Forums v. Social Media

There has been a lot of chatter about social media taking over forums traffic.

Do you think that social media has now created "forums" within themselves?

Will forums catch up to social media and start to improve their messaging and threaded replies?

I am starting to see a convergence of the two that I sometimes want to call forums 2.0.

Even this forum has much more capability that the forum 1.0 of even 10 years ago.

Your thoughts?
