  6. Gilbert Jim Alit, a resident of California for over 65 years and of Yucca Valley for over 35 years, died March 2, 2019, at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was 78 years old. The son of Martha Dick and Felicisimo Alit, he was born April 20, 1940, in Alaska. Before he retired, he worked in transportation logistics and enjoyed driving big rigs. He also worked in real estate. Jim was a faithful, dedicated Jehovah’s Witness. You may have seen him most any Friday or Saturday mornings outside of Jelly Donut, talking with others about faith, love and kindness. His dedication to helping his fellow man has inspired many. His understanding of life and his love for Jehovah has given much hope for others and it helped Jim tremendously, to live in faith. Jim was a volunteer park ranger because he was in awe of the beautiful desert. He enjoyed photographing the blooms of the desert, the sun rising and falling upon the cacti he so adored. Jim was a nature lover and nature loved him back. He captured many moments on film and it was outdoors that he enjoyed most. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. March 23 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Yucca Valley, 7321 Lucerne Vista, Yucca Valley, CA 92284. He was a father to many and a friend to all he met. He had a sense of humor that was apparent until the very end. Jim was a strong man and overcame many obstacles during his time with us. He was always happy to help others, he enjoyed creating art and “fixing” things and he generally enjoyed life to its fullest! He will be remembered as a loving servant of Jehovah, a humorous man who loved his family and a friend till the end for so many people. We love you PPpPAW!

  11. Larry was born on May 8, 1940. Larry passed away on the morning of September 29, 2018 following a long battle with cancer. Larry’s body may have succumbed to this disease, but his spirit never faltered. Larry was born in Spokane, WA and graduated from Cheney High School in the class of 1958. Larry worked for Spokane County on the road crew for 27 years. His favorite thing to do at this job was to plough snow. After retiring Larry worked for his good friend Dave Silver at Automotive Specialties. A man of faith, Larry was an active member of the JehovahÂ’s Witnesses. He attended meetings at the Millwood branch Kingdom Hall. There is no measure to the importance this community played in his life. Larry made friends wherever he went, and he will also be missed by his friends at “PooleÂ’s” where he was a regular. First and foremost, Larry was dedicated to his family. Larry is survived by his sister Marilyn Lytle, his brothers Lonnie and Dick Christensen. Larry lived with his only daughter, Leisha Hodgson, her husband Mark Hodgson, and his grandchildren Kade Missamore, and Presley Hodgson. His grandchildren were his greatest joy. Just recently Larry realized his dream of buying Kade his first car (Thank you Wayne Missamore for making this happen). The light in his eyes shown most bright when he played with his granddaughter Presley Hodgson. This was a daily occurrence. Larry and Presley shared a bond of mutual love that few people ever have the privilege of having. Presley will never forget him. To see this bond between them grow over the years was a gift for everyone who saw it. Larry ‘s life was a blessing to every friend and family member that went through this experience with him, and his loss will be felt every day.
