David K. Martin was born in Aspen August 6, 1974, and died in Portland, Oregon, May 18, 2016, with his former wife, Amanda, her parents Brian and Tamara Allred of Vancouver, Washington, his beloved daughter Alia (10) and son Elijah (12), sisters-in-law Annie and Maria at his side. He is survived by his parents Andrew and Bonnie Martin of Aspen, Colorado, his brother John Paul (JP) and wife Ako and their children, Kaio and Seiji, of Truckee, California, and the extended loving Allred and Ray families.

David was known for his athleticism and sharing those skills with others. He demonstrated compassion for others, one time seeing a boy crash at Buttermilk ski area, he stopped and waited with him for the ski patrol and accompanied him to the hospital. The boy’s family later invited David to visit them in London. His quick smile and sense of humor lifted the spirits of those around him. In the nineties, he unselfishly volunteered and earned his own money to go to Belize twice, to work with a congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Punta Gorda. He walked many jungle miles along the Belize-Guatemala border to bring literature to local villages in their native languages. He said of this trek: “It was about like hiking to Snowmass Lake when I was 9, but with bugs.”

David dearly loved and cherished his children, Elijah and Alia, and they him. He had the great pleasure of teaching them to ski at Mt. Hood, Oregon, where he worked this winter.

We find comfort in the promise from the Scriptures that soon all of mankind’s suffering will end and Jehovah God will wipe out all tears and pain from all mankind on earth. (Revelation 21: 3,4) Rest in peace, Dear Son, until that time.

Funeral and cremation were held in White Salmon, Washington. Contributions may be made towww.gofundme/dmartinfun to establish an education fund for David’s children or directly to JP Martin, Box 3787, Truckee, CA 96160. Condolences to Martins may be sent to Box 4115, Aspen, CO 81612.
