My thoughts exactly @The Librarian So many concerning takeaways from this article. 1. It's a-okay for the org to completely restrict an entire area of preaching (social media). Social media

I won't speak for the @admin since he is probably not even aware of this "controversy" right now.... BUT.... I just can't imagine Jesus Christ creating JesusChrist.org to publish his words..

From the April 2018 Watchtower, p. 30-31. This is a bona fide, unadulterated copy (honest).  What are your thoughts on this article? Btw, I hope the irony of posting this here is not lo

Firstly, is the naming of theworldnewsmedia.org genuine?

No, it's not there of course. We would not do that. Here is the article:

https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/watchtower-study-april-2018/publications-personal-websites/

I may get sued for this!

Actually I shouldn't because by posting this link I am directing people to our website. So all is good :)

" Therefore, as the Terms of Use indicates, you may e-mail someone an electronic copy of a publication or share a link to material found on jw.org."

No it's not lost, but I'm afraid you have misunderstood. The article is mainly concerned about websites and apps posing as genuine official JW websites or apps.  Posting links to JW.org on a website such as this is fine. There is absolutely no reason to shut this or any other website such as this down. It's obvious it's not posing as an official JW website, lol.

But obviously what you have done (or someone else) with overwriting worldnewsmedia.org over a copyrighted WT picture is misleading therefor a misuse of copyright.

So, with regret Ann, you have demonstrated the reason for the Society's warning: "If the spiritual food passes through other channels, there is no guarantee that it has not been altered or contaminated." (I will resist posting the other two words).

Is it time for the forum to close? That's a decision for those who run it. But for any genuine Jehovah's Witnesses, it is time to say.... goodbye! :(

In the short time I have been active here, I have gained a most useful insight into the thinking of a wide range of people, both favourably and unfavourably disposed. I have picked up a wealth of information on a whole range of topics I probably would not have been able to discuss anywhere else. I like to think I may have been able to contribute a little with 1096 upvotes of one type or another.

I have noted of late a more determined "anti" GB presence here, and I include the tendency of some to rather patronisingly treat them with disrespect. I suppose an inevitable price that is paid to have a tolerant, freedom of speech policy, but a sad reality of any freedom is that abuse by a few brings restriction for many!

So, to those of you with whom the interchange has been pleasant,

¡Te veo en el otro lado, espero!

And to those of you who felt otherwise, thanks for the time.

You may look for me, but this time I really have gone fishing.jpgfor good! :)

BUT....

I just can't imagine Jesus Christ creating JesusChrist.org to publish his words... and then tell everyone that nobody has the legal right to copy his words.

If anything EVERY KING of Israel was to MAKE A COPY of the scrolls.... to what purpose? TO SHARE THEM.

The Watchtower Lawyers are thinking of JW.org as a money making for profit corporation instead of the charity and group of like minded bible students that it should be and was at one time..

When the apostles were angered that others were preaching the gospel of Jesus what did he tell them?

"Round up the Christian Lawyers" ... NO!!!

Advertise, Advertise , Advertise the King and His Kingdom......hmmm......

    • I suspect that @Mic Drop, the original poster of this topic, didn't expect it to turn into a discussion about interpretation of Bible prophecy. But it might be interesting to bring this up elsewhere. If you'd like, I (or you) could start a new topic under one of the JW forums. I just noticed something in that Daniel passage for the first time today.
    • (Daniel 11:43) . . .And he will rule over the hidden treasures of gold and silver and over all the desirable things of Egypt. And the Libʹy·ans and the E·thi·oʹpi·ans will be at his steps. I guess this assessment is a bit controversial...
    • The tactic of labeling things as fascist, nazi, racist, communist, socialist, when they are not, is a real thing. And I suspect this kind of tactic has been used on all sides of opposing ideologies. It's curious however, that G. Edward Griffin only pretends to be giving a source for the initial quote that he "reads from a book" to make it appear more credible, but doesn't provide specifics about the source. Yet, it's exactly the kind of projectionism and reverse counter-blaming that has now been openly admitted to have been used against communism and third party political groups, etc., as a useful tactic. The John Birch Society has specifically been caught making up such things so that persons like Ronald Reagan and others would repeat them without question. There's a pretty good discussion of this supposed quote on stackexchange. The rest of this post contains only excerpts from that discussion: https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/44039/was-this-communist-party-directive-from-1943-genuine Was this Communist Party Directive from 1943 genuine? It is attributed in the video as "In 1943 the following directive was issued from party headquarters to all communists in the United States" however I have been unable to source this document, if it exists. It is claimed as false in They Never Said It : A Book of Fake Quotes, Misquotes, and Misleading Attributions wherein the following passage appears on page 18: 25 I'm not sure that we can provide better sources than what you have already found. The quote sounds made up and is only spread by biased, far-right organizations who don't supply sources for it which could be followed up on. On the other hand, you have two professors of history and political science saying that it is almost certainly fake, and a reference to a letter from the Library of Congress which couldn't find such a directive. – tim ♦ May 16, 2019 at 9:24 2 Agreed with @tim, you're not gonna get a better source than the sources that claim it as bunk. Furthermore, that book was from 1989, and in the 30 years since then no one has ever produced the actual document. The reasoning in the book is also sound. – DenisS May 16, 2019 at 19:24 9 1943 would have been a little early to try and harness rabid anti- nazism and anti-anti-semitism in the US, would it not? There were nazi parades in all the US up to 1940. Henry Ford had written 'The International Jew' and wasn't ostracized. – bukwyrm May 16, 2019 at 19:42   It seems quite incompatible with recorded history. One expert verdict of "made-up" is already in the question. Proving a negative is not easy. But there is plenty of circumstantial evidence to support it. The language used, the political connections drawn and most important: the date alawys used in this unsourced propaganda from anti-communists lessen the probability and plausibility severely.
    • I don't know if you were distinguishing oil from natural gas, but the idea makes even less sense when it's realized that the timing of the explosions coincided with the opening of the Baltic pipelines which replace some of what Nord Stream was capable of supplying.

In 1270 The Catalan monk Raymundus Martine wrote the name Jehova....in his book PUGIO FIDEI, this is the oldest found version of the name of Jehovah, complete with vowels inserted.
Raymundus Martini was an expert on the Hebrew and Latin languages, and was acquainted with the Jewish scriptures.
The Hebrew name of God with only the vowels JHVH, (note that both V and W were used in Hebrew) dates from UR of the Chaldeans, where archaeologist Delitszch found a cuneiform tablet with the name of God, on the Hebrew related. The origin of that clay tablet must have been about 2200 BC. So in ancient Babylon the name of Yahve or Jehovah, the later God of the Israelites, was already known at that time.
