an answer—instead requested an answer to the easier question: Where was Pius XII?” The commentators were referring to Pope Pius XIIÂ’s silence during the Holocaust. The Holocaust and all the other acts of genocide committed throughout human history prove that “man has dominated man to his injury.” (Ecclesiastes 8:9)Â
Furthermore, manÂ’s Creator has not been silent in the face of so much horror. Through the pages of the Bible, he has revealed his reasons for allowing wickedness. God has also assured us that he has not forgotten mankind. In fact, the time period during which God has permitted man to rule himself will soon come to an end. (Jeremiah 10:23)Â

She is Deliana Rademakers. She was born in 1923.
She was a Jehovah's Witness who was arrested while preaching from house to house. After being imprisoned in the occupied Netherlands, she was deported to Auschwitz to Ravënsbruck concentration camp. Deliana was registered on November 20, 1942 with the number 25563. In her farewell letter to her family, she shared her hope of freedom and spoke of Psalm 18: 5 [...]
Then she sent greetings to her mother, her family , and the congregation where she met with the words "be brave and fearless. Because Jehovah is with us... what is it that people can do to us?
According to the death certificate, Deliana died on December 10, 1942.
The Nazi ideology was completely against morality and good manners. The incomplete documentation and the various ways in which the prisoners were qualified makes it almost impossible to determine how many Jehovah's Witnesses were at Auschwitz. However, as far as was known, 387 of our brothers died in this field in a span of 5 years. This includes at least 138 people classified as the category "IBV" (Internationale Bibelforscher-Vereinigung) International Society of Bible students, who were marked with the purple triangle...
She is in Jehovah's MEMORY.....

22 March 1933 | 85 years ago the first official concentration camp was opened in Nazi Germany at the site of an unused gunpowder and munitions factory near the town of Dachau 16 km from Munich. It was indented to hold political opponents of NDSAP.
The first commandant of Auschwitz Rudolf Höss began his career in SS-Totenkopfverbände in KL Dachau. He was assigned there in December 1934 & held the post of Blockführer. Another link between the two camps is the use of "Arbeit macht frei" slogan at their gates.
On March 22, 1943 the construction of crematorium IV was completed at Auschwitz II-Birkenau
The undressing room and the gas chamber was built on the ground level. The gas chamber (visible at the back of the archive photograph) was divided into three rooms and had a total of 236.78 square meters. The exterior walls had holes with gas proof trapdoors for inserting Zyklon B. In the middle of the building there was the undressing room. In the back - one eight-oven crematorium furnace. According to the calculations by German manufacturer, 768 corpses could be burned in this crematorium every 24 hours. Crematorium was burned by the Sonderkommando prisoners in their revolt on October 7, 1944 and subsequently dismantled.
