American race car driver Alexander Rossi won Sunday’s 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 and brought the Borg-Warner trophy to the observation deck of the Empire State Building to meet the press Tuesday.

Speaking with a reporter from TMZ, Rossi was asked if President Barack Obama had called to congratulate him.

“No,” said Rossi, adding, “Now, that’s another thing that’s going to bum me out.”

The reporter pressed the Indy 500 winner, asking Rossi if he thought he should get a call from the president.

A chuckling Rossi responded, “Yeah, why not?” he said.

“That’s the most American thing we coulda done — 100th running of the Indy 500 in Indianapolis, American won. I think that’s pretty cool,” Rossi said. “So, Mr. President, I’ll be waiting.”
