Amazon Studios put its chief Roy Price on an immediate leave of absencefollowing allegations of sexual harassment. 

Price reportedly made inappropriate comments to a female producer in 2015, but his misdeeds don’t stop there: actress Rose McGowan said she alerted Price that Harvey Weinstein had abused her, but Price remained silent. She’s also criticized Price for doing business with film studio Weinstein Co. (with two projects under development). 

Of course, Weinstein Co. is the same company whose former co-chairman, Harvey Weinstein, was ousted following sexual harassment allegations from dozens of women.

Moving forward, Amazon’s video business will be without its leader…though it’s questionable if that’ll make any difference. While Amazon will pour about $4 billion into video this year (and has a few success stories like Transparent), it failed to grab any 2017 Emmys.

High-powered producer David Kelley’s thoughts on the division? “A bit of a gong show.”
