  1. It all sounds a little 'gnostic,' 4Jah2me. Do you believe the 'true anointed remnant' have a dual nature, i.e. they are spirits inhabiting a physical body? Does this mean the 'true anointed remnant' cannot err in matters of interpretation or doctrine?
  2. I thought mutations played a role too? Something to do with ALX1? I'm not going to pretend I understand the ins and outs of it, but if Table 2 in this article is anything to go by ...
  3. There's going to be a small stream coming down Annie's everything if you don't stop, Arauna 🤣🤣🤣 You're killing me!
  4. Yes, but it is RARELY is beneficial. The number of incorrect mutations would have exceeded the benefits.... Tell that to the finches on Daphne Major!
  5. Tectonic plates do not move rapidly. Read an Earth history book sometime. Think: How would all these nice sea-life/seashell-filled sediments have been laid down in a tsunami? 🙄 How does that physically work? And this: 🤣 🤣 🤣 Water pressure made coal and oil? Just too funny! I don't even know where to start! Hahahaha!
  6. So your argument appears to be: we can only know the Bible is true or its true meaning when other people - the 'right' people - tell us it is true and explain the meaning to us. Is that correct? I see. Are you saying the 'true anointed remnant' are not men and women, and they have no tune to call?
  7. So that goes back to AlanF's point about believing anything at all if no evidence is needed to validate that belief. In that case, in the absence of evidence, on what basis can you believe the Bible to be true? How do you interpret 'earth' or 'world'? Are the terms as absolute and literal as in this passage from Zephaniah 1, for instance: “I will completely sweep away everything from the surface of the ground,” declares Jehovah. “I will sweep away man and beast. I will sweep away the birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, And the stumbling blocks along with the wicked ones; And I will remove mankind from the surface of the ground,” declares Jehovah. [...] For by the fire of his zeal the whole earth will be consumed, Because he will make an extermination, indeed a terrible one, of all the inhabitants of the earth.”
  8. Hm. Your argument doesn't fly. If we play the 'faith and miracles' card, and God is not a liar, why would he miraculously fake the planet-wide geological record to make it appear like there was no global flood if there really had been a global flood?
  9. Just to emphasize that the issue here is whether or not a global flood happened c. 4,400 years ago. https://ncse.ngo/yes-noahs-flood-may-have-happened-not-over-whole-earth
  10. I didn't hear that one. I heard the conversation between Cyberdyne Systems Director of Special Projects, Miles Dyson and anti-robotics activist Sarah Connor. It got pretty heated, I can tell you!
  11. I heard about this! This is something tech giant Cyberdyne Systems has been working on for a while now. They have developed a network of AI-controlled supercomputers called Skynet and the goal is to replace human civilian and military airplane pilots with machines. There was concern that Skynet would become self-aware and kick-start a global nuclear war! I saw it on TV. It's like something out of science fiction!
  12. Actually with the help of swine (I knew the quote I posted went over your head.)
  13. Let's try again. You said the Spanish Flu virus doesn't exist anymore - it had gone extinct because mutations are harmful. My point (supported by the science if you bother to check) is that the Spanish Flu was one strain of the Influenza A/H1N1 virus group which still exists today. Not only that, but the 2009 'Swine Flu,' according to my sources, is a descendant of the Spanish Flu strain. Therefore, the Spanish Flu strain survived long enough to reproduce and mutate, i.e. evolve, into new strains over the next 90 years. Coming to your quote, the original Spanish Flu H1N1 strain has been extracted from human remains (those that died from the disease in 1918) and its genome sequenced ... which has helped virologists trace the 1918 strain's evolution into modern H1N1 strains. Get it? I know most of this paragraph will go over your head but pay close attention to the part in red bold. "Although the pandemic influenza viruses of 1957, 1968, and 2009 are all descended, via different pathways, from the 1918 virus, only the 2009 pandemic virus expresses an antigenically similar hemagglutinin (HA) (11). All influenza A viruses (IAV), including the 1918 virus, possess a segmented single-stranded RNA genome and can evolve by the accumulation of selected mutations (“antigenic drift”) or through the exchange of gene segments by reassortment with other influenza viruses (“antigenic shift”). Sequencing the 1918 virus provided the basis for the subsequent understanding that the key 2009 virus HA gene, after having apparently been transmitted from humans to pigs in or about 1918, had been maintained in pigs over the past 90 years or so as a separate lineage from the 1918 human pandemic H1N1 virus (11), a lineage that has long been recognized as the “classical” swine H1N1 influenza virus. When the 2009 pandemic virus emerged in humans with a swine H1 HA gene descended from, and still closely related antigenically to, the 1918 pandemic virus, extensive cross-protection between the 2009 and 1918 pandemic viruses was demonstrated in experimental animals (12–16). " (Another source) Thus, what you initially said was, at best, misleading. The Spanish Flu virus didn't die out. It changed.
  14. Influenza A/H1N1 (Spanish 'flu was a strain of this) still exists. The Spanish 'flu virus just evolved and diversified into other strains of H1N1, most notably that which caused the 'Swine 'Flu' pandemic of 2009. A lot of us are even vaccinated against this 2009 distant descendant of the 1918 strain every year. (Source.) Arauna's quote: "It is interesting to note that the H1N1 flu strain that caused the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic was extinct until very recently. This strain has been recently resurrected to allow for its scientific study and is closely guarded in a containment facility in Atlanta, Georgia." (Arauna's source - a review of a book about the Spanish 'flu) You haven't negated anything I said. Read my source.
  15. Well, I'm afraid my Xmas break is rapidly coming to an end and so must my forum frolics. I'll leave all you boys to carry on slugging it out between yourselves. 😁 Neil, I wish I could say it's been a pleasure but you're still the same knucklehead you've always been, sadly. If you change your mind about wanting to learn how to use an astroprogram and check Furuli's claims about VAT 4956 and other astronomical tablets, you know how to contact me. Hooroo again!
  16. Thank you. It's not hard. You should try learning these kinds of skills too ... ... if you can be bothered, of course 😉 I didn't notice that at all. I did notice that he talked about the exilic era consisting of more than one deportation to Babylon. Ahh, so you are acknowledging the exile/diaspora of Israel in the 8th century BCE too (p. 2). OK.
  17. When the Oct 1, 2011 WT on p. 26-7 quoted Albertz, '...the event marked an important turning point in the history of God’s people. One historian said that it led to “a catastrophe, indeed the ultimate catastrophe.”' it apparently missed that Albertz was comparing the negative and defeatist viewpoint of the 587/6 destruction and resulting exile by the writer(s) of 1 & 2 Kings with the more positive outlook given by Jeremiah. Therefore, Albertz wasn't expressing his own view of the exile as implied by the way WT used his quote, but the books of Kings' pessimistic view of the exile. From p. 7 of Albertz's book for context leading up to WT's quote: I thought I'd just point this out 🙂
  18. th study 8 Illustrations That Teach p. 11 HOW TO DO IT: Make sure that the features of your illustration really apply to the lesson you are teaching so that your listeners are not distracted by mismatched elements. 😉😁
  19. ... which life then channels through and/or gets around. What was your metaphor trying to teach again?
  20. So, what does the rickety car represent, @TrueTomHarley? Is there an antitype in there somewhere?
  21. What, in your metaphor, was analogous to a living organism, @TrueTomHarley? You, the driver? What mutation did you spontaneously develop that caused you to lose control of the car? 🤪
  22. Clueless. 🙄 Influenza A/H1N1 (Spanish 'flu was a strain of this) still exists. The Spanish 'flu virus just evolved and diversified into other strains of H1N1, most notably that which caused the 'Swine 'Flu' pandemic of 2009. A lot of us are even vaccinated against this 2009 distant descendant of the 1918 strain every year. (Source.) And many mutations are beneficial or harmless to the organism (look at the success of viruses, for example!).
