Jehovah's Witnesses produce literature in 48 indigenous languages ​​of Mexico

In Mexico alone there are 68 indigenous languages and more than 300 linguistic variants, which places the country on the list of the eight nations that concentrate half of the languages spoken in the world. Because languages in the world are disappearing at an alarming rate, many organizations seek to raise awareness about the importance of linguistic diversity, and develop measures at the local and global level to rescue them. Thus, they intend to avoid losing the history and traditions of the people who speak them.

Currently, Jehovah's Witnesses produce publications (both print and digital) in some 48 native languages of Mexico. Only in 2018, 529 different publications were printed, which are also available in audio, for the benefit of those who do not know how to read their language. In addition, many of these languages produce high quality educational videos for young and old.

Josué Zañudo, spokesman for the Jehovah's Witnesses, said: "When people read and hear our publications in their mother tongue, they understand them easily and their message reaches their hearts. For this reason, we encourage the reading of texts with moral and spiritual values when distributing them free of charge ".

For this purpose, Jehovah's Witnesses are present at the First Indigenous Linguistic Exhibition in the Zócalo of Mexico City. Only the first day they distributed more than 100 publications in different indigenous languages.

      Los implicados que tienen una orden de aprehensión por el delito de homicidio calificado, fueron entregados con las autoridades correspondientes, las cuales determinarán su situación jurídica por el homicidio de siete miembros de una familia.

      Zamora, 27 ene (EFE).- La organización de Testigos de Jehová ha recordado este miércoles a las más de 2.000 personas de este grupo religioso que se calcula que murieron en los campos de concentración con motivo de la celebración del Día Internacional de Conmemoración en Memoria de la Víctimas del Holocausto.
      Al cumplirse este miércoles 76 años de la liberación del campo de Auschwitz, este colectivo ha subrayado en un comunicado que junto a sus miembros hubo millones de víctimas del nazismo que fueron perseguidos.
      Ha explicado además que aunque el número de Testigos de Jehová fallecidos parezca "insignificante" y se pueda "diluir entre el inmenso torrente de víctimas" del nazismo, la persecución que sufrieron sus miembros fue proporcionalmente muy importante.

      Los testigo de Jehová en México ascienden a casi un millón, ante la pandemia adaptan su misión evangelizadora para evitar contagios. Son reconocidos por su labor permanente de puerta en puerta en los domicilios para predicar la Biblia, no obstente, cambiaron su dinámica evangelizadora y ahora realizan llamadas telefónicas al azar a través de un call center y reparten  cartas “con mensajes de aliento” por debajo de las puertas.
      También suspendieron las congregaciones, donde se reunían más de 150 personas, mínimo dos veces por semana; ahora son a través de Zoom.
      En palabras de Josué Zañudo, representante de la Sección de Información de la Congregación Cristiana de los Testigos de Jehová en México: “Nuestra predicación, que antes hacíamos en los domicilios, ahora la ejercemos mediante llamadas telefónicas y con cartas a través de un mensaje breve, pero a la vez animador, para entregar a nuestros vecinos y así no hay ningún riesgo (…) Hemos sentido que, sobre todo en estos tiempos de pandemia, la gente sí agradece las llamadas, las cartas; algunos han perdido seres queridos y las palabras de la Biblia les han caído muy reconfortantes”.

      Doña Gabina murió mientras se dirigía al Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, en busca de una cama de hospital tras personar síntomas graves de covid-19.

      Luego de esperar, sin éxito, una cama con ventilador en la Unidad de Infectología del Hospital Centro Médico Nacional La Raza, del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), doña Gabina falleció por covid-19 en el trayecto mientras se dirigía al Autódromo Hermano Rodríguez. “Ayer mismo cuando regresamos ya no aguanto mi mamá, se sentía muy mal y falleció en el camino. En el camino falleció”, comentó Laura, hija de doña Gabina, quien procreó y educó a 8 hijos. El cuerpo de doña Gabina se encuentra resguardado en una funeraria y será cremada en una horas. Laura recuerda que tuvo covid. “Acabo de salir, me dieron de alta hace tres días, estuve muy enferma. Mi hermano está encerrado (en casa) porque tiene covid junto con su familia. Nosotros nos infectamos varios”.

      En Jalisco, los Testigos de Jehová han cumplido un papel importante en materia de inclusión entre la población sorda. En el seno de esta comunidad han encontrado mayor inclusión de lo que el estado puede garantizar en educación, salud y cultura, pues desde hace 30 años a nivel nacional y hace 20 a nivel estatal trabajan con personas sordas y las acompañan de cerca.
      Actualmente en la entidad hay una comunidad de 500 personas sordas que se congregan con este grupo religioso, y de acuerdo con las cifras internas hay un crecimiento anual del 3%.
      Para Carlos Amadeus, de 17 años, unirse a los Testigos de Jehová impactó en su estilo de vida: se siente más feliz, se siente incluído.

      La pandemia del COVID-19 ha hecho que el tele trabajo sea la forma de vida de millones de personas, invitando al trabajo a quedarse en casa, sin delimitar horarios, sin embargo, es muy importante el equilibrio de cumplir con el trabajo pero sin descuidar la atención a la familia y lograr la armonía familiar para su buen desarrollo, así lo informó Ernesto Arámburo Ceseña, de Testigos de Jehová.
      Comentó en entrevista que a medida que el mundo cambia se haca cada vez más difícil separar el tiempo que se dedica al trabajo y el que se dedica a la familia.
      Las jornadas laborales son cada vez más largas y la tecnología abre la posibilidad de estar conectados resolviendo asuntos de trabajo, incluso en horarios que deberían de ser para la familia.
      La conciliación de la vida personal y laboral, dijo, es un reto del que hablan hoy los expertos. Esta conciliación consiste en saber ser equilibrado y separar el trabajo de los demás aspectos de la vida, lo que incluye el matrimonio, el cuidado de los seres queridos y el bienestar personal. Sin embargo, cada vez hay menos tiempo para conservar y dar prioridad a los asuntos familiares

      Sin importar arriesgar su vida, ciudadanos acapulqueños pertenecientes a la congregación de los Testigos de Jehová, armaron una brigada para sofocar un incendio forestal en Cumbres de Figueroa.
      La tarde de este lunes, unas 20 personas se dieron cita en el cerro del mencionado asentamiento para hacer frente a la conflagración dónde no habían llegado personal de Bomberos, Protección Civil o la Conafor.

      Los policías llegaron al lugar y dentro de un inmueble encontraron sin vida a José Contreras D., de 55 años de edad, así como J. Jesús E., G., de 34 años de edad y a su hijo Samuel E., V., de 6 años de edad, los cuales presentaban diversos impactos de bala en su cuerpo.
      La zona fue resguardada y más tarde llegó personal de la Unidad Especializada en la Escena del Crimen (UECS), quienes embalaron 41 casquillos percutidos calibre 7.62x39 y seis casquillos percutidos calibre 45 milímetros.
      Las víctimas se encontraban realizando un oficio religioso cuando, sin mediar palabras, irrumpieron los delincuentes y abrieron fuego en su contra; hasta el momento se desconoce el probable móvil del múltiple crimen

      La esposa de Daniel solicitó trabajo en una tienda de autoservicio ubicada en la ciudad de Puebla y fue rechazada sólo por ser “Testigo de Jehová”.
      En seguimiento al reporte del auditorio de oronoticias, Daniel calificó de ofensivo, retrógrado y brutalmente discriminatorio que esto suceda en el año 2020, ya que considera que debe de evaluarse a la gente por sus valores, currículum y desempeño laboral y no por su religión.
      La mujer de 41 años, vio la oportunidad de trabajar en la tienda, por lo que presentó su solicitud, pero durante la primera entrevista, le abordaron el tema de la religión y de manera abrupta cortaron su intención:
      “Resulta que la persona se le ocurrió preguntarle de qué religión era y mi esposa le dijo nosotros somos Testigos de Jehová, no somos católicos, en ese momento la persona dijo,no, nos interesa tenerte aquí porque ustedes los Testigos de Jehová siempre tienen muchas actividades en su religión y si me vas a estar pidiendo permiso para faltar… mi esposa se sorprendió y le respondió, todavía ni entro a trabajar, ni sé el horario, ni sueldo apenas estoy viendo voy a hacer un examen y ya me estás diciendo todo eso”, comentó Daniel.
      En respuesta, la Comisión Estatal de Derechos Humanos, lo invitó a acudir a sus oficinas para presentar su queja donde un abogado le dará la atención o en su caso, lo canalizará y brindará acompañamiento con la instancia adecuada.

      Juan Pablo Martínez Vazquez es el nombre de la víctima de este negocio clandestino, quien era habitante de la misma localidad
      Este lunes 3 de febrero falleció el despachador del establecimiento que comerciaba gasolina de forma clandestina en Lamadrid, Coahuila, esto luego que desde el sábado cuando se registró un fuerte incendio en el sitio, luchará por su vida con apoyo de especialistas de una clínica de Monterrey, Nuevo León. 
      Juan Pablo Martínez Vazquez es el nombre de la víctima de este negocio clandestino, quien era habitante de la misma localidad.
      La mañana de este lunes, el alcalde Andres Vazquez Garza quien dio a conocer que esta venta clandestina se viene dando de forma natural en su municipio desde hace más de 40 años, publicó lo siguiente en su perfil de Facebook:
      “Mis más sentidas condolencias para la familia Martínez García en Lamadrid, Coahuila, por el sensible fallecimiento del señor Juan Pablo Martínez Vázquez, quien en vida fue siempre una persona de familia, responsable y trabajadora, además miembro de la congregación de los Testigos de Jehová en este municipio. Fue apreciado por sus familiares, por la comunidad en general, sus vecinos y amigos.
      Deseo pronta resignación a su señora esposa y a todos sus seres queridos.

      BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A state agency has determined that the Montana Women's Prison discriminated against an inmate on the basis of religion.
      The Billings Gazette reports that the Montana Human Rights Bureau found in February there was "reasonable cause" to believe there was discrimination against Mayson Simmons.
      Simmons' complaint filed in August says the Department of Corrections and the prison in Billings violated the law by allowing inmates of other religious faiths to use a prison chapel for services while denying access to Jehovah's Witnesses.
      The bureau says it did not find sufficient evidence to back up Simmons' claims she was denied a Jehovah's Witness bible or that she was discriminated against based on her gender and a disability.
      Prison officials deny any discrimination occurred.
      The case will proceed to a formal hearing.

      HELSINKI, April 17. /TASS/. Finland’s migration service has turned down the vast majority of asylum requests filed by Russian members of Jehovah’s Witnesses (outlawed in Russia), because it sees no real threat for the group’s members in their home country, the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper reported on Wednesday.
      According to the paper’s sources, in 2017-2019 the Finnish authorities have received about 250 asylum requests from members of the religious organization, which Russia outlawed in 2017. To date, 90 of those requests have already been considered and only 10% received a positive response.
      The requests were rejected, because the Finnish authorities “believe that Russia is a safe country” for Jehovah’s Witnesses, Helsingin Sanomat said.
      Jehovah’s Witnesses is an international religious organization that supports offbeat views on the essence of the Christian faith and provides special interpretations of many commonly accepted notions.
      In August 2017, the Russian Justice Ministry included the Jehovah’s Witnesses organization and its 395 local religious branches to the list of organizations that are outlawed nationwide. The Russian Supreme Court satisfied the claim of the Justice Ministry to shut down the organization on April 20, 2017.

      In a very sad case, a seven-year-old boy from Bulawayo is reported to have lost his leg because his parents are refusing to allow him to have a blood transfusion because of their religious beliefs.
      According to the Sunday News, the 7-year-old (name withheld for ethical reasons) suffered a cancerous tumour on his left leg which saw him being admitted at United Bulawayo Hospitals. Doctors initially prescribed a blood transfusion as part of his treatment but his parents who are staunch Jehovah’s Witnesses refused the transfusion arguing that it was against their religious beliefs.
      Sources from the hospital who spoke to Sunday News said,
      The boy is not producing blood and the wound is not healing. A few weeks ago his leg fell off on its own, as it was rotting and was dry. Right now he is only receiving medicine to assist him to generate blood but it appears to be futile. His parents refused him to undergo a blood transfusion, saying it was against their church doctrine.
      We are not God and neither do we have the ability to see into the future but the boy doesn’t have much time to live.
      The minor’s mother is reported to have mounted guard at his bedside to ensure that the hospital does not go against their wishes.  UBH clinical director Dr Narcisius Dzvanga confirmed the issue telling the Sunday News,
      It is their religion and as a hospital, we respect their wishes. The boy is getting injections to help generate blood but his parents are adamant about getting a blood transfusion. As doctors, we cannot determine much on the boy’s life.

      The FC Cincinnati stadium site in the West End is growing to the north, increasing its footprint to approximately 16 acres, new plans show.
      The team is in the process of working with the Port Authority, who will own the stadium, to acquire John Street land where the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall now sits. The new area also includes two properties on the south side of Wade Street, all of which is just north of the currently-approved stadium site.
      The Wade Street properties were thrust into the spotlight last week when residents in one of the buildings complained about being pushed out, including 99-year-old Mary Page. The team has agreed to help Page relocate.

      Estonia has banned two “Russia 1” journalists, Elena Erofeeva and Pavel Kostrikov, from entering the Schengen zone for the next five years because of a film about the religious organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses, reported the Estonian Public Broadcasting Corporation, referencing the annual report of the country's security police.
      The report states that the journalists had obtained their visas at the Italian and French embassies. They first went to Finland and then took a ferry to Estonia to begin preparing an item for the program “Vesti” that “mocks and incites hostility towards the activities of this religious organization”.
      According to the Estonian special services division, the journalists had used hidden cameras to videotape the Jehovah's Witnesses community in Kesklinn, Tallinn. The clip was used in a report that included shots of “a similar nature” taken in Finland.
      The Estonian police claimed that Erofeeva and Kostrikov’s activities could be interpreted as discrimination on the basis of religion and could lead to the incitement of hostilities

      MATEHUALA.-  Por medio de una rueda de prensa, los ministros de los Testigos de Jehová, Joel Hernández, Antonio Banda, Anderson Hernández y Gerónimo Hernández informaron que se llevará a cabo la conmemoración anual de la muerte de Jesucristo el próximo viernes 19 de abril,   evento de alcance mundial con participación de más de 100 países donde se hablan más de 600 lenguas entre idiomas y dialectos, que incluyen el Nahauatl de México.
      Manifestaron que dado que se registra la participación de muchas personas con discapacidad dentro de esta conmemoración de la muerte de Jesucristo, habrá una celebración especial  con el lenguaje de señas, evento que tendrá lugar en el salón del Reino de Ocampo y Libertad en punto de las 7:15 horas.
      Añadieron que el mensaje previo a la conmemoración se realizará el 14 de abril con el tema “esfuércese por conseguir la vida que realmente es vida”,  también se tendrá un intérprete de señas, actividad que tendrá 3 horarios diferentes 9, 12 y 4pm salón del reino de los testigos.
      Señalaron que la conmemoración anual de la muerte de Jesucristo tendrá a bien llevarse a cabo en salón los portales. Xicoténcatl 726 salón y luna y salón el cielo y salón Family, además del salón del reino en la  colonia República y en el Salón de reino en Ocampo.
      Finamente exhorta a toda la población en general a acudir a la conmemoración anual de la Muerte de Jesucristo, sean o no Testigos de Jehová, están todos invitados, y en estas actividades ellos no hacen colectas.

      More than 70 victims of sexual abuse within the Jehovah's Witnesses have come forward with their stories since the public network aired a documentory about it last week, reports the nonprofit organisation Reclaimed Voices Belgium.
      The documentary brought to light that the organisation had been covering up sexual abuse of minors via an internal 'disciplinary' system for years, concluded Pano. That way, none of the claims were reported to the police. One of the witnesses in the documentary was very straightforward in calling it "a paradise for paedophiles".

      According to CIAOSN, an independent centre set up by Belgium's Department of Justice to study sectarian organisations, there are similar findings in 12 other countries. The report concludes that the issues in all other countries are the same. Due to the strict hierarchy of the organisation, it's very difficult to come forward, reports CIAOSN.

      The elders of the organisation usually don't listen to the victims, or don't help them. They usually tell them to keep their mouths shut, said one of the witnesses. "I was told to keep the abuse to myself. 'We don't want to slander God's name.' I had to trust them to take care of it. They told me to pray some more and everything would be fine."

      Jehovah's Witnesses disapprove of sexual abuse, but they don't have any policies to prevent it or report it to the police. Victims that quit the organisation are ignored completely and lose all social contact. Another issue that returns frequently in CIAOSN's report is that victims have to give their statements about the abuse in the presence of their abusers. If the accused denies involvement, they'll only further the investigation after two other witness statements. In all these 13 countries, there is not one woman involved in the internal disciplinary system.

      "Noteworthy is the number of people that talk about the severe psychological damage that the exclusion by the community brings with it," the statement of Reclaimed Voices Belgium said. "In conversations we've had with victims so far, it seems that the trauma caused by the exclusion that follows when a victim speaks up about the abuse has an even bigger impact than the abuse itself."

      On March 26, 2019, FSB investigator Sergey Bosiev charged Artem Gerasimov, who had been previously detained for interrogation during a search of eight houses in Alupka, Gurzuf and Yalta (Crimea), with organizing extremist activities (Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code).       In February, a Russian court sentenced a Danish citizen who was a legal resident of Russia to six years in prison for such an extremist offence as organizing other Witnesses to shovel snow from their church’s property.
      A month later, Sergei Skrynnikov, a Russian and allegedly a Jehovah’s Witness, was charged with “participating in an extremist organization,” an offence under Russian law that could earn him up to six years in prison. Jehovah’s Witnesses have been fleeing Russia and seeking asylum in Germany and Finland to escape such harsh sentences.
      In China, state authorities harass Jehovah’s Witnesses and raid their meetings. Authorities also deport foreign Witness missionaries from countries such as South Korea.
      South Korea has only recently dropped a 2003 law prohibiting conscientious objection to fighting in its armed forces, a law that confined young Witness men — as well as other men — to jail.
      All these states violate international laws that protect religious freedom, including the freedoms of unpopular minorities. Article 18, 1 of the 1976 United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights protects everyone’s freedom to “have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice” and “to manifest his religion or belief in worship, observance, practice and teaching.”
      A long history of persecution
      Jehovah’s Witnesses were among the first groups the Nazis persecuted. There were about 25,000 to 30,000 Witnesses in Germany in 1933. About half of those who did not flee were convicted of various crimes and between 2,000 and 2,500 were sent to concentration camps, where about 1,000 died. About 250 were also executed.
      Some years ago I met a Jehovah’s Witness in the city where I live who told me the Nazis had beheaded his grandfather. Germany’s Jehovah’s Witnesses were not merely passive religious group that refused to adopt the Nazi ideology: they also actively tried to expose Nazi atrocities.
      In the 1960s and ‘70s in Malawi, entire villages of Jehovah’s Witnesses were burned, and many villagers were raped, tortured or murdered as they tried to flee. Their crime was refusal to participate in rituals of loyalty to the newly independent Malawian state and its president, Hastings Banda.
      The Malawi government denied me a visa in the early 1980s when I told its High Commission in Ottawa that I wanted to know what had happened to these Witnesses for research for my book, Human Rights in Commonwealth Africa.
      Many Witnesses in Rwanda, both Tutsi and Hutu, lost their lives during the 1994 genocide, many trying to hide people at risk of being murdered.Even now, Rwandan authorities expel some Witness children from school and have fired some Witness teachers because they refuse to sing the national anthem or participate in religious training.

      Here in Canada, Jehovah’s Witnesses have not always enjoyed their rights to freedom of religion and expression.
      During the Second World War, Witness children were banned from schools in several locations because they would not salute the flag, sing the national anthem or repeat the pledge of allegiance. A Witness father sued the Hamilton Board of Education on behalf of his two sons, who had been expelled from school in 1940. In 1945, the Ontario Court of Appeal ruled in favour of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, saying the Board was required to excuse students from participating in religious exercises to which their parents objected.

      Local and federal authorities are investigating a string of acts of violence against Jehovah’s Witness houses of worship in Washington state ― including multiple suspected arsons.
      The latest attack gutted a Jehovah’s Witness building in the city of Lacey, near Olympia. The fire reportedly broke out . No injuries were reported, but the building was deemed a total loss, .
      The Seattle division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has . 
      BREAKING: A fire has destroyed the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lacey. This is the SIXTH attack on Kingdom Hall’s in Thurston County since March. Five fires, one shooting.

      The fire in Lacey brings the total number of attacks in Thurston County against Jehovah’s Witness centers, called kingdom halls, to six this year, . In March, arson caused minor damage at kingdom halls in Tumwater and Olympia. Four months later, a blaze worship space. In August investigators discovered a fake bomb at a kingdom hall in Yelm, . The incident was determined to be an attempted arson.
      In May someone shot about 35 rifle rounds into the Yelm center, causing more than $10,000 in property damage, .
      Jason Chudy, a spokesperson for the ATF’s Seattle field division, told HuffPost that the organization believes all the incidents could be related. The attacks were probably “meant to send a message,” he said. 
      “We believe that the suspect or suspects has or have a grievance related to the Jehovah’s Witness community, or about another issue they think is important,” he wrote in an email. “Before these fires, the person or persons involved are likely to have shared these strong feelings with others through comments and conversation.”
      Chudy said the ATF also believes that the suspect or suspects may have exhibited changes in behavior in the hours, days, weeks or months since the fires, including unexplained injuries, changes in normal routines and dramatic and unexplained altering of physical appearance.
      The ATF is investigating the incidents, along with Thurston County police. Investigators are offering $36,000 in combined rewards for information that leads to a suspect’s capture. 
      During a press conference on Friday, Thurston County Sheriff John Snaza urged the public to call in with tips.
      “It makes you feel really ill,” . “How frustrating is it that people who find a solemn place of worship, and now it’s being destroyed?”
      Dan Woollett, a member of the kingdom hall in Lacey,  that the important thing is that congregants are safe.
      “It’s just a building ― buildings can be replaced,” he said. “Things can be redone. So we just move ahead with the ministry that we have that we’re involved with.”

      A young Jehovah's Witness in her twenties remains in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of San Jorge Hospital in Huesca, without the specialists being able to carry out a blood transfusion to try to save her life due to the instructions that the patient left before being intervened. The facts, released by the Heraldo de Aragón, were put this week in the knowledge of the court of guard of the capital of Aragon by one of the doctors of the UCI hospital HOSPITAL before the impossibility of consulting directly with the patient.
      After being operated on a few days ago, the girl suffered acute peritonitis that led doctors to induce a coma and to consider the need to carry out a blood transfusion. However, the patient left written in her living will and, according to her beliefs, her position of absolute rejection of blood transfusions, which Jehovah's Witnesses do not accept for religious reasons.
      Sources of the Superior Court of Justice of Aragon (TSJA) reported on Thursday that the holder of the Court of Instruction No. 1 of Huesca received the medical report while he was on duty and was warned of the refusal of the young woman to a transfusion, under of the Patient Autonomy Law. According to these sources, the magistrate, in view of the documentation provided, resolved to dismiss the claim on the understanding that there was no legal problem in relation to the patient's situation.
      These sources, in addition, do not make any reference to the position of the family of the young woman regarding the situation in which her daughter is currently. On the other hand, the Prosecutor's Office of Huesca, after receiving the report from the specialists of the ICU, decided not to intervene after assessing that the patient is of legal age and is entitled to make a decision regarding the medical treatments to be received.
      According to other judicial sources informed to Efe, the court of guard today in Huesca would not have received any other written referred to the case, reason why the specialists lack of options to be able to carry out the advised transfusion. These sources have pointed out that this case is not the only one that has been registered in the Aragonese Community over the last few years in relation to Jehovah's Witness patients, whose beliefs lead them to reject the mixture or intake of blood.
      This case occurs 25 years after the death of 13-year-old Marcos Alegre, deceased after his parents, residents in the Huesca town of Ballobar, did not accept that his son received a transfusion that specialists considered necessary to save his life. In the context of a debate that leaped into the media, the parents were acquitted of the crime of imprudent homicide that the prosecution charged them with, but were sentenced two years later, at the request of the public prosecutor's office, with a penalty of 2 years and 6 months. prison for these facts.
      Finally, the parents accepted a government pardon, before being definitively acquitted by the Constitutional Court, which based its decision on the right to religious freedom. This situation, previously assessed by the Board of Prosecutors before filing their appeal before the Supreme Court, motivated Circular 1/2012 of the State Attorney General's Office, referring only to the cases of minor Jehovah's Witnesses who reject blood transfusions. This circular urges prosecutors to explore all legal avenues at their disposal to try to save the lives of these minors whenever there is a medical possibility that allows it.

      Una Riley, 67, of Akron, passed away on March 20, 2019. Una was a member of Akron Central Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She retired from FirstMerit Bank after 15 years of service.

      Una is survived by her loving husband, Tyrone; siblings, James (Connie) Mathews, Otha Loftin,David (Candace) Mathews, Marilyn Oliver, Walter Mathews, and Harold Garrett; honorary son and daughter, Daniel and Lenora Lewis; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

      Una was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Francine; parents, Howard and Otha Garrett; and siblings, Gloria Johnson, Harry Mathews, and Barbara Gibbons.

      The family would like to thank everyone who supported them during this time of sorrow. A special thank you to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice, and Una's caretaker, Tammy, and special friends, Charlotte Holling and Alesia Stevens.

      A memorial service for Una will take place on Sunday March 31, 2019 at 2pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1170 Eastwood Ave, Akron, OH 44305.

      On Tuesday, we asked ex-JW activist Lloyd Evans about the Jehovah’s Witness view on climate change, since it’s an organization so centered around the idea of global catastrophe. Lloyd explained that because the planet was in Jehovah’s hands, Witnesses tended not to be concerned about environmental issues. We then received a rebuttal from Rob, a Witness who disagreed, and we’re very happy to publish his message to us, with his permission…
      The main point I am rebutting is this quote from Lloyd: “Jehovah’s Witnesses mostly have a very laid back approach to environmental concerns. They point to issues like global warming and damage to the environment as evidence that humans are incapable of ruling themselves….”
      Jehovah’s Witnesses, in fact, do have an active interest in environment, and encourage members to take action to reduce the negative affects we have on the environment. Consider one of our journals, the Awake! magazine, from 2007:
      The Bible assures us that every trace of the damage caused by man will be undone when God ‘makes all things new.’ (Revelation 21:5) However, we should not conclude that since God will in time restore the earth, our actions now do not matter. They do!
      That article further states that we are not indifferent to the earth’s plight:
      Jehovah God made the earth to be a gardenlike home for mankind. He pronounced all of his work to be “very good” and assigned man “to cultivate [the earth] and to take care of it.” (Genesis 1:28, 31; 2:15) How does God feel about earth’s present condition? Clearly, he is deeply offended by man’s mismanagement, for Revelation 11:18 foretells that he will “bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” So we should not be indifferent to the earth’s plight.
      Lastly, steps are given in this same article that we can or should take, to reduce the negative impact on our environment.
      It is proper, though, for us to consider the environmental impact of our choices in such areas as household purchases, transportation, and recreation. For example, some choose to purchase products that have been produced or that operate in ways that minimize damage to the environment. Others strive to reduce their share in activities that create pollution or unduly consume natural resources.
      This does not represent disinterest in climate change, or feigning interest in it. This is actively discussing ways to minimize our own environmental impact.
      So yes, Jehovah’s Witnesses do in fact believe that God will undo climate change once and for all, but this does not mean we are indifferent or apathetic, as the article above shows.
      Lastly, Jehovah’s Witnesses’ buildings received the highest possible rating of Four Green Globes for all seven of their buildings, for environmental efficiency.
      Really, the best way to show concern for our planet is to reduce the impact we have. Jehovah’s Witnesses build so to have the least negative impact as they possibly can.
      So whoever is suggesting that Jehovah’s Witnesses are apathetic to our environmental concerns is ignoring what’s in print, and how we construct our buildings, and the recognition we receive from authoritative environmental agencies.

      L'amour de Jéhovah nous modèle vers l'excellence de notre être 
      Ô Jéhovah, tu es notre Père. Nous sommes l’argile, et tu es notre Potier ; nous sommes tous l’œuvre de ta main. Isaie 64 :8  » Un potier a le pouvoir de faire avec l’argile le récipient qu’il désire. L’argile n’a pas son mot à dire. Il en va de même de l’homme par rapport à Dieu. Il n’est pas plus en droit de contester les actes de Dieu que l’argile du potier, qui, de ses mains, lui donne forme (lire Jérémie 18:1-6).
      Jéhovah a montré sa capacité d’agir sur l’Israël antique comme le potier agit sur l’argile. Nous notons cependant une grande différence. Le potier peut transformer sa motte d’argile en n’importe quelle sorte de récipient. Mais Jéhovah façonne-t-il arbitrairement les personnes, ou les nations, faisant les unes bonnes et les autres mauvaises ? D’après la Bible, ce n’est pas le cas. Jéhovah a doté l’homme d’une faculté très précieuse : le libre arbitre. La manière dont il exerce son autorité souveraine ne nous prive pas de cette faculté. Chacun doit décider s’il se laissera façonner par le Créateur (lire Jérémie 18:7-10).
      Et si un humain refuse obstinément de se laisser modeler, comment le Grand Potier exerce-t-il son autorité ? Pense au sort d’une argile qui devient impropre à l’usage que le potier veut en faire. Eh bien, il peut soit en faire un autre récipient soit la jeter ! Toutefois, quand l’argile est inutilisable, c’est généralement de la faute du potier. Mais en ce qui concerne notre Potier, ce n’est jamais le cas (Deut. 32:4). Quand une personne ne cède pas au modelage de Jéhovah, c’est toujours de sa faute à elle. Le Grand Potier exerce son autorité sur les humains en s’adaptant à la manière dont ils réagissent à son modelage. Ceux qui réagissent bien sont façonnés en récipients utiles. Par exemple, les chrétiens oints sont des « vases de miséricorde » qui ont été façonnés en « récipient[s] pour un usage honorable ». En revanche, ceux qui s’opposent obstinément à Dieu finissent par être des « vases de colère devenus dignes de destruction » (Rom. 9:19-23).
      Jéhovah modèle les humains notamment en les conseillant ou en les corrigeant. Voyons comment il exerce son autorité sur ceux qu’il façonne en nous intéressant aux deux premiers rois d’Israël : Saül et David. Quand David a commis l’adultère avec Bath-Shéba, il a causé du tort tant à lui-même qu’à d’autres. Jéhovah ne s’est pas retenu de le reprendre avec fermeté, il fut ainsi avec les hommes qui furent sous Sa direction. Par le prophète Nathân, il lui a adressé un message sévère (2 Sam. 12:1-12). Comment David a-t-il réagi ? Touché en plein cœur, il s’est repenti et a bénéficié de la miséricorde divine (lire 2 Samuel 12:13).
      Par contre, Saül, le roi qui a précédé David, a mal réagi aux conseils. Par l’intermédiaire du prophète Samuel, Jéhovah lui avait formellement ordonné de vouer à la destruction tous les Amaléqites et tout leur bétail. Mais Saül a désobéi. Il a épargné le roi Agag ainsi que les meilleures bêtes. Pourquoi ? Notamment pour s’attirer des louanges (1 Sam. 15:1-3, 7-9, 12). Quand il a été conseillé, il aurait dû être malléable, se laisser façonner par le Grand Potier. Mais il a résisté. Il s’est justifié, prétextant qu’il avait agi à bon droit parce que les bêtes seraient offertes en sacrifice. Il a minimisé le conseil de Samuel. Il a donc été rejeté par Jéhovah. Il ne méritait plus d’être roi et n’a jamais retrouvé de bonnes relations avec le vrai Dieu (lire 1 Samuel 15:13-15, 20-23).
      DIEU N’EST PAS PARTIAL
      Jéhovah offre la possibilité d’être façonné non seulement à des individus mais aussi à des nations. En 1513 av. n. è., les fils d’Israël, libérés de l’esclavage en Égypte, sont entrés dans une relation d’alliance avec Dieu. Étant sa nation choisie, Israël avait l’honneur d’être modelé par lui, d’être en quelque sorte sur le tour du Grand Potier. Cependant, le peuple n’a pas cessé de faire ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de Jéhovah, allant même jusqu’à rendre un culte aux dieux des nations voisines. Maintes et maintes fois, Jéhovah a envoyé des prophètes pour le ramener à la raison, mais il n’a pas écouté (Jér. 35:12-15). Son obstination lui a valu d’être sévèrement repris. Comme des « vases » devenus « dignes de destruction », le royaume du Nord, formé de dix tribus, et celui du Sud, formé de deux tribus, ont été vaincus l’un par l’Assyrie et l’autre par Babylone. Quelle leçon puissante ! Nous ne tirerons profit du façonnage de Jéhovah qu’à condition de bien y réagir.
      Jéhovah a également offert aux habitants de Ninive, la capitale assyrienne, la possibilité de tenir compte de ses avertissements. Il a dit à Jonas: « Lève-toi, va à Ninive la grande ville, et proclame contre elle que leur méchanceté est montée devant moi. » Ninive était vouée à la destruction (Jonas1:1, 2 ; 3:1-4).
      Cependant, quand Jonas a annoncé son message de condamnation, « les hommes de Ninive se mirent à avoir foi en Dieu ; ils proclamèrent alors un jeûne et se revêtirent de toiles de sac, du plus grand d’entre eux au plus petit d’entre eux ». Leur roi « se leva de son trône, ôta son vêtement officiel de dessus lui, se couvrit d’une toile de sac et s’assit dans la cendre ». Réceptifs à la tentative de modelage de Jéhovah, les Ninivites se sont repentis. Jéhovah n’a donc pas fait venir le malheur sur eux (Jonas 3:5-10).
      Bien qu’étant une nation choisie, Israël n’a pas été exempté de la correction. Les Ninivites, quant à eux, n’étaient pas dans une relation d’alliance avec Dieu. Pourtant, Jéhovah leur a adressé un message de condamnation et leur a fait miséricorde quand ils sont devenus de l’argile malléable entre ses mains. Ces deux exemples ne prouvent-ils pas que Jéhovah « ne se montre partial envers personne » ? (Deut. 10:17).
      JÉHOVAH EST RAISONNABLE ET SOUPLE
      La manière dont Dieu est disposé à nous modeler indique qu’il est raisonnable et souple. Témoin des situations où il prononce des jugements justes mais les révise ensuite selon la réaction des concernés. Au sujet du premier roi d’Israël, les Écritures déclarent que Jéhovah a « regrett[é] d’avoir fait régner Saül comme roi » (1 Sam. 15:11). La Bible dit encore que, lorsque les habitants de Ninive se sont repentis et sont revenus de leur voie mauvaise, « le vrai Dieu regretta le malheur qu’il avait parlé de leur causer ; et il ne le causa pas » (Jonas 3:10).
      Le terme hébreu traduit par « regretta » se rapporte à un changement de point de vue ou d’intention. Jéhovah a changé de point de vue à l’égard de Saül : il l’avait choisi pour être roi, mais il a fini par le rejeter. Ce changement s’est produit non parce que Jéhovah avait fait un mauvais choix, mais parce que Saül a manqué de foi et est devenu désobéissant. Le vrai Dieu a éprouvé du regret dans le cas des Ninivites : son intention à leur égard a changé. Quel réconfort de savoir que Jéhovah, notre Potier, est raisonnable et souple, compatissant et miséricordieux, prêt à réviser son jugement quand un transgresseur se réforme !
      NE REJETONS PAS LA DISCIPLINE DE JÉHOVAH
      Aujourd’hui, Jéhovah nous façonne principalement par sa Parole, la Bible, et par son organisation (2 Tim. 3:16, 17). Ne devrions-nous pas accepter tout conseil ou toute correction que nous recevons par ces moyens ? Quelles que soient les années que nous avons passées à servir Dieu, ou nos attributions de service, continuons d’accepter les conseils de Jéhovah, laissons-nous façonner en vases pour un usage honorable. 
      Le Grand Potier est notre Père. Et ne l’oublions jamais, « celui que Jéhovah aime, il le reprend, comme un père reprend le fils en qui il prend plaisir ». Alors, « ne rejettons pas [...] la discipline de Jéhovah, et n’ayons pas son blâme en aversion » (Prov. 3:11, 12).

      Bâtissons chaque but de notre vie avec amour
      L'homme à toujours chercher le sens véritable de l'amour. L'homme réfléchissant à cette vertu, il sépara cette qualité en trois phases et uni en une seule.  Les millénaires passèrent et l'homme à compris que les trois phases de l'amour sont des étapes que l'on ne peut trépasser.
      La première partie est appelé" L'Éros."
      L'éros fut le premier chemin que Dieu entama dans son Esprit ( pensée en action) (verbe) intérieur avant de faire ce monde magnifique que nous vivons. L'Éros est le feu qui nous anime dans le début d'une pensée qui nous traverse l'esprit.
      L'Amour éros est une énergie très puissante, car d'elle, d'une seule image non réalisée, l'éros active cette image en rêve, uni à notre pensée et propulse dans notre vision, un rêve ultime qui nous pousse à chercher au fond de nous, le sentiment qui nous anime puissamment.
      Nous recherchons en nous d'autres images pour connaitre d'avantage cette vibration qui se manifeste, telle un feu ardent.
      D'un rêve, l'amour de ce but te pousse à créer et fonder ce rêve dans ta réalité, construire le but ultime de ta vie.
      La flamme de Yah, s'anime en toi ( Chant de Salomon)
      Le désir sexuelle ne fait pas parti de cet Amour.
      L'Éros te propulse dans tout les côtés des variantes d'un but non réalisé, dont tu ne connais point comment construire ce but qui s'anime en toi; et même comment pourrais-je réaliser ce but?
      Quand le rêve d'un projet d'avenir est dans l'Éros, il ne faut pas qu'il devienne en nous une obsession intense. Nous ne savons pas comment contrôler notre feu intérieur de ce but, de cette vision qui anime nos pensées, jour après jour et souvent dans les images de notre sommeil, elles peuvent envahir nos nuits.
      L'amour " Éros" nous confrontes à plusieurs désirs qui nous anime et qu'avec le temps nous apprenons à assembler le casse tête de la réalisation de notre vie, les pièces maîtresses de notre rêve qui nous poussent sans cesse à trouver les outils et l'instructions nécessaires à notre cheminement qui s'accomplit pendant une grande période de notre vie, pour atteindre l'objectif premier de notre vie, le vrai but que nous voulons accomplir.
