TA more recent (2009) study from The Netherlands16 concluded that: ‘Women who are Jehovah’s Witnesses are at a six times increased risk for maternal death, at a 130 times increased risk for maternal death because of major obstetric hemorrhage and at a 3.1 times increased risk for serious maternal morbidity because of obstetric hemorrhage, compared to the general Dutch population.’

The article highlights how J.W.-women are managed.

You are refering to this study. It uses data from clinical notes for the period from 1983 to 2006 for the mortality rates and from 2003 to 2006 for the mobidity rate. Note a difference? From 130 fold to 3.1 fold. What does this mean? Better methods and management were established. They are better now. Even better than the ones existing in 2009 when the study was made.

Also, from a medical statistics point of view, we are talking about 6 deaths in 8850 deliveries in a period of 23 years. Although this is humanly tragic, scientificaly is insignificant. So spare us the FUD please.

PS: The information given in a medical study is to be read by doctors and other caregivers and professionals of the sector, not the general public. You know why? Because the general public is simply not equiped to fully understand it.
