No. This message pops up because such an app requires it, so when you are downloading any form of media, it goes to your folders. This is no different from a UAC on Windows or Permission options on an Android/Apple device.

Last I check, that app is no social media based app, just simply content pertaining to audio, video media, pdfs, and so forth.

Example would be if you go to that app and download a video, it will not just be on that app, but in your items folder and or gallery.

If you think this is surveillance stuff, you are, dare I say a big fool to think of such.

That being said, I know this because I have some technologies and networking experience with devices, mainly windows, but I tend to dwell on android and apple items too.

 

Also a side note: Android Marshmallow 6.0 asks for permissions occasionally now regardless of what you use.
