What were those events from 1914 onward, according to what Jesus said in his prophecy? Why was the “end” “not yet” after those initial events?7 As in the case of nineteen centuries ago, the international war, the food shortages, the pestilences and earthquakes, were a “beginning of pangs of distress.” (Matt. 24:8)

And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the church."
Diotrephes was instigating disfellowshipping.  Who does this today?  Who calls anyone who refuses their false doctrine, "despicable apostates"?  Who, before Christ arrives, has decided they are "faithful and discreet"?  The GB are the preeminent ones, lording it over all of Christ's brothers.  Was John going to let Diotrephes get away with it?
Open your eyes, Anna.  You once said that although 1914 was a difficult doctrine for you to accept, you wouldn't make waves in the congregation concerning it.  If your heart knew it was false, why wouldn't you stand for truth?  It is a core lying doctrine of the organization.

Jesus commanded us to not go after anyone who claims the end is here, aka “the time is at hand”.
“And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them.” Luke 21:8
According to Jesus, we are commanded to not listen to the governing body, we are commanded to not listen to JW’s, and we are commanded to not listen to anyone else who’s proclaiming the one message Jesus said to not proclaim, “the time is at hand”. If we do listen to these men, it proves we are being disobedient to Jesus. Is it really something so simple as a wrong prediction, or, is it rather a blatant disregard for Jesus’ command?

Thank you for the video, and I appreciated your comment.
“And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.”  Eccl 12:11
Surrounding that text is the description of the wise “Preacher” seeking acceptable words, and what was written (by him) was upright – words of truth.  After the above verse, the conclusion was made to keep God’s commandments; and, every piece of work – written work of words – will be brought into judgment.
“Including every secret thing, whether good or bad.”  Eccl 12:14
Should the truth be wearisome to the flesh or refreshing as the living water that Jesus offers? (John 4:10) Are JWs ever disappointed that their “truth” ends up in the trash? I wonder if they care.
G Jackson made a recent comment about the mind’s “symbolic pathways”. To paraphrase, he said when we have new thoughts, new concepts, pathways form in the mind.  They become more solid when we think of them.  The pathways become easier to “walk along”.  He gives the example of someone whacking their way through a jungle.  Then he says, in personal study and meditation, we shouldn’t always look for new things.
    What things?
He states, “sometimes we might say, well I’ve read that publication already, I don’t need to reread it.  Yes, you do.  Why?  Because, just because you cut a path in your mind through the jungle doesn’t mean to say that that path is always going to remain easy to pass through. No, it’s good for us to go back again and go over and over the same things.”
Why would we go over and over a publication that may end up in the trash?
The GB member didn’t mention going over and over the Bible, the source of truth, where keys to wisdom continually bring us new understanding.  Shouldn’t we always look for new thoughts in God’s Word?
What he is explaining is the cult tactic to drive home lies that are wearisome to the flesh, to the mind, and to the spirit.
Brainwashing:: Cult leaders are known to repeat various lies and distortions until members find it difficult to distinguish between reality and cult life.
    ...or between truth and lies.

Oh man, it's hard to give a one sentence, even two sentence answer to this!
Well, scripture tells us that Jacob is another name for Israel. (Gen 32:27,28)
There a few representations that can be made.
I look at the kingdom to come, as a family. The first children born into the Kingdom, and the first who are bought by the blood of Christ, are the anointed who have, through affliction and refinement, proven faithful and obedient to his teachings. (Mark 14:24; John 15:20,21; 16:33; Rom 4:13; Rev 3:21; 5:9,10)    As the older siblings of the family, their role is to watch out for their younger siblings not anointed.  In imitation of their Head, Jesus, and as members of his Body, they also “sacrifice” their life for their younger siblings, who are the final “promised seed”. (Gen 17:1,2)  This plays out by the priesthood of “kings” teaching and guiding God’s future children on earth and under the guidance of Jesus. (Mal 2:7) (Gen 28:10-15; John 1:51)   They are called “trees” that provide “healing to the nations”.  (Ps 1:3; Zech 4:11,14; Matt 7:17,20: Rev 11:4;22:2)    This healing is wisdom from God and Jesus Christ. (Prov 4:5-9)
Jesus was the first promised seed of the covenant made with Abraham. (Gal 3:16)  We are aware that Jesus established another promise, the New Covenant which is represented as a “woman”…and at its fulfillment  when it also produces a “seed”, (John 12:24) this mother becomes the source of life for future promised seeds. (Gal 4:24,28) Jesus is the greater Adam and described as an “eternal Father” in Isa 9:6.  His “Bride” is the new Eve, bringing life to the rest of the children of God.  (Isa 60:1-5)
So, those under this promise before fulfilled, are the anointed. (Gal 4:26) Yet, all children of the Kingdom benefit from the New Covenant.  When an anointed is sealed while on earth, those not anointed who have turned to Jesus Christ for understanding, are directed by Holy Spirit to the “Marriage Feast”. (Matt 22:1-14)  God determines the condition of their heart and gives these ones to Jesus to look out for, to feed spiritually, through members of his promised sealed Bride, until the Kingdom arrives. (John 6:44;13:20)
At this feast, the true story is told of how the Kingdom will arrive. Clarity, clear waters of truth, flow from the Temple/Zion of God. (John 7:38; Rev 22:1,2,17; 19:19) (1 Pet 2:5,9; 1 Cor 3:16; Eph 2:20-22)    The feast is the pouring out of understanding (of Revelation, which “reveals” its meaning) for all future children in the Kingdom, those of the anointed and those not anointed, who choose to accept this wisdom.  I am referring to those in the last days.  We know that there are many who have died who will be resurrected. (Matt 22:32; John 5:25,28,29)
We are all equal, but not all will have the same responsibility as God’s children in the Kingdom, just as in the nation of Israel.  At that time, the priests were chosen purposely to care for the needs of the children of God.  This was a “copy and shadow” of things to come.  (Heb 8:5)
Besides administering justice (2 Chron 19:8-11; Heb 8:10), it seems very fitting that the Bride/priests of Jesus will be providing spiritual “healing” in the form of God's wisdom, to the nations.  (Rev 22:1-5)
“According to the Encyclopedia Judaica, medicine and religion were closely connected for Jews in ancient times. Priests were “the custodians of public health,” and Jews in biblical times regarded the physician as “the instrument through whom God could effect the cure.”  (Lev chapter 13-15)

    g93 3/22 p. 3
THE story is told of a boy who watched the sheep of the villagers. To stir up a bit of excitement, one day he cried out, “Wolf! Wolf!” when there was no wolf. The villagers rushed out with clubs to drive off the wolf, only to find that there was none. It was such great fun that later on the boy repeated his cry. Again the villagers rushed out with their clubs, only to discover that it was another false alarm. After that a wolf did come, and the boy sounded the warning, “Wolf! Wolf!” but the villagers dismissed his cry as another false alarm. They had been fooled too often.
So it has become with those who proclaim the end of the world. Down through the centuries since Jesus’ day, so many unfulfilled predictions have been made that many no longer take them seriously.
Does the failure of such predictions to come true convict as false prophets those who made them, within the meaning of Deuteronomy 18:20-22? That text reads: “The prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. And in case you should say in your heart: ‘How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?’ when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak.”
There are some who make spectacular predictions of the world’s end to grab attention and a following, but others are sincerely convinced that their proclamations are true. They are voicing expectations based on their own interpretation of some scripture text or physical event. They do not claim that their predictions are direct revelations from Jehovah and that in this sense they are prophesying in Jehovah’s name. Hence, in such cases, when their words do not come true, they should not be viewed as false prophets such as those warned against at Deuteronomy 18:20-22. In their human fallibility, they misinterpreted matters.

We can see the Wt is trying to remove itself from being labeled “false prophets”. Does this mean that God also has turned a blind eye to their many failed predictions as they have done?
The leaders of “Israel” and all anointed (New Jerusalem/holy city) are to bear the name of God, symbolically. (Jer 25:29; Dan 9:18)  Anything that comes out of their mouths is to be in truth with Jesus Christ’s teachings. But are they?  Jesus tells us that we can detect the false teachers/prophets from the genuine teachers he has sent, by what comes out of their mouth, what “fruit”/teachings they have produced.  (Matt 7:15-19)  In Matt 7:15, Jesus calls them “false prophets" - "ravaging wolves".
The second key to labeling the leaders of the organization as false prophets is their “voicing expectations based on their own human interpretations.”  God calls these ones, false prophets, because they are “prophesying” and filling their hearers with false hopes…as well as grabbing the attention and a following of those witnessed to, as in the house-to-house work.
“This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord.”  Jer 23:16
“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”  2 Pet 1:20,21
Can an organization claim to be guided by Holy Spirit when every prophesy made, was at the will of a human and not the will of God?
“Offer yourself as a role model of good actions. Show integrity, seriousness, 8 and a sound message that is above criticism when you teach, so that any opponent will be ashamed because they won’t find anything bad to say about us.”  Titus 2:7-9

Witness reacted to Srecko Sostar in Why can one no longer (why not recommended to) “eat” WTJWorg “spiritual food” from the past?
Because that food has become "garbage."
Such “spiritual food” that was produced and multiplied in the past in WTJWorg printing presses is no longer produced. Most publications (books, magazines, booklets...) that many JWs today don’t even know about, are no longer used. It has been forgotten on the shelves of few old JW members and in the archives of WTJWorg in America.
Many publications were literally destroyed and / or thrown in the trash.
Personally, I remember helping to throw away hundreds of books in Zagreb's Bethel (at the old address at 11 Kamaufova Street in Zagreb) before many decades. It was a small format book, if I'm not mistaken the color was light blue, hardcover) A few of us were a young workforce carrying boxes of books out of the basement. And some of us had astonished faces in disbelief wondering, "Is it not a sin to throw away the word of God written in these books"?
The leading people of Bethel in Zagreb, together with the USA Administration, obviously did not consider such a procedure to be incorrect. Why? Well because of what many of us later realized. That wasn't "the truth" anyway. And more than that, it was not "the truth" from God. There are things that are “true” and without God to tell us that. But, WTJWorg used just the latter to convince people to accept human interpretations and beliefs as God's. Once upon a time, even today, they claim the same; that everything written in WTJWorg publications came from God via FDS channel or through GB.
It is unlikely that someone who simply reads the Bible without taking advantage of divinely provided aids could discern the light. That is why Jehovah God has provided “the faithful and discreet slave,” foretold at Matthew 24:45-47. Today that “slave” is represented by the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses. It is under the direction of this body that the “Light Bearers” District Convention has been arranged. - https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1992328 - Come to the “Light Bearers” District Convention
Title of this article suggesting how GB is Light Bearers, and then all JW members who sow such "truth" are likewise, light bearers.
Also: So, then, we have noted four basic avenues of aid: (1) reading and studying God’s Word, together with Christian literature; (2) persevering in prayer; (3) yielding to the influence of God’s holy spirit; and (4) enlisting the aid of mature Christians. In these ways, many, many persons have been helped in their struggle to overcome weaknesses. Yet, some have a far more difficult time conquering weaknesses than do others. Are there yet other aids that they could effectively use? - https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1982762
Why do “divinely provided aids” end up in the trash?
