MARY ELLEN FRIES

Mary Ellen Fries, 79, peacefully departed this earth on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Manor Care Health Services, Largo, Maryland.

Born in Sumter County on April 19, 1937, she was the daughter of the late the Rev. David and Elmeta Alston Ramsey.

She received her formal education in the public schools of Sumter County. She graduated from cosmetology school in New York and worked as a beautician for several years. In her later years, she worked as a home health aide until her retirement.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Edward Fries III.

Mary Ellen was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years. Introduced to the faith during her early years, she continued her devotion becoming a faithful member of Kingdom Hall of Lyman Road in Sumter.

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Tuesday Fries of Bowie, Maryland; one son, Timothy (Angel) Fries; two sisters, Juanita (Elbert) Deas and Amelia (Dennis) Nickens; and two brothers, Louis Ramsey and Leroy (Marie) Ramsey, of Sumter; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Homegoing celebration services will be held at noon on Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 100 Lynam Road, Sumter.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Amelia (Dennis) Nickens, 870 Mayfield Drive, Sumter.

The funeral procession will leave from the home at 11:20 a.m.

Services are directed by the management and staff of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter.
