WT: Damaris rejects a scholarship and chooses to work in a bank instead because she PLANNED to become a pioneer. If she planned to pioneer, why did she even apply for university in the first place?

Surely a university didn‚Äôt randomly approach her and give her a scholarship? ūüôĄ

This week's WT-study:

The Watchtower - April 2018 - "Young People, Are You Focused on Spiritual Goals?"

    Hello guest!

Watchtower is trying to influence those who might be thinking about a university level education to drop the idea, based on simplistic and anecdotal information

First, lawyers are usually not talking to bank staff - the lawyer's assistant is.

Second, what lawyer ever says: "I'm so unhappy," especially to some random person at a bank.

That doesn't invalidate the reality that just because one person noticed that some of the millions of people who followed the career path are unhappy, does not mean that it is wrong to follow that career path or that anyone who does will be unhappy. Flawed reasoning at its worst. Notice I did not say logic, because there is no logic to their reasoning.

They cut the ending off a little prematurely.

"My decision to pioneer helped me sidestep frustration, straight into manic depression, and have existed there for the past 15 years, and will most likely remain there untiL I die. Not unless I commit suicide to get out the the absolute hell hole ive been in all this time - I can see no way out of.

I gave up my youth, my education, my family, my career goals to pioneer, to stand now beside a cart.

If i could talk to myself again, I would tell myself to run...run and never look back.

If i could tell the young ones reading this article, one thing to learn from my experience.....

Run, run and never look back. You have time, i dont."

THE END.

I knew it was you who had that experience. That's what gives it such credibilaty! I mean, credability! Or do I mean, credibilalitie! (I wish I had stayed at college and not gone on that cart!!)

This would suggest, higher education was not needed to work with what was available back in the day. Since humanity has changed? Then, higher education is needed for all the technological advancements that weren’t around.

Its moves with the sign of the times. However, if someone desires spiritual growth, who can decide how someone should follow Christ as a poor man, that needed nothing but the generosity of others, and he gave the same advice to his apostles, that followed his teachings to the very end in the same fashion, even though some were successful.

Therefore, where is it said, that life is a guarantee for someone’s success. If there is? Where is it, so everyone can sign up.

Surprinsingly I agree with you this time¬†ūüėā

Happiness has to do with many different issues, particularly internal issues of everyone.

Exactly, for instance, in some banks in Central America I know you have to get higher education to work in banks¬†unless you work as a cleaning person. And I do not know about¬†part time jobs in banks. I do not know either what Damaris does at the bank¬†ūüėĀ

My daughter has a part time job in a major bank ... as a teller.

With a Law degree she could have a part time job at the same major bank as a mortgage specialists or legal department, etc. for about 4 to 7 times the pay.

I have gotten jobs where there was NO OPENINGS, but because of my skill sets, they CREATED a job for me.

One time I spent six months working on whatever interested me at full pay, waiting for them to find a suitable project.

I looked very busy studying structural engineering.

Earlier in my life, with few skills ... I could not BUY a job ... and nearly starved.

Once again, who can guarantee someone’s success? If a person is happy? Why does it matter? If a wealthy individual is happy contributing with their personal time to do charity work, instead of spreading the wealth? Then why should it matter? If a poor woman gave everything she had (2 cents) while rich people only gave because it was extra? Then who will God appreciate as he did with Cain and Abel?

How should success be measured?

Can we quantify success from those that cheat to pass college? How about those that are guaranteed high college scores because of the advantage they have with their parent’s reputation. How about people like Bernard Madoff that stole anywhere from 50-65 billion of investors’ money, and his children attended good colleges, and yet, Mark Madoff ended up committing suicide. Why? While, all the money in the world couldn’t save Andrew Madoff from cancer, ending his life.

    Hello guest!

Where’s the proof and guarantee? Of peoples success because they should have pursued higher education?

...janitor or lawyer... window cleaner or bank director - all have chance to be very happy or very unhappy.

...religious or atheist... member of JWorg or member of some other group - they all have same/similar problems.

But when WT chiefs princes teaching the flock to be poor in "worldly Truths" aka education but to be reach (i mean rich - you see what looks like when you have lack of education :) ) in "WT Truth" aka uninspired, err doctrines and instructions that have to be obeyed,  that have to guide your personal life ... then your primary goal, inside need to be happy, as a human, is under attack of Organized, Corporation's manipulation.

The Winter Olympics? The f***ing Winter Olympics.
So you're telling me this lady was one of the best athletes in her nation, good enough to go to the Olympic f***ing Games, a level of skill which already requires incredible dedication to reach. Which she passed on to go be a regular pioneer instead.
And this was back in the 80s since it's been over 30 years. Well sister, you passed on a rare, once in a lifetime opportunity to do something only a handful of people get a chance to, something which apparently you had already been training to do, in order to do something you could have started the next fucking year.
But I mean the end was probably so close, wasn't it? I'm sure you'll get extra Paradise for banging on people's doors to annoy them at 9:40am instead of the 15-ish months you'd have spent training doing a thing you apparently love to compete at Lake Placid or wherever.
      The f***ing Olympics, bullshit.

      Paragraph 16:
One does simply not join a sports club without any knowledge of what kind of sport it is!
"Hey newfound friend. Would you like to join our sports club?"
"Yeah.. Of course.. What is it all about?"
      "It's no big deal."
      "Is it soccer?"
      "Nah.."
      "Curling? Dart? Diving?"
"Join the club, and you'll find out.."
"Is it golf? Oh man.. I love golf.."
      "Just sign here.."
      [Few weeks later..]
"Oh.. It was MMA. I'm happy no one brought golf clubs, then.."
With that disability to critical thinking, before signing up to anything, I wouldn't consider "Christoph's" baptism as a true sign of "strong faith"..

    • I disagree. Jesus "framework" is/are¬†interpreted many times by many people or¬†organizations as how they see how would Jesus do this or that. So when you put quote that sound so final and as¬†definitive diagnosis; "¬†the Watchtower has the same framework as Jesus did", i must be careful, alert¬†:)))) Not forget how¬†same WT using¬†phrases (when they explaining GB doctrines) as "Jesus must be thinking this or that, he obviously mean this or that. So, please do not call for Jesus authority when promote own or GB ideas :))¬†¬†
    • Then you will notice, the Watchtower has the same framework as Jesus did, to separate church from state. So, it is not what the GB is saying, it is what scripture is saying. The majority of former witnesses fail to make that distinction. ¬†As for the trolling, from everyone here, that‚Äôs to be expected. There‚Äôs only one cure. The moral fiber of some is zero.
    • My opinion is not of some importance now. It is more important how WT define it and how some of people who participate in this forum¬†as WT defender, are not ¬†in¬†harmony /unity, obeying)¬†what GB told them, instructing and teaching. Let see what i found in JW publications. Politicians, activists, and reformers have long struggled to find solutions to divisive issues. Their efforts may be sincere and well-motivated. Yet, Christians recognize that only God‚Äôs Kingdom can solve mankind‚Äôs problems and guarantee true justice. We must leave the matter in Jehovah‚Äôs hands. After all, if each Christian advocated the solution he thought best, would not our congregations soon become divided? -¬† Hello guest! They await the day and hour when qualified intervention by God will come. Only he has the wisdom and the power to bring lasting solutions to mankind. Through their preaching work, Jehovah‚Äôs Witnesses reassure those who are suffering from injustices that such relief is soon to come. -¬† Hello guest!
