She was born Aug. 19, 1941, in Kelso, Washington, to Mack-Charles and Ila (French) Bond. She married Kermit L. Knutsen March 10, 1962, in Chehalis, Washington.

They lived in Washington and Alaska before moving to Brookings in 2009. Helen was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include her husband Kermit of Brookings; children Jerry Althof of Brookings, Leroy Knutsen and his wife Lea of North Pole, Alaska, Julie Fleming of Wichita, Kansas, and Ron Knutsen of North Pole. Also surviving are nine grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren; brother Dallas Bond of Brookings; and sister Pauline of Lakeview.

Helen was preceded in death by her brothers Donald and Charles, and her parents.

A memorial service was previously held.
