The Poulsbo Historical Society maintains a small office in the Poulsbo City Hall accessible by appointment only. Their collection consists of over 1,000 photos; taped oral histories; paper items (books, annuals, maps, calendars, newspapers, etc); and artifacts (stored in storage units).

The new Suquamish Museum facility, designed by Seattle based Mithun Architects, opened in September 2012. From the moment you walk between the welcoming posts, the path through the new exhibit, Ancient Shores – Changing Tides will engage your senses. Movement, textures, a forest-inspired environment and the symbolic movement of the tide will touch the imagination. The objects owned by the Suquamish Museum, many never before exhibited, and those on loan from Suquamish families and other museums, will engage visitors to learn about the lives and culture of the Suquamish and Coast Salish Tribes. Also, visit the site of the traditional Suquamish winter village site on Agate Passage at, Old Man House Park, and stop by the gravesite of a famous Suquamish leader Sealth, better by his anglicized name, Seattle, known and celebrated throughout the world for his wisdom during a time of great change for his people.

The USS Turner Joy


((DD-951) shown above) A restored Vietnam era destroyer - the first permanent, and publicly accessible, Naval heritage and educational ship attraction in the Pacific Northwest. USS Turner Joy (DD-951), Naval Memorial Ship museum, is a restored Vietnam era destroyer that can be toured from the boiler room to the bridge.Available for group tours, meetings and banquets, and now youth group overnights.

Located in historic Building 50, relocated to the current location, The Puget Sound Navy Museum offers up-close look at life on the sea, important moments for the Navy in Puget Sound and the history of the Naval Shipyard. Children can grab hold of the captains steering wheel and pretend to steer a boat to safety. Be sure to see the Japanese swords collections, a real mine and the Russian uniforms.

Oldest lighthouse on Puget Sound, in continuous service since Jan 1, 1880. The lighthouse was manned until 1980, when it was automated by the Coast Guard.
