Elsie Domingues, 80, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, died in her sleep on Thursday, Jan. 11 in Las Vegas, Nev.

She was born in Clarksdale, Ariz., to Joe Thomas and Mabel Hood, the youngest of seven children.

Elsie met her husband, Frank Domingues, in Yosemite National Park. He preceded her in death in 1997. They were married for 41 years.

Elsie had eight children. The youngest,

Lisa Colvin, preceded her in death in 2008. Her surviving children are Yolanda Cheley, Serena Altman, Frank Domingues III, Angela Holdridge, Adrienne Telliano, Heidi McCann and Veronica Gebhart. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Elsie worked at Yosemite National Park for 24 years. She retired to Mariposa for some years and then moved to Las Vegas. She enjoyed the warm weather of Las Vegas.

She was God-fearing and a faithful servant to her faith. Elsie loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5292 Highway 49 North in Mariposa. A gathering will be held following the service at 2:30 p.m. at the Midpines Hall, 6364 Highway 140 in Midpines. There will be food and fellowship at the gathering.
