  1. “Now that you have put away falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor.”—EPH. 4:25. Normally it is with our family that we have the closest bond. To strengthen this bond, it is vital that we speak truthwith one another. Many problems and misunderstandings can be reduced or eliminated by being open, honest, and kind in our communication. For example, when we make a mistake, do we hesitate to acknowledge it to our mate, to our children, or to other close family members? Offering a sincere apology from the heart helps to promote peace and unity within the family.—Read 1 Peter 3:8-10. Speaking truth does not mean that we should be blunt, tactless. Being rude does not increase the value of the truthor its impact. Paul said: “Let all malicious bitterness and anger and wrath and screaming and abusive speech be taken away from you along with all badness. But become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave you.” (Eph. 4:31, 32) When we speak in a kind and dignified manner, it elevates our message and shows honor to those to whom we speak.—Matt. 23:12.
