Well.. at least a few remember it. I guess we normally didn't take photos at such events. It's not like we had cell phones with cameras back then. How time flies by.... Not many people will

Anyone else remember goodie night at the book study? When everyone would just bring a ton of food. Does anyone have any photos of such a moment they could share?

Never heard of it.

The Librarian reacted to this Confused

Confused?

This was just never mentioned as a "goodie night" in my country ( I have only been in 10 congregations mind you).

Having food after book studies was the usual thing in my experience. We often do it now after special congregation meetings and always after our monthly congregational meetings for field service. We never think of it as something special, it's just business as usual. I'm as interested as you are in places where customs may be different.

It was not something generally done, but from time to time a few brothers would do it.  I experienced it when I was very young, at some Book Study homes, and overseas  also in Trinidad two old sisters (who were physical sisters as well) had the study in their home and they would always bake cakes and cookies.  Then sometimes others would also bring stuff to add.  But it was never tons of food.

It is a good way to show hospitality to several brothers at one time, but it is not generally or regularly done.

One sister recently started to invite brothers to her home after field service for refreshments, a few went from time to time, but it petered out as after field service it is near lunch time, and you have your own lunch to eat, so why spoil your appetite with sweets and things like that.

Yeah ... we had "Goodie Night" about once a month, after the "Tuesday Night" "bookstudy", and it was very enjoyable.

Brothers and Sisters would bring goodies, and sit around on a sugar high, and talk to each other, sharing congregational and personal experiences.  Lots of laughter and jokes, and "tall tales", and experiences.

I miss that.

A LOT.

I suspect it was this free flow of un-scripted information was why it was REALLY cancelled.

How time flies by....

Not many people will remember such times (even less as the next 30 years flies by)

I know the @admin hates "Link Rot" but I can only imagine how in 30 years all of these websites and even jw.org will be gone just like many of the early internet conversations are rarely ever seen or indexed by Google. (that is if they even exist at all anymore)

Listserv

Google Groups

Yahoo forums (I can't remember what they used to be called) . Maybe Yahoo 360?

Or even the huge email conversations we used to have and exchange on certain topics....

All gone.....

Maybe that is why I like Books so much?
