CNN Brutalized Over Headline on Lawsuit Filed by Kate Steinle’s Family Over Her Murder

“Kate Steinle’s family files lawsuit after her death on a San Francisco pier last summer.”

That’s the headline CNN ran on Friday night — and it resulted in some serious backlash from Twitter.

Steinle was allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant who was in possession of a stolen government-issued firearm. The suspect, Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, had reportedly been deported five times to Mexico and committed multiple felonies.

The lawsuit filed by Steinle’s family seeks unspecified damages for “failures to perform mandatory duties and/or for the unconstitutional and/or negligent acts and/or omissions of their officers, officials, agents and/or employees.” The suit specifically names the city and county of San Francisco, former county Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi and the United States
