Betty passed away at age 91 in her sleep after a recent illness. She was raised here in Atascadero where she finished high school. She was known in the comity as a hard worker and had been in food service most of her adult life. She was with the senior nutritional program for years. She began as a cook in the Atascadero senior center and in later years went on to become the site manager for the Santa Margarita senior center for several years; her last year being in 2001. 

She took great pride in her work and was known for making everything special. 

She was active and faithful as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and lived her faith. She was kind and loving to all who knew her and will be truly missed by all. 

Her memorial services will be Sept. 17, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Atascadero. Address: 6200 Santa Ynez Ave. 

Betty is survived by two children, Gale Petersen and Wayne Petersen, and had three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
