Signs of the time of the end....prophecies being fulfilled today! - The King is ready to Conquer! (Revelation 6:1-8) ????? 1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice as of thunder: “Come!” 2 And I saw, and, look! a white horse; and the one seated upon it had a bow; and a crown was given him, and he went forth conquering and to complete his conquest. 3 And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say: “Come!” 4 And another came forth, a fiery-colored horse; and to the one seated upon it there was granted to take peace away from the earth so that they should slaughter one another; and a great sword was given him. 5 And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say: “Come!” And I saw, and, look! a black horse; and the one seated upon it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice as if in the midst of the four living creatures say: “A quart of wheat for a de·nar´i·us, and three quarts of barley for a de·nar´i·us; and do not harm the olive oil and the wine.” 7 And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say: “Come!” 8 And I saw, and, look! a pale horse; and the one seated upon it had the name Death. And Ha´des was closely following him. And authority was given them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with a long sword and with food shortage and with deadly plague and by the wild beasts of the earth." Read more at: jw.org

Draw close to God.—Jas. 4:8. ????? The closer we draw to Jehovah, the greater our motivation is to love him ‘with our whole heart, our whole soul, our whole mind, and our whole strength.Â’ (Mark 12:30) Surely, we are eager to obey God and become imitators of him. (Eph. 5:1) Maintaining a regular Family Worship evening, then, is a key ingredient to help all the members of our family “keep ready” spiritually as we await the foretold “great tribulation.” (Matt. 24:21; Luke 12:40) It is vital to survival. The Family Worship arrangement also has another objective—that of helping family members draw closer to one another. Spending time together discussing spiritual matters every week has a marked effect on how family members feel toward one another. What closeness marriage mates experience when they hear each other express joy over a spiritual gem they discover together! (Eccl. 4:12) Parents and children who worship together are likely to become united in love, the “perfect bond of union.”—Col. 3:14. - Bible Speaks - w11 5/15 2:14, 15 Read the rest of this article at: jw.org

You Are Blessed! - Show YOU are Grateful! "You are the blessed of Jehovah." (Genesis 26:29) ~ ????? Jehovah Blessing Humans. “The blessing of Jehovah—that is what makes rich, and he adds no pain with it.” (Pr 10:22) Jehovah blesses those whom he approves by protecting, prospering, guiding, giving success, and supplying their needs, with a beneficial outcome for them. Occasions for Expressing Blessing. In prayer, one praises and thanks God, blessing him, and, in turn, speaks on behalf of those united in faith and those seeking God, blessing them. Saying or asking a blessing upon food before a meal is usually done in prayer. In such prayer thanks and praise are given to Jehovah for his spiritual and material provisions, asking that Jehovah will direct the nourishment to be used for the benefit of those partaking and that the food will strengthen them to serve him. Yes, YOU are Blessed! Who Created this? - Can Any man make this? - No! Of course not! - Only Jehovah God! - ????? “To whom can you liken me to make me his equal?” says the Holy One. 26 “Lift up your eyes to heaven and see. Who has created these things? It is the One who brings out their army by number; He calls them all by name. Because of his vast dynamic energy and his awe-inspiring power, Not one of them is missing.—Isaiah 40:25, 26.   Glowing wisps of outpouring gas, lit up by a central star nearing the end of its life, looks like a colorful holiday ornament in space. This image, captured by our Hubble Space Telescope (@NASAHubble), shows the vivid blue and red hues of a planetary nebula that is located about 11,000 light-years from Earth. When a star ages and the red giant phase of its life comes to an end, it starts to eject layers of gas from its surface leaving behind a hot and compact white dwarf. Sometimes this ejection results in elegantly symmetric patterns of glowing gas, but this planetary nebula is much less structured. Planetary nebulae are one of the main ways in which elements heavier than hydrogen and helium are dispersed into space after their creation in the hearts of stars. Eventually some of this out-flung material may form new stars and planets. In this iamge, the vivid blue and red hues come from material including ionized oxygen and hydrogen glowing under the action of the fierce ultraviolet radiation from the still hot central star. Credit: ESA/Hubble & NASAÂ

LET JEHOVAH GUIDE YOU WHEN MAKING DECISIONS ~ ? ? ? ? ? When we have to make a decision, we first need to think about what Bible principles can help us and how we can apply them. In some cases, we may want to do more research in our publications or even ask an elder for advice. He could help us to think about other Bible principles. Imagine this situation: A sister is married to someone who is not a Witness. She plans to go out in the ministry on a particular day. (Acts 4:20) But on that day, her husband does not want her to go preaching. He tells her that they have not spent much time together lately and that he would like to take her out somewhere. So the sister considers Bible verses that can help her make a wise decision. She knows that she must obey God and that Jesus commanded us to make disciples. (Matthew 28:19, 20; Acts 5:29) But she also remembers that a wife should be in subjection to her husband and that God’s servants must be reasonable. (Ephesians 5:22-24; Philippians 4:5) Is her husband trying to stop her from preaching, or does he just want to spend time with her that day? As JehovahÂ’s servants, we want to make decisions that are reasonable and that please him. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/402017326?q=acts+5%3A29&p=par

WHY WE MUST STRUGGLE: ~ ????? A biology teacher was teaching his students how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. He told the students that in the next couple of hours, the butterfly would struggle to come out of the cocoon. But no one should help the butterfly. Then he left. ????? The students were waiting and it happened. The butterfly struggled to get out of the cocoon, and one of the students took pity on it and decided to help the butterfly out of the cocoon against the advice of his teacher. He broke the cocoon to help the butterfly so it didn't have to struggle anymore. But shortly afterwards the butterfly died. ????? When the teacher returned, he was told what happened. He explained to this student that by helping the butterfly, he had actually killed it because it is a law of nature that the struggle to come out of the cocoon actually helps develop and strengthen its wings. The boy had deprived the butterfly of its struggle and the butterfly died. ????? Apply this same principle to our lives. Nothing worthwhile in life comes without a struggle. As parents we tend to hurt the ones we love most because we don't allow them to struggle to gain strength. ????? "Stop being molded by this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, so that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God."— (Rom. 12:2) - Bible Speaks — ContributedÂ

SOON JEHOVAH WILL MAGNIFY HIS NAME TO ALL NATIONS AND THEY WILL HAVE TO EITHER GLORIFY IT OR BOW TO HIS GOVERNMENT THAT IS RULING THE EARTH ~ ????? ‘Summer and Winter Will Never CeaseÂ’ ????? From the standpoint of an earthly observer, heavenly bodies serve as unmistakable indicators of seasons. When creating our solar system, God decreed: “Let luminaries come to be in the expanse of the heavens . . . , and they must serve as signs and for seasons and for days and years.” (Genesis 1:14) In the course of a year, the earth reaches two points in its orbit where the sun appears directly overhead at noon at the equator. These occurrences are called equinoxes, and in many lands they mark the beginning of spring and of autumn. During equinoxes the periods of daylight and darkness are almost equal throughout the earth. ????? The existence and onset of seasons does not involve astronomical movements only. Seasons, climate, and weather are all interlocked in a complex system that sustains life. Speaking to people living in Asia Minor—many of whom were very familiar with agriculture and food production—the Christian apostle Paul and his companion Barnabas stated that God is the one “giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts to the full with food and good cheer.”—Acts 14:14-17. ????? JehovahÂ’s works are wonderfully attested to by the motion of the earth, providing for day and night, seasons, and seedtime and harvest. We are confident that summer will follow winter. After all, it was God who promised: “For all the days the earth continues, seed sowing and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night, will never cease.”—Genesis 8:22. - Bible Speaks- ????? https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2004522?q=seasons&p=par - Skiing into Paradise (by Jørn Allan Pedersen)

THE WAY OF HAPPINESS Physical Health and Resilience ~ ???? CHRONIC ILL HEALTH OR DISABILITY CAN HAVE A MAJOR IMPACT ON A PERSON’S LIFE. After becoming physically paralyzed, a once active and healthy man named Ulf said: “I became deeply depressed. My strength, courage, and power drained away . . . I felt ‘destroyed.’” ????? UlfÂ’s experience reminds us that none of us have complete control over our health. Still, we can take reasonable measures to reduce the risk of ill health. But what if our health deteriorates? Does that doom us to unhappiness? Not at all, as we shall see. First, though, let us consider some principles that promote good health. ????? BE “MODERATE IN HABITS.” (1 Timothy 3:2, 11) Habitually eating or drinking to excess is obviously bad for our health—not to mention our finances! “Do not be among those who drink too much wine, among those who gorge themselves on meat, for a drunkard and a glutton will come to poverty.”—Proverbs 23:20, 21. ????? DO NOT POLLUTE YOUR BODY. “Let us cleanse ourselves of every defilement of flesh and spirit.” (2 Corinthians 7:1) People defile their bodies when they chew or smoke tobacco or abuse alcohol or drugs. Smoking, for example, “leads to disease and disability and harms nearly every organ of the body,” says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. ????? VIEW YOUR BODY AND YOUR LIFE AS PRECIOUS GIFTS. “By [God] we have life and move and exist.” (Acts 17:28) Appreciating that fact moves us to avoid taking needless risks, whether we are at work, driving, or choosing our recreation. A momentary thrill is not worth a life of disability! ????? CONTROL NEGATIVE EMOTIONS. Your mind and body are closely linked. So try to avoid undue anxiety, unbridled anger, envy, and other harmful emotions. “Let go of anger and abandon rage,” says Psalm 37:8. We also read: “Never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties.”—Matthew 6:34. ????? TRY TO FOCUS ON POSITIVE THOUGHTS. “A calm heart gives life to the body,” says Proverbs 14:30. The Bible also states: “A joyful heart is good medicine.” (Proverbs 17:22) That is a scientifically sound statement. “If you are happy,” said a doctor in Scotland, “you are likely in the future to have less in the way of physical illness than those who are unhappy.” ????? BUILD RESILIENCE. Like Ulf, mentioned earlier, we may have no choice but to endure a persistent trial. Still, we can choose how we endure. Some become overwhelmed with discouragement, which may only make matters worse. “If you become discouraged in the day of distress, your strength will be meager,” says Proverbs 24:10. ????? Others, perhaps after initial feelings of despair, bounce back. They adapt. They find ways to cope. That was the case with Ulf. He said that after much prayer and meditation on the BibleÂ’s positive message, he “started to see opportunities instead of obstacles.” Moreover, like many who undergo major trials, he learned valuable lessons in compassion and empathy, which moved him to share the BibleÂ’s comforting message with others. ????? https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102018017?q=prov+17%3A22&p=par

Women are always trying to look nice! ????? It is a part of our female needs to be special and loved. Sometimes we are not as pretty as we would like! That is ok for it's all about the heart, whether we are loved by Jehovah or not. That is how people will be attracted to us, not by the new dress. It is only a temporary idea! Clothes fade and moths are hiding everywhere, if we look inside and dress as though Jehovah sees us then we will be happy, Just a thought I learned from my past ~ ????? “Charm may be false, and beauty may be fleeting, But the woman who fears Jehovah will be praised.”— (Proverbs 31:30) "Likewise, the women should adorn themselves in appropriate dress, with modesty and soundness of mind, not with styles of hair braiding and gold or pearls or very expensive clothing, 10 but in the way that is proper for women professing devotion to God, namely, through good works. — (1 Timothy 2:9, 10) - Bible Speaks

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE ??? PIE? (Hebrews 11:1) says: "Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld." ????? Take pie. I have a favorite pie, and when I walk into the room, and SMELL that aroma, I think..... "There's a PIE cooking!!" Now, I look around the kitchen and I see apple peelings, bits of crust dough lying around, flour on the counter...I KNOW there's pie, and what KIND of pie it is. ????? I've never seen it, but I know it's there. Then, there's a NOTE which says 'I know by now you've smelled the pie, and Yes, you may have some as soon as the timer rings.' Now I KNOW that the pie is there, it's cooking, it's apple and it's for me, and I know all this without having ever SEEN the pie . ????? The evidence of it's existence is all around me. And I KNOW I'll be eating pie soon. The same is true of faith. We have never seen Jehovah, but we've seen the EVIDENCE of Him in the natural world, in his people, in the accomplishments of his organization, in prayers being answered, prophesies being fulfilled, and more promised. ????? We KNOW, beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's real and working for our good. Then there's 'the NOTE': the Bible, that puts into words the assurance of His love for us, and the promise of better things. We've never physically SEEN him or our future paradise, but we KNOW, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are REAL, because of the enormous amount evidence all around us. We KNOW it. Now we just have to wait for the 'timer to ring'. ? - Bible Speaks ????? Â

MAGNETIC STORM ON COMET CATALINA: ????? Earth isn't the only place with geomagnetic storms. Comets can have them, too. Such a storm appears to be underway in the sinuous blue ion tail of Comet Catalina (C/2013 US10). Note the blobs of plasma circled in this Dec. 11th photo taken by Michael Jäger of Jauerling, Austria. e blobs are a sign of stormy space weather. Observers of comets frequently witness plasma blobs and 'disconnection events' in response to CMEs and gusts of solar wind. In extreme cases, a comet's tail can be completely torn off. The underlying physics is akin to terrestrial geomagnetic storms. When magnetic fields around a comet bump into oppositely-directed magnetic fields in a CME, those fields can link together or "reconnect." The resulting burst of magnetic energy can make waves, blobs, or even ruptures in the comet's tail. When CMEs hit Earth, a similar process takes place in the planet's magnetosphere powering, among other things, the aurora borealis. Comet Catalina is brightening in the eastern pre-dawn sky, not yet visible to the naked eye, but an easy target for backyard telescopes. - Amazing Miracles Of Our Creator Jehovah God! - ???

Keep your “roots” grounded like a Tree. Having “Come to Know God”—What Now? ????? Our first step was to take in knowledge, which led to our having faith. But we need to keep taking in knowledge and keep making our faith stronger. (2 Thessalonians 1:3) After our baptism, our relationship with God needs to keep growing and getting stronger. ????? This is similar to the way a tree grows. It is amazing to see how tall a tree can grow, especially when its roots are strong. For example, some of the beautiful cedars of Lebanon can be as tall as a building that has 12 floors. They can be so big that a rope 12 meters (40 feet) long would stretch around just one of them. (Song of Solomon 5:15) ????? A tree grows very quickly at first. As the roots grow deeper and reach farther away from the tree, the trunk grows wider and taller. Later, it is not so easy to see the tree grow. It is similar with our progress as Christians. We may make many changes when we first start studying the Bible. Then we get baptized. Others in the congregation notice how we are progressing in the truth. We might start to pioneer or get other assignments in the congregation. As time goes on, it may not be so easy for others to see the progress we are making in the truth. But we all need to keep growing in knowledge and faith until we are like “a full-grown man,” that is, until we are what a mature Christian should be. (Ephesians 4:13) So when we make progress as a Christian, we are like a tiny seedling that grows into a strong tree. ????? But our progress should not stop there. Our knowledge of GodÂ’s Word and our faith are like roots that keep us strong and unmovable. Those roots need to keep getting stronger. (Proverbs 12:3) There are many brothers and sisters who continue to make this kind of progress. One brother who has been an elder for more than 30 years said that he is still making progress. He says that he appreciates the Bible now more than ever. He keeps learning new ways that the Bible can help a person to make decisions, and he enjoys being in the ministry more and more. ????? THE STEPS THAT WE TAKE TO KNOW GOD CAN HELP US TO KEEP PROGRESSING We start “taking in knowledge” of Jehovah and his Son, Jesus Christ.—John 17:3 Our faith increases as we learn about God.—John 3:16 We pray to Jehovah regularly.—Acts 2:21 We start to associate with the congregation.—Hebrews 10:24, 25 We repent of our sins.—Acts 17:30 We stop our sinful way of life and stop bad habits and conduct.—Acts 3:19 We start to speak to others about the truth.—2 Corinthians 4:13 We dedicate ourselves to Jehovah in order to follow Jesus properly.—1 Peter 4:2 We get baptized in water.—1 Peter 3:21 ????? SOME EXPRESSIONS EXPLAINED To know God: To have a close friendship with God after we learn what kind of Person he is To be known by God: To have GodÂ’s love and approval because we are his friends To grow: To make progress as a Christian. Both new Christians and mature Christians need to continue to grow To dedicate yourself to God: To promise Jehovah that you will serve him forever ????? https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/402013204?q=roots&p=par

Serve God Loyally Despite “Many Tribulations” ~ ????? “We must enter into the Kingdom of God through many tribulations.”—ACTS 14:22. DOES it shock you that you can expect to face “many tribulations” before you gain the prize of everlasting life? Likely not. Whether you are new in the truth or you are a longtime servant of Jehovah, you know that hardship is an aspect of life in SatanÂ’s world.—Rev. 12:12. Jesus foretold: “People will hand you over to local courts, and you will be beaten in synagogues and be put on the stand before governors and kings.” (Mark 13:9) As those words indicate, some Christians will face tribulation in the form of physical persecution, perhaps at the instigation of religious or political leaders. (Acts 5:27, 28) Again, consider PaulÂ’s example. Did he cower at the thought of being subjected to such persecution? Not at all.—Read Acts 20:22, 23. Never forget that “Jehovah knows how to rescue people of godly devotion out of trial.” (2 Pet. 2:9) Will you continue to trust in Jehovah, knowing that he can deliver you from this wicked system of things and allow you to enjoy everlasting life under the rule of his Kingdom? You have every reason to do so and to face up to persecution courageously.—1 Pet. 5:8, 9. Be determined not to give up the fight. Keep focused on the reward. Paul wrote to Christians in Corinth: “We do not give up, but even if the man we are outside is wasting away, certainly the man we are inside is being renewed from day to day. For though the tribulation is momentary and light, it works out for us a glory that is of more and more surpassing greatness and is everlasting.”—2 Cor. 4:16, 17. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2014683?q=1+peter+5%3A9&p=par

"Love, in deed and truth." (1 John 3:18) ????? Jesus said: “I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” (John 13:34, 35) The love of the true Christian brotherhood has no equal in human society. Yes, the clouds have cleared the storm has left. I smell the air it is refreshing! No pollution anymore! I hear the songs of birds and rejoicing in the air....I will fear no more. I hear children laughing and playing, I feel it is a time to dance and rejoice....I must look some more.....! (Psalms 37:9-11) 9 "For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth. 10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace."vs 22 "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it." (Isaiah 11:6-9) . . .And the wolf will actually reside for a while with the male lamb, and with the kid the leopard itself will lie down, and the calf and the maned young lion and the well-fed animal all together; and a mere little boy will be leader over them. 7 And the cow and the bear themselves will feed; together their young ones will lie down. And even the lion will eat straw just like the bull. 8 And the sucking child will certainly play upon the hole of the cobra; and upon the light aperture of a poisonous snake will a weaned child actually put his own hand. 9 They will not do any harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain; because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters are covering the very sea." (Isaiah 65:17-66:1) . . .“For here I am creating new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be called to mind, neither will they come up into the heart. 18 But exult, YOU people, and be joyful forever in what I am creating. For here I am creating Jerusalem a cause for joyfulness and her people a cause for exultation. 19 And I will be joyful in Jerusalem and exult in my people; and no more will there be heard in her the sound of weeping or the sound of a plaintive cry.” 20 “No more will there come to be a suckling a few days old from that place, neither an old man that does not fulfill his days; for one will die as a mere boy, although a hundred years of age; and as for the sinner, although a hundred years of age he will have evil called down upon him. 21 And they will certainly build houses and have occupancy; and they will certainly plant vineyards and eat [their] fruitage. 22 They will not build and someone else have occupancy; they will not plant and someone else do the eating. For like the days of a tree will the days of my people be; and the work of their own hands my chosen ones will use to the full. 23 They will not toil for nothing, nor will they bring to birth for disturbance; because they are the offspring made up of the blessed ones of Jehovah, and their descendants with them. 24 And it will actually occur that before they call out I myself shall answer; while they are yet speaking, I myself shall hear. 25 “The wolf and the lamb themselves will feed as one, and the lion will eat straw just like the bull; and as for the serpent, his food will be dust. They will do no harm nor cause any ruin in all my holy mountain,” Jehovah has said. 66 This is what Jehovah has said: “The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool. . . ." Appreciate Jehovah’s Loyalty and Forgiveness ~ ????? “You, O Jehovah, are good and ready to forgive; and the loving-kindness to all those calling upon you is abundant.”—PSALM 86:5. How forgiving is Jehovah? The Bible says that Jehovah forgives “in a large way.” This means that he forgives both completely and permanently. (Isaiah 55:7) How do we know that Jehovah forgives completely? Think about the promise at Acts 3:19. (Read.) The apostle Peter said that if a sinner truly repents, he feels sorry for his bad course. How can a person who has sinned be forgiven by Jehovah? Peter said that the sinner must “repent” and “turn around.” A person who truly repents decides that he is not going to repeat his sin. (2 Corinthians 7:10, 11) This person then turns around, that is, he stops doing what is wrong and does everything he can to please God. Then his sin can be “blotted out.” To blot out means to wipe out, or erase. So when Jehovah forgives, it is as if he erases our sins. Jehovah forgives completely. How do we know that Jehovah forgives our sins permanently? We learn how forgiving Jehovah is from something he said to Jeremiah in a prophecy about anointed Christians. (Read Jeremiah 31:34.) Jehovah said: “I shall forgive their error, and their sin I shall remember no more.” So once Jehovah forgives, he does not keep thinking about our sins so that he can accuse us or punish us again and again. He forgives our sins permanently. But what if you believe that your sins are too serious or too numerous for Jehovah to forgive? Please consider JehovahÂ’s invitation recorded at Isaiah 1:18: “‘Come, now, and let us set matters straight between us,Â’ says Jehovah. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be made as white as snow.’” Yes, even sins that seem as indelible as scarlet dye on a white garment are not beyond JehovahÂ’s forgiveness. Jehovah does not want you to keep suffering with a guilty conscience.  Lesson for today. (Psalms 103:12) https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/402013445?q=blotted+out&p=par

Proof God Jehovah Exists and Is Alive! ????? (Romans 1:20) "For his invisible [qualities] are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable." ????? The Splendor of JehovahÂ’s Creation “How Many Your Works Are, O Jehovah!” WHETHER we live in the country or in a city, high up in the mountains or way down by the sea, we are surrounded by the awe-inspiring splendor of creation. ????? We too do well to observe and study creation. For instance, we might well “raise [our] eyes high up” and ask: “Who has created these things?” Why, it is Jehovah God, who has an “abundance of dynamic energy” and who truly is “vigorous in power”!—Isaiah 40:26 ????? How should meditation on JehovahÂ’s creative works affect us? In at least three ways. It can (1) remind us to cherish our life, (2) move us to help others to learn from creation, and (3) impel us to get to know and appreciate our Creator more fully. ????? Our life as humans, far superior to that of “unreasoning animals,” enables us to observe and value the wonders of creation. (2 Peter 2:12) ????? Our eyes can see the graceful landscape. Gaining True Understanding. ????? (Proverbs 1:1-6) –  shows that the “man of understanding is the one who acquires skillful direction, to understand a proverb and a puzzling saying, the words of wise persons and their riddles.” These must not be things said merely to pass the time away in idle conversation, for wise persons would not customarily waste time in such manner, but must refer to instruction, questions, and problems that discipline and train the mindand heart in right principles, thereby equipping the learner for wise action in the future. Knowledge and understanding together bring wisdom, which is “the prime thing,” the ability to bring a fund of knowledge and keen understanding to bear on problems with successful results. The person who is rightly motivated seeks understanding, not out of mere curiosity or to exalt himself, but for the very purpose of acting in wisdom; ‘wisdom is before his face.’. He is not like those in the apostle Paul’s day who assumed to be teachers of others but were “puffed up with pride, not understanding anything,” unwisely letting themselves become “mentally diseased over questionings and debates about words,” things that produce disunity and a host of bad results. The person seeking true understanding prays to God: “Make me understand, that I may observe your law and that I may keep it with the whole heart . . . that I may keep living.” This is the right motive. Pride, stubbornness, self-will, and independence are enemies of understanding. The person with true understanding does not think he knows everything; hence Proverbs 19:25 says, “There should be a reproving of the understanding one, that he may discern knowledge.” Because he is an understanding person, he is ready to listen, discerns the basis for the reproof, and benefits by it more than a stupid one would from a hundred strokes. - Bible Speaks - Lesson for today.
