John Douglas Malpass, age 83, of Vicksburg, Michigan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. John was born July 9, 1934 to the late Richard Ward Malpass, Sr. and Harriet (Griggs) Malpass and raised in East Jordan, Michigan. He was also preceded in death by his brother Richard Ward Malpass, Jr. He will be missed by his wife of 56 years, Mary Lou (Haskins) Malpass. He is also survived by daughters Rhonda Malpass, Lori (Jim) Bottema, Wendy DeNeve, Shelly (Andrew) Odebrecht, Dawn (Hollis) VanderLoon, Julie (Mike) Lichter; seven grandchildren; siblings Julia Sheldon, Jody (Terry) Clark, and Robert (Lucille) Malpass; as well as many other loving friends and relatives. Even during his battle with vascular dementia, John displayed kindness and a sense of humor appreciated by all those he encountered. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24 at 3:00 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Vicksburg, Michigan.
