  2. Organizers of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Regional Convention for the B.C. Southern Interior hope to return to Penticton next year after more than a half-decade holding the annual event in the city. The 2018 convention this weekend marks the sixth straight year the convention has been held at the South Okanagan Events Centre, attracting more than 3,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses to the city. In fact, this year’s convention is estimated to have hit near the 3,500 mark in attendance, a slight rise over the year previous, which marked the end of a five-year contract to hold the event at the SOEC. The event began on Friday and continued through to Sunday at the SOEC. https://www.saobserver.net/community/convention-attracts-around-3500-jehovahs-witnesses-to-penticton/
  3. JOHNSTOWN -- More than 3,000 people were in Johnstown this weekend for the annual Jehovah’s Witnesses convention. It's a time of fellowship for many, but it also has a big impact on the local economy. It's the sixth year of the convention at the first summit arena at the Cambria County War Memorial. People from Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia joined together for the Jehovah’s Witnesses convention. While those inside benefit spiritually, local businesses also benefit financially. Read more: http://wjactv.com/news/local/jehovahs-witnesses-convention-helps-boost-local-economy
  4. Melody's Interview at 2017 "Don't Give Up" Regional Convention". Last year my wife and I attended an Assembly in Orangeburg, SC, where a brother in an interview on stage was proud that he had not said a single word to his disfellowshipped father in over 20 years. We were sitting up close and could see his face in person, and on the large monitors. His declaration of cruelty was followed by intense applause from the audience. We were stunned and horrified. This video was originally posted on YOUTUBE by the mother of Melody, at a Regional 2017 Convention where she is proud of having shunned her sister, who is disfellowshipped, but many adverse comments on YOUTUBE made her ashamed ..... and she took the posting down. I got this video copy from the Russian equivalent of YOUTUBE web site, RUTUBE.COM. After she details her cruelty to her sister, the audience reaction is vigorous applause. THIS IS WHY the Russian government and most of the people HATE Jehovah's Witnesses. Oblivious, clueless, extreme cruelty, in the name of righteousness. 8. FAIRBORN — Jehovah’s Witnesses will soon hold their annual regional conventions at the Wright State University Nutter Center and extend an open invitation for all to attend. The theme of this year’s program is “Remain Loyal to Jehovah!” Starting this weekend, and continuing for the next six weeks, Jehovah’s Witnesses will extend personal invitations to everyone from Indianapolis, Ind.; Dayton; Cincinnati; Columbus; Lexington, Ky. and surrounding areas to attend the convention. All of the local congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be involved in hand delivering printed invitations to the convention. The three-day program will feature 49 presentations, each exploring the theme “loyalty.” Additionally, the Witnesses have prepared 35 video segments specifically for the program plus two short films that will be shown on Saturday and Sunday. Each day, the morning and afternoon sessions will be introduced by music videos recorded for the convention. “We strongly believe that loyalty is an essential part of any healthy relationship,” said David Semonian, a spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses at their world headquarters in Brooklyn, New York. “Our convention this year features content that will help people develop stronger bonds with friends, family members and, above all, with God. We are confident that all who attend will enjoy this program.” Jehovah’s Witnesses invite people of all ages to attend. The first of four three-day events to be held in Fairborn will begin 9:20 a.m. Friday, June 17. There is no admission fee. Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are supported entirely by voluntary donations. 9. Jehovah’s Witnesses from around the region will gather in Billings for their annual three-day regional conventions. An estimated 3,500 adults and children from eastern Montana, the western part of North and South Dakota and northern Wyoming will meet Friday through Sunday in the Rimrock Arena at MetraPark. The public is invited to attend any of the meetings at the free gathering. “It really is the focal point where you get to strengthen yourself,” said local media spokesman Joe Kurkowski. “It’s good biblical counsel.” This year’s theme is “Remain Loyal to Jehovah!” “It's all predicated on trying to build our loyalty with family, with friends and, most importantly, with God," Kurkowski said. “And then there’s the opportunity to meet with friends from a four-state area, some of them who you only see once a year.” The convention is one of 446 that meet in 120 cities in the United States and a total of 5,000 in 92 countries around the world scheduled through January 2017. The Billings convention will feature 49 presentations, 35 video segments and two short films, all focused on the idea of “loyalty.” In addition to the spiritual benefits the Jehovah’s Witnesses receive, they also benefit the Billings economy while they’re in town, Kurkowski said. And they appreciate the service they get. “That’s what helps bring us back to Billings every year, the cooperation we receive from the Metra and the motels and eating establishments,” he said. In the weeks leading up to the convention, members also go door to door, dropping off invitations to homes in Billings and the surrounding towns. It’s a way to make individuals feel welcome to attend the meetings. “A convention is a good time to see what Jehovah’s Witnesses are and do, to see what we’re all about,” Kurkowski said. 11. Hotels in Penticton are looking forward this June to the return of one of the biggest annual conventions hosted at the South Okanagan Events Centre. This will be the fourth of five Jehovah's Witnesses conventions scheduled for the SOEC, drawing more than 3,000 church members to the South Okanagan. The annual conventions are a spiritual highlight for Jehovah’s Witnesses, focusing on bible education. Annually, seven million Jehovah’s Witnesses meet in 236 countries. In 2013, the South Okanagan Events Centre announced the signing of a five-year contract with the Jehovah’s Witnesses of Canada. This year, the convention takes place June 10-12 with the program beginning at 9:20 a.m. each day. The theme this year is Remain Loyal to Jehovah and the church welcomes all to attend any of the 49 convention sessions over the course of the three-day event. “Traditional values such as the quality of loyalty is something we appreciate in other people. Loyalty touches on all aspects of life,” said convention spokesman Peter Matkovich in a press release. The release also states Jehovah's Witnesses have appreciated the welcome they receive in Penticton, a feeling returned by local hotel operators. “Our staff and I have always found the convention delegates to be wonderful guests. It’s a weekend that we all look forward to,” it quotes Steve Taylor, assistant GM for the Days Inn. The Jehovah’s Witnesses of Canada have more information available online in the form of video trailers and a free program at jw.org. Source: http://www.pentictonwesternnews.com/news/380427491.html
