Light is truth. John 14:6; 8:12  Christian living requires speaking truth and practicing love toward one’s neighbor.
Eph 5:11 - And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.
Beliefs Clarified is not truth, but “unfruitful works” of darkness;  a flip-flop of lies.  Beliefs Clarified” is a misnomer and should in all honestly be entitled, “Beliefs Obscured”.  When we “clarify” a point, we bring into focus what is initially stated, building on the primary point.  If we clarify a true teaching, that truth becomes well established with clearer understanding.  Watchtower usually starts with a lie and ends with a lie.   Prov 12:22
A wicked slave authorizes its army of adherents to ban and disfellowship those who follow Christ, even though Jesus promises life to those who do. Matt 24:9-13; 48-51; Rev 13:11,12, 15; John 8:12  It is not an act of love to disfellowship such ones, but hate; and it is exactly what Jesus prophesied would happen to those who follow him.  Luke 21:12; John 16:2; 1 John 3:12  It is exactly what the Beast/organization of Revelation practices on those who refuse to “serve” and dedicate themselves to its authority.  Rev 13:4-10   The attack against such ones, is guaranteed.
These are all “unfruitful works of darkness”.
Pagan ways?  You are grasping at straws.  Can you imagine worshiping God without the organization?  If not, you are an idolater.  Isa 46:5
To admire a dual power of authority over others, is admitting one’s own enslavement to its authority.  It has nothing to do with true “religion”.  James 1:27
Since the GB ‘dishonors’ others with their sense of pride and position, ousting any who reject their bogus claim, they have no love in themselves; they are the “wicked” slave.    The organization’s disfellowshipping file must be bursting at its seams. Of course, their lawsuit file already is.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  1 Cor 13:4-6

I have never thought of him as despicable. His hatred of some things is a bit unhinged, I would say, but that is partly accounted for by where he has been.
He should leave for his own peace of mind. Others can take over. JTR is opening his second file cabinet right now. Srecko is sharpening his tongue. Shiwiiiiiiiiii can step into his shoes, if need be. Witness is readying tractor trailer loads of verse. And Jack is saying “Why doesn’t the old fart move on? People can barely focus on MY complaints, he is so active..
In fact, let him act as though Billy has chased him away. It will stand as his final altruistic deed. He can’t always think just of himself—he must think of others.

If you would like to understand my skepticism, it should be very simple to understand. But remember, this has nothing to do with you.
Remember we are not talking about persons who are only 95 or even 105 (my grandmother-in-law turns 105 this year). If you look at a list of super-centarians you might begin to see the problem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_verified_oldest_people
Between 1957 and 1965, this 116 year old could easily have been the ONLY 116 year old on the face of the entire earth. And even if there was one 116 year old alive, the odds that he was alive in Texas (or somewhere in the United States) and had been in the Civil War makes it even more unlikely. The reason for saying that is that war veterans are often tracked specifically to watch for stories like this. They get published every "Memorial Day." They get veterans benefits. They get a lot of media attention.
In fact, there was a lot of evidence that the oldest Civil War veteran died at the age of 109. There were a couple of people (Walter WIlliams and WIlliam Lundy) who made claims of being older and also in the Civil War, but these two turned out to be likely "hoaxes."
One of them was the Houston, Texas man, Walter Williams, who was the one in a list of "hoaxers" claiming to have been 116:
    http://time.com/3877537/civil-war-veterans-hoaxers-photos/
A further explanation for skepticism is the entire article at https://mashable.com/2015/04/10/civil-war-oldest-veterans/
Ancestry.com and newspapers.com were not available to some of the reporters and journalists who did their best to verify such stories when it was so common for people to claim whatever they wanted about having been in the Civil War. Now you can check multiple records and see what matches up in a matter of seconds.
The mashable article points out the following about the two men in question:
There is some debate as to the validity of both Walter Williams' and William Lundy's claims. Walter Williams claimed in 1959 to be the last Civil War veteran alive. Williams said he was 116, but census data discovered more recently suggests that he may have been eleven when the war ended in 1865. William Lundy was born at a similar time, and died in 1957.
The story still becomes possible if he forged papers to join at age 10 or 11, and there is some evidence that a small percentage of boys actually tried this. And you might have been born in 1952 or 1954, which makes it quite possible that you met one of these two men.

Sorry about that. I read almost everything with healthy skepticism, especially stories that include a 116-year-old man. But the story was not impossible, and therefore it would be an amazing story that I hoped you say more about.
Your story also had a 5 year old asking a 116 year old man about an obscure parade from about 45 years earlier that the boy would not likely have known about unless someone else brought it up first. You explained how that happened, and it now makes much more sense.
To be totally honest, I still have a problem with the story, but it's not about you. It's about the man claiming to be 116.

@BillyTheKid46 You are so funny Kid. Your GB / Watchtower / JW Org talk about billions of people being killed at their idea of Armageddon.
I'm only suggesting that your 8 men of the GB might be killed a long time before that Armageddon.
I wonder if anyone suggested that Jesus would be killed before it happened ? Please remember that Jesus is the Son of God. but he was murdered.
And remember that one of JW's was working in my local KH and he was murdered. Stabbed to death.
And it seems that it's you that is stockpiling weapons, not me. How's that machine gun you have ? Legal in the USA is it ?
And you think I'm crazy  but at least i don't have a house full of guns.
I wonder which of us should actually be under investigation ?
Oh yes Christian ethics. Trust in God but have a machine gun as a backup.

@JW Insider But as I've said before, if the GB are 'taken' in any way (death or prison etc) for the Child Abuse issue or false teachings or shunning etc, then it will not be persecution for serving God, but more like people taking revenge or legal action because the GB did not serve God.
Surely you can see that some of the hate that people have for the GB and JW's, has nothing to do with any prophecy, nothing to do with how they serve God, but more to do with the facts of how the GB and JW's behave in an immoral and unjust way. So any 'worldly action' against the GB / JW Org is more likely to be by those that have suffered in some way because of the GB and it's Org's actions. I don't think that is in prophecy.  If the GB tries to pretend that any action against them is related to prophecy I will find it so funny.

I'm not saying the individual congregations are not part of the CCJW or the Watchtower, I'm just showing the kinds of legal arguments that must be made to protect the financial part of the current kingdom "interests." It's not that I think that attorneys should not try to do what they can to limit financial exposure either, as long as they are also looking for "fairness" and "justice" for the victims. But all Witnesses should be aware that the material resources that we currently enjoy as part of the organization are not permanent. They are not "promised." In fact, all of us should at all times be willing to walk by faith and not by sight.
A lack of money can result in a breakdown of the lines of communication between a local congregation and various entities in New York. Are we willing to make the best of such a situation and trust in Jehovah? The WTS/CCJW is currently trying to prepare Witnesses for such an eventuality. Will it happen as predicted? Will it happen in a way that doesn't come anywhere close to what is being predicted? What if the GB are taken by some nefarious forces, as you have spoken of? What if they are put in prison for covering up child abuse? They have surely considered these possibilities themselves. What if, instead of the protection expected in an imminent great tribulation, our religion and organization becomes an object of derision for 40 more years? (These are not predictions and have nothing to do with any Bible prophecies that I know of.)
In any particular country, or perhaps even on a more international scale, we have certain expectations bolstered by prophetic interpretations, and we will easily maintain faithfulness if those expectations seem to align with our beliefs about ourselves. But we also need to be prepared for maintaining our faith under completely different circumstances. One of those circumstances might be merely going on for another 50 years as more and more of our brothers lose their enthusiasm, and cannot seem to be goaded any longer by proddings of 'imminence.' We can go back to a Biblical question in Luke 18:8:
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

@JW Insider This is what i get when i try the link, because UK is part of Europe
451: Unavailable due to legal reasons
But this court case : Legal legal legal, but no moral, no going the extra mile. No, obeying God as ruler rather than men,  it's obeying the legal department rather than God.
Judas, to the very extreme. Think about the money money money.
CCJW, a New York non-profit corporation headquartered in New
York, supports the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses. CR 77, Ex. G ¶¶5-7.
What ????? So the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's witnesses are not Jehovah's witnesses, they just support Jehovah's Witnesses.  So um, if CCJW is the headquarters, then what it it the headquarters of ?  And how can it be called the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses ?
And they are also saying that the individual congregations are not part of CCJW or Watchtower.  Then why does each and every congregation have to send its  donations to the CCJW or Watchtower ? The individual congregations can only keep enough money to cover one or two months expenses and has to send the rest to CCJW (or Watchtower).  If the congregations are completely separate then what authority does the CCJW or W/t have over each and every congregation ?
Oh well, even more reason to not be a JW isn't it ?  I hope the Kid loves all this

Let's assume that the last year of the Civil War was 1865, and that this person forged papers because he was only about 16 or so. This would mean he was about 116 in 1965, when you were about 5. This fits most of what you have claimed elsewhere about your age and experience, and it means that you are about my age.
It reminds me of 1964, when we moved to the Springfield/Joplin, Missouri area to 'serve where the need was greater' and we ended up assigned to a congregation in the Boonville/Versailles, Missouri area. In Missouri we came across several persons up until about 1967 who claimed to remember the Civil War. I never met someone who claimed to fight, but a few who lost their parents or other close relatives. One old man on my "magazine route" as we called it, claimed to have been over 100 and he made "fiddles." He said his father fought but I don't even remember for which side.
What really impressed me is that, at age 5, you asked him about a "Confederate and Union" parade in New York that happened nearly 45 years before you born. And a seemingly obscure parade, at that! I could hardly find out anything about this particular parade.

Do you think that is the “real” issue here?
Do you think that God loses any sleep over it?
Do you think that should he see the error of his ways and back down, there will not be 100 to take his place?
Do you plan to take them all on? I mean, you haven’t really put out any fires here. You’ve even managed to get Mt. JWI to erupt again. He had been content to post pictures of kitty cats.

This is NOT the Kingdom Hall, Billy.
If you want to have credibility, HERE you have to say things that are credible .... AND PROVE THEM.
Every time you come out with a statement that is not common knowledge to MOST EVERYONE ... when called on it, you HAVE TO PROVE IT.
If you don't you get less and less respect and credibility every time you ignore a legitimate question, or change the subject.
I really wanted to believe you had a 50 caliber sniper rifle ... that would be sooooo cool, as far as I am concerned ... and perhaps you really do ... but because you ignored my question about how you acquired it, and avoided expounding, added to this "actor claim" choke,  I can't believe anything you say, if it is not obvious common knowledge.

Now I'm glad I did, because you bring up an interesting point that I might have missed . . .
Are you saying that those in the second group who would have potentially overlapped with those in the first group should be born (or anointed) before 1933?
If so, I can see some of the reasons you might say this. But I'd really like to know if that's what you believe. I guess the best way to ask is to see if you can answer either or both of the following question(s) with a yes or no:
Do you think persons in the second group of the "generation that will not pass away" must be born before 1933 (or perhaps up to 1935)? Do you think persons in the second group of the "generation that will not pass away" must be able to realize their own anointing before 1933 (or perhaps up to 1935)? PBS?

Stipulating 1965 (apparently) can be helpful.
No problem. My skepticism was already well founded and satisfied. But it doesn't mean the story is untrue. Unique and unlikely things have happened to all of us at some time or another. This is what makes the world interesting.
In a similar vein, then, changing the subject to "soldiers of Christ," a person could have been born in 1903, anointed at age 11 before October 1914, then living to be 116, might therefore not die until October 2019. That's this year!! If another 11-year-old person, somewhere in the world, becomes anointed before October 1919, and he or she lives to be 116, that means that the "generation which will not pass away" could potentially pass away in 2124. I think, therefore, we can safely say that this generation will finally pass away just over 100 years from now, if not before. Right?

JTR Jr said "The only reason I did not "upvote" TTH's excellent post was this quoted line .... as my experiences and observations have been quite different.  Congregational trials disallow representation, recordings, witnesses to the proceedings,  or transcripts, and are held in secret, and the results often secret as well."
It is the fact that they have been kept secret for so long that has resulted in so many court cases Earthwide now. And if TTH thinks the GB / JW Org / W/t has a much better track record it must be because A. the internal 'court cases' have been kept secret, B. There are far more worldly cases than JW cases.
I like that JTR Jr uses the expression " than OUR system, where everything is done in darkness, behind closed doors, and anonymously.
    Luke 8 v 17. is a good scripture here.
And I just have to repeat what James wrote here :-
It is an abomination when the Nations have a better system than we do,  and THEIR Justice System imitates what we know from the Bible worked well for thousands of years .... and OUR Congregational system imitates how it is done by tyrants practicing evil.
So James, do you still invite people into your Kingdom Hall ? Do you still go on the ministry ?
Do you invite innocent people to be taught by tyrants practicing evil. ?

True Justice ONLY comes from Jehovah God and Jesus Christ .... all else, without exception, is only PERHAPS an attempt at Justice.
That is why the process is called "Due Process".
You get the process that is due ... HOPEFULLY it will approximate Justice.
The only reason I did not "upvote" TTH's excellent post was this quoted line .... as my experiences and observations have been quite different.  Congregational trials disallow representation, recordings, witnesses to the proceedings,  or transcripts, and are held in secret, and the results often secret as well.
I would prefer my case (if any) to be heard by a jury of 12 men, good and true, with all the above deficiencies not present, any day, on any subject.
For several thousand years the Jews had a system like that, EVERYTHING open, transparent, and public .... with trials held in the city gates, for all to see, and comment, and KNOW that either Justice had been served or that it had been perverted.
The Nations of the World's model of seeking Justice more closely resembles that ... than OUR system, where everything is done in darkness, behind closed doors, and anonymously.
I was the subject of a Congregational Committee Trial once, and the three judging me REFUSED TO TELL ME THEIR NAMES.
Can you imagine a trial in the USA where you cannot know the names of those judging you?
It is an abomination when the Nations have a better system than we do,  and THEIR Justice System imitates what we know from the Bible worked well for thousands of years .... and OUR Congregational system imitates how it is done by tyrants practicing evil.

A bit like the religious leaders of the Jews using the Romans to do their dirty work when 'riding themselves of Jesus Christ'.
