admin reacted to D.S.Weeleemee for a blog entry, Utter Madness!
Madness, chaos, wild confusion and disorder. This is the way the universe began - we're told. As the "dust" settles things become  more orderly more and more still. Yet, stillness is not always proof of becoming more orderly, just look at my room! It's very still! But definitely not orderly.
My room reflects my state of mind, my house reflects my body, my property reflects my immediate social environment, further a field reflects my place in society. On and on until we pan out to view the whole world, the planet, as my body, filled with sextiillions of elements from the atomic level, all the way up to the planetary scale. My room is a mess, my house is much the same, my property is isolated but has a good view, my local community seem to be active. Further a field society is sinking into mud on one side and overcoming huge mountains on the other. Panning out into space, the planet looks dry and brown as industrialisation consumes the globe like a nasty rash.
Weather systems are becoming more and more difficult to predict, even reversing in some cases. It is the perfect time to start a doomsday religion! Kidding, just so you know

admin got a reaction from James Thomas Rook Jr. for a blog entry, You might live in a nation (state) that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
    By Jeff Foxworthy:
If plastic water bottles are okay, but plastic bags are banned, — you might live in a nation (state) that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
WE DO LIVE IN SUCH A DUMB COUNTRY!!
If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for entering and remaining in the country illegally — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If you have to get your parents' permission to go on a field trip or to take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If you MUST show your identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book and rent a video, but not to vote for who runs the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If the government wants to prevent stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines that hold more than ten rounds, but gives twenty F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If, in the nation's largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not one 24-ounce soda, because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If an 80-year-old woman who is confined to a wheelchair or a three-year-old girl can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If a seven-year-old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is "cute" but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government regulation and intrusion while not working is rewarded with Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits, subsidized housing, and free cell phones — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big-screen TV, while your neighbor buys iPhones, time shares, a wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

admin got a reaction from The Librarian for a blog entry, 'Pentagon Papers'-Leaker Warns, US Is "Close To Nuclear Armageddon"
Authored by Mac Slavo via SHTFplan.com,
Daniel Ellsberg, the man who leaked the Pentagon papers which exposed the government’s lies during the Vietnam war is vocalizing a warning. He says the United States is really close to a nuclear Armageddon.
Ellsberg, now 86-years-old, leaked the Pentagon papers back in 1969 and he’s now got a new book out which serves a warning to those who care to listen.
According to the Daily Mail, Ellsberg’s 7,000-page report was the WikiLeaks disclosure of its time, a sensational breach of government confidentiality that shook Richard Nixon’s presidency and prompted a Supreme Court fight that was supposed to advance press freedom.

In his new book, The Doomsday Machine: Confessions of a Nuclear War Planner, Ellsberg details how easy nuclear bombs can be triggered and shot off on a false alarm – and that the president isn’t the only who can launch the nukes, as we are often told.
Low-level military commanders are capable of launching nuclear weapons too...
Adding to fears of a nuclear armageddon is North Korea’s insistence on building a nuclear weapon.  This has created a mass panic in nations all around the globe.  Not to mention, last month, President Donald Trump put North Korea back on a list of state sponsors of terrorism, a designation that allows the US to impose more sanctions and risks inflaming tension over North Korea’s nuclear weapons and missile programs.

North Korea then denounced Trump’s decision to relist it as a state sponsor of terrorism, calling the move a “serious provocation and violent infringement,” as the rogue nation sentenced the US president to death, saying he “hurt the dignity” of the “supreme leadership.” All of this is alarming, according to Ellsberg, who believes a nuclear war can be started simply by a false alarm.
Many US citizens falsely believe that only the US president, in this case, Donald Trump can order the use of nuclear weapons. But Trump isn’t the only military commander authorized to launch nuclear weapons, according to the New York Post.
Ellsberg says that the only way to avoid a nuclear holocaust is full disarmament by the United States and Russia

admin got a reaction from Alexa for a blog entry, How many millions do you need in order for it to be sustainable to quit your job?
I created a rule of thumb for retirement called the F.T.I., or "F&*% This Index" -- once it's over 1000, you can tell your boss "F&*% This" and retire. :-)

It's your age times your net worth, divided by your yearly expenses. If you're married, you'd want to average your age with your spouse's age, and you'd want to subtract any known future expenditures from your net worth (most likely example would be college educations for your kids). Yearly expenses shouldn't include taxes or investment spending that you do, either.
So if you are currently 50 and your yearly expenses are $50k, then 50*N.W. / $50k > 1000 when your net worth is just $1,000,000. If you're 30 and your yearly expenses are $60k, then 30*N.W./$60k > 1000 when your net worth is $2,000,000. If you're 40 and your yearly expenses are $120k, then you need $3,000,000.
It's just a rule of thumb; you'd want to pay closer attention to the details when you're actually making the decision whether or not to quit your job. It also assumes that you plan to spend your wealth down to nothing (or close to it) by the time you die; you wouldn't be planning to leave an estate to your heirs.

admin reacted to Money & Finance for a blog entry, Gold
Gold is a good first subject. It is also one of my foundation investments.
I think it is the one investment that can get you out of the central bankers game. It is also what the elite bankers and tycoons hoard and trade among themselves.
The IMF has at it's core a gold foundation.

Daily you hear reports of the price of gold going up or down. I tend to view the world differently. I feel that gold is always gold. The only TRUE money. The rest out there is "currency".
The value of the currencies is what goes up and down and not gold.
Some other quotes about gold that I remember being told:
"Gold must be bought" - Roman saying
"He who owns the gold rules" - Not sure who said that first.

As for what I like to buy .... 1 oz. gold coins. I prefer Canadian Maple Leafs since they are 24K gold.
I have in the past bought US 22K however I am heading toward all 24K.
I stay away from Chinese Panda coins.
Kruggerands are popular but are not very pretty as a coin. I really feel gold coins ought to "look" appealing. Remember though that I don't buy for numismatic value. Only for the value.

I will add more info about gold here as I come across it.

admin reacted to Alexa for a blog entry, Fertilized duck egg offered by vendors
Its common to asked by someone "Have you eaten balut? Do you want to taste later?" It so easy to be tempted and eat later on. Because its hard to explain them scriptural principles regarding our basis for not eating fertilized duck egg.
Its important to let them know you are one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Their reaction? They might already know we don't eat or agree with blood transfusions. If they ask "why", you can remember Paul's word in Acts 15:29. He knows good health means to abstain in blood. You can show them fascinating scriptural basis of our belief. You can ask them to eat barbeque or cracklings instead.

admin got a reaction from JAMMY for a blog entry, What Is Your Life's Blueprint?
Six months before he was assassinated, King spoke to a group of students at Barratt Junior High School in Philadelphia on October 26, 1967.

I want to ask you a question, and that is: What is your life's blueprint?

Now each of you is in the process of building the structure of your lives, and the question is whether you have a proper, a solid and a sound blueprint.

I want to suggest some of the things that should begin your life's blueprint. Number one in your life's blueprint, should be a deep belief in your own dignity, your worth and your own somebodiness. Don't allow anybody to make you fell that you're nobody. Always feel that you count. Always feel that you have worth, and always feel that your life has ultimate significance.

Secondly, in your life's blueprint you must have as the basic principle the determination to achieve excellence in your various fields of endeavor. You're going to be deciding as the days, as the years unfold what you will do in life — what your life's work will be. Set out to do it well.

And I say to you, my young friends, doors are opening to you--doors of opportunities that were not open to your mothers and your fathers — and the great challenge facing you is to be ready to face these doors as they open....

And when you discover what you will be in your life, set out to do it as if God Almighty called you at this particular moment in history to do it. don't just set out to do a good job. Set out to do such a good job that the living, the dead or the unborn couldn't do it any better

If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Leontyne Price sings before the Metropolitan Opera. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well. If you can't be a pine at the top of the hill, be a shrub in the valley. Be be the best little shrub on the side of the hill.

Be a bush if you can't be a tree. If you can't be a highway, just be a trail. If you can't be a sun, be a star. For it isn't by size that you win or fail. Be the best of whatever you are.

admin got a reaction from JAMMY for a blog entry, Jim Thorpe
This is Jim Thorpe. If you look closely at the photo, you can see that he's wearing different socks and shoes. This was not a fashion statement. It was the 1912 Olympics, and Jim, a Native American from Oklahoma was representing the U.S. in track and field. On the morning of his competitions, his shoes were stolen. Luckily, Jim ended up finding two shoes in a garbage bin. That's the pair that he's wearing in the photo. But one of the shoes was too big, so he had to wear an extra sock. Wearing these shoes, Jim won two gold medals.

People will play dirty. YOU decide if they win.
