  1. A memorial service for Laverne Wallace, 88, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Mrs. Wallace died Feb. 2, 2018. She was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Coleman to William (Slim) and Ruby Crews as the first of three children. After many moves in early years, they settled in Killeen, where she later met Bob Wallace and they were married on Aug. 17, 1946. She was a loving, faithful wife until his death on Dec. 21, 1991. Once their children were in school, she began working at Mickey’s Enterprises in 1967. Laverne had a deep love for the Bible and her God, Jehovah, and dedicated her life to Him on Aug. 4, 1956. Her devotion to her faith in Jehovah God was reflected in every area of her life. She loved talking to others about God’s Kingdom and the blessings it would bring and teaching the Bible truths to her own children and many other people. Her loving personal interest in others endeared her to all. Mrs. Wallace will be deeply missed and never forgotten. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Wallace; son, Lou Wallace; son-in-law, Tommy Dowell; grandchild, Shannon Free; sister, Faye Bahn. Mrs. Wallace leaves cherished memories to her children, Marilyn Free, Jan Dowell and Robert Wallace; son-in-law, Tracy Free; daughter-in-laws, Rebecca Wallace and Deborah Wallace; grandchildren, Stacy Dove (Jason), Crispin Free (Iona), Justin Dowell, Chantrey Free (Jenn), Courtney Free (Stella), Krystle Lange (Jacob), Lacey Barrett (Jonathan), Lindley Mendoza (TJ); great-grandchildren, McKayla, McKenzie, Michael, Donovan, Skyylar, Mikayla, Greyson, Thomas, Tessa and Brody; brother, Wayne Crews (Pat); and brother-in-law, Leon Bahn. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements. http://kdhnews.com/obituaries/laverne-wallace/article_1637fc4a-1201-11e8-9552-5f67c2547f7c.html
