  1. Adam was hanging around the Garden of Eden feeling very lonely. So, God asked him, "What's wrong with you?" Adam said he didn't have anyone to talk to. God said that He was going to make Adam a companion and that it would be a woman. He said, "This pretty lady will gather food for you, she will cook for you, and when you discover clothing, she will wash it for you. She will always agree with every decision you make and she will not nag you. And will always be the first to admit she was wrong when you've had a disagre

  4. Maybe, but even if Christ was enthroned in 1914, what was the indication that their lease ran out then, and not 1,260 years earlier, or 100 years after? What indicated that their time was now being borrowed? How is that any different from the borrowed time they were on in 1910, or 2010? Wouldn't they have been on "borrowed time" from at least the time when Daniel 2 & 4 said that Jehovah was about to set up a government that would crush these kingdoms, and even the most powerful and haughty of rulers had to acknowledge that Jehovah is still in full control of whether they were given a "leas

Even those who think there might have been a fourth, identify the primary three in same way that others do. They are not beginning to see something new in their Bible studies. Even the KJV, in 1611 had it right, in Jeremiah 52:28-30: 28This is the people whom Nebuchadrezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year three thousand Jews and three and twenty: 29 In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he carried away captive

I'm not saying I believe the last days started on October 4, 1914, I just picked that date because that's pretty close to the day that the Watchtower claims the last days must have started. If they did start then, you could say that everyone since that date has been living in the last part of the last days. *** w14 7/15 p. 30 par. 9 “You Will Be Witnesses of Me” *** That happened in October 1914, markin

We are so hung up on Babylon the Great that we do not recognize that she is mostly licking her wounds these days, and a powerful atheist faction has arisen that would eradicate everyone clinging to worship of God—us no less than they. 10. No. That's just a part of it. 1914 was initially based on parallel dispensations that went back to the beginning of Israel in the days of "Jacob" (aka, Israel) and the length of time from the birth of Jacob to the end of the Jewish/Israelite dispensation. That length of time was supposed to be exactly equal to the length of time from the birth of Jesus to the end of Christian dispensation on earth. There was another idea that the date 1914 would also be the end of the Gentile Times, the farthest limit of any gentile rulership, so that the ancient worthies would be resurrected and begin a

  11. Although, naturally I am seeking the truth, and I can see no personal benefit from expressing my opinions about this, I do have to agree that it sows doubt. My grandmother used to tell me "if 1914 is wrong, then we're in the wrong religion." She was born in 1914, and I was born in 1957. Back in 1980, I told her that the brother I was doing research for at Bethel wanted the beginning of the generation changed from 1914 to 1957 (and already had some other members of the Governing Body agreeing with him). That's one of the times she repeated the above statement. I asked her, if they ch

Russell never acknowledged anything from John Aquila Brown, and initially (back in 1876 when contributing an article to George Storrs' magazine) he acknowledged no one else but the idea that it must now be God's proper time to reveal meat in due season through "his servants, the prophets." In fact, many Adventist-style religious commentators of the time acted like they personally were the source of information, while also dropping strong hints that they might personally be the "faithful and wise slave" through whom God was now working and giving food at the "proper time." Wouldn't it be interesting to see how true Christians might end up distinguishing themselves by the extent to which we give actual food even to our enemies, motivated by our love for Jehovah and Jesus Christ, and our true admiration of a kingdom based on Biblical principles: (Matthew 14:14-16) . . .When he came ashore, he saw a large crowd, and he felt pity for them, and he cured their sick ones. 15 But when evening fell, his disciples came to him and said: “The place is isolated and the hour is already late; send the crowds away, so that they may go into the villages and buy themselves f

The beginning of the falling away or rebellion against God's organization would also mark the beginning of the disclosure of the ''man of sin'', even though none of God's children then on earth understood the matter. The Revelation which God gave to Jesus Christ to show to his "servant" began to be disclosed particularly from 1914 forward, but none of God's children on earth had an understanding thereo

Miriam Webster defines this as: "to lead in a wrong direction or into a mistaken action or belief often by deliberate deceit" I do not think this is the case in respect of the last days or any portion thereof. I think there have been and are speculative expectations regarding the proximity of Jehovah's intervention and that some get carried along with them, embroidering them even. But not all have, or are, even now. An "are we there yet?" mindset is not that peculiar among humans who are expecting good things to happen. It is just a

So the seeming delay in receiving this becomes a problem as you actually have nothing until that sum is repaid, in fact you are out of pocket, in a negative position. That is not the case with true Christians. Once their relationship with Jehovah has been restored through Christ, they have something of infinite, immediate value. They are not out of pocket while they await payment of a debt. So as the psalmist said at Ps.1

The reason that people organize is so they can get more things done, and get them done effectively—an obvious plus when it comes to gathering, teaching, and shepherding a worldwide congregation. The reason that people oppose such organization is that they do not want such things done. It is no more complicated than that. And the reason the Christian organization applies for money that is legally owed it is....do I really have to explain this? The last days were still starting from 1799, with evidences from famous meteor showers (stars falling) and an unexplained "dark day" (sun not giving its light). The millennium was already associated with Jesus rule from 1874 with a special enthronement in 1878 to match the parallel dispensation of 33CE. Also, there was no specific use of earthquakes, famines, pestilences, and worldwide wars as indications of a special time within these last days. 22. That is correct. There are several different independent lines of evidence that all point to same conclusion: that Nebuchadnezzar's 18th year would have been 587 BCE, not 607. All the evidences that point to the time period of Cyrus are part of the same evidence that shows Nebuchadnezzar's 18th year was 587/6. If you can show evidence for Cyrus ending the Neo-Babylonian dynasty in 539, then this is simply part of the same evidence that puts the destruction of Jerusalem in 587/6. I think that a lot of Witnesses don't realize that even the very idea that they can put a date on Cyrus (like 539) i

A couple of other indications that they were not discerning a sign in 1914, is that Rutherford took the 40-year harvest from 1874-1914, and shifted it to 1878-1918, bypassing the significance of 1914. 1914 hadn't even shown anything significant yet with respect to the Gentile Times, either, which is why by January 1, 1916, the Watchtower had shifted the End of the Gentile Times to 1915: Also, it wasn't until May 1922, that the Watchtower first reported on the idea that Russell had announced on October 1, 1914 that "The Gentile Times have ended!" Pride in one's own cause, nation, religion or ideology causes one to be more apt to defend one's POV with bias, and condemn, with bias, those of an "opposite" POV . It happens to the best of us, and by that I mean that there have been several documented examples even within and among our own religion. Even sites that rarely say anything good about JWs have acknowledged this. It's not unrelated to the topic, so I'll include one article here: Here

Religious organization vs. religious organization via the internet; however, both the LDS and 7DA have individually, over twice as many congregants than the WT. So…even though the organization may “outpace” both those religions on the internet, where has it gotten them in numbers of believers? My point earlier was that there is presently, no more door-to-door preaching work for individual JWs.
