Elaine Marie Bruns, 63, of Portage, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Elaine was born on July 22, 1954, in Madison, WI to Curtis and Mamie (Roscoe) York. She graduated from Poynette High School in 1973 and was baptized that same year as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and regularly attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Portage. She had such a strong faith and zeal for her beliefs which was admired by many and she loved sharing her faith with others. On April 3, 1976 Elaine wed Ronald Bruns in Portage. They were married for 34 years until her husband's passing on March 9, 2011.

Aside from her faith, Elaine had great fondness for her family and loved spending time with them any chance that she got. She enjoyed riding her horse Lily through the woods, farm life and taking walks to enjoy nature. She will be tenderly remembered as a compassionate and loving soul who cared incessantly about those whom she loved.

Elaine is survived by her son Tyler (Vicki) York, daughters DeeAnn Bruns, Jennifer Bruns and Rhonda (Jaren) Parchem; her sisters, Barb (Dan) Smith, Gail Fiese, Linda (Glen) Dettman and a brother, Curt York; grandchildren, Tony (Courtney) York, Ryan York, Ian (Chelsea) Goakey, Isabella Goakey, Izekeiel Goakey, Alicia Guevara and Bentley Bruns; and one great-grandchild, Hope Lilly Grace York; along with many nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Cassidy Lynn York.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 12:30 p.m. at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, Wisconsin. Friends and family are invited to visitation starting at 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on the second and fifth floors at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison along with the staff at Portage CSP and related programs for their attentiveness and care.
