Carrie Lee Steele Yancey, 83, Sandusky, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, in Providence Care Center, after fighting stroke recovery since 2016.
She was born Dec. 11, 1934, in Louisville, Miss., to Albert Curry “AC” Goss and Emma Lee Steele.
At an early age she relocated to Sandusky to be close to her late dear friend Idella Pace, and later met her husband, Randolph Yancey and they married July 4, 1971.
Later in life Carrie became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized on Sept. 14, 1975, and remained a faithful member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Carrie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend. She loved attending Kingdom Hall, going out on service, planting a beautiful garden, Her compassionate love, sweet character and smile will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Randolph; son, Willie C. (Billie) Steele; grandchildren, Natasha K. Steele and Mario Hardin; a niece, Dorothy Faye Johnson; nephews, Lester, Stanley, Randy, and Bernard Johnson; a host of step children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends; special friends, Claudia Cunningham, Michael Saunders, and Anne Saunders.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Lee Steele Johnson; and brother, Ellie Wraggs.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
