      There is a revealing comment made on a recent organization’s video about trials JWs may face, that would test their faith and hope.  The speaker referred to these times as “storms”, using the account of Peter walking toward Jesus on the water, and how he temporarily lost faith before taking hold of Jesus’ hand. (Matt 14:22-33)   One example that he gave of someone’s ‘temporary, momentary weakness of faith’, was of a missionary couple who was sent home after many years in service.  This was referred to as “adjustments that affect our privileges in service”.  Apparently, this “privilege” to serve the organization in this capacity, came to an end. The person claimed to lose all sense of direction, and nothing in life seemed important. I can imagine how losing a “privilege” can be a demeaning experience. 
      We are aware that hundreds of people have been let go from Bethel at a moment’s notice.  Who was the source of this “storm” that these ousted ones now had to endure?  Who granted, and also removed, the “privilege” that people had thought was toward serving God? The speaker admitted that leaving the ‘comfort zone of full-time service’ can cause a storm.  It can produce fear in what is to come. It is interesting that even though the organization caused this upheaval, the speaker puts the burden on the victim, if they are at all affected by the storm and their ‘faith weakens’.  This really puts the organization on a “god” pedestal, whose decisions cannot be questioned, and who is never guilty for the suffering of others.  It aptly identifies the Beasts of Revelation that demand unwavering loyalty.  (Rev 13:1,2,11,12)
      In the event of a Bethel purge, some individuals have come to realize their entire service was to men, and not to God.  At this epiphany, they left the organization because of it. They recognized that no matter how much they gave and sacrificed of themselves, they were replaceable.  This really is no different than factory workers dismissed from their job without reason. 
      If we are faithful to God and Jesus, and obedient to His word, would we be replaceable?  Is this how God and Jesus express their love to us? (John 3:16; John 14:21; Luke 12:7; 2 Cor 9:8)
      Well, it seems obvious that there is no love in an organization that terminates people without a second thought, or the reason why.  (Matt 22:39; Rom 13:10; John 10:7-13; 1 John 4:9-11; 5:3)
      Can faith and hope flourish, without love?
      “But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Cor 13:13
      If love is missing, can truth flourish?
      "Love does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth"  1 Cor 13:6
      Putting our faith in an earthly organization that is fully immersed in this world, is folly. (Prov 14:8; Isa 2:12,17,7,8) 
      Putting our faith in men and their lusts for power and riches, is pure blindness. (Prov 26:4; Isa 2:8,9,22;Luke 16:15; John 12:40; 2 Cor 4:3,4;11:13-15; Rom 1:25)
      The leadership centralizes their faith and hope in what they have built and desire to keep building.  Yes, they have a storyline to promote to their members and recruited new ones; but it is just that – a fabricated deceitful storyline, absent of God’s truth. (2 Thess 2:9-11) It promises salvation, a concept that is ‘bought’ with one’s full commitment to the organization and its leadership. (Luke 21:8; Rom 6:16; 1 Tim 4:1; 2 Pet 2:1-3; 2 Tim 4:3,4; Rev 16:13-16) (John 7:18; 2 Cor 11:3,4,20; Rom 6:16; Col 2:8; Rev 13:1,4,7-10,11,16,17)
      The speaker used the illustration of Peter grasping the hand of Jesus as depicting a restoration of his faith.  Jesus wants us to do the same today when we leave the drowning waters of Wormwood – the apostate “city”. (Rev 8:10,11; 13:11; 17:1,2; Luke 17:26-37; Rev 18:4)
      Turning back to the ‘beggarly things’ of the world, as in the case of the missionary rekindling his hope in the organization, will only cause terminal downfall. (Gal 4:9; Phil 3:19; Rev 13:4,8)
      Many who were associated with the "Watchtower" organization, have lost cherished things, due to being cast off as wicked by their local congregation. The spiritual path each one has chosen afterward, has varied. Which of those post-"Watchtower" paths, leads to eternal life?
      What follows, are excerpts from my reply to someone who asked such questions, after his rejection of the wicked steward's wormwood waters, and his exodus from the "City" of apostate Jerusalem. He wants to know how God views these decisions, and what reward he can expect for his discernment and decisive action to cease his association with God's rebellious and idolatrous nation.  Pearl Doxsey

      Am I being too harsh to say that the organization is an unrelenting, bloodsucking iron beast?  Not in the least.  (Rev 9:1-3,7-11; 13:5-7)

Each “ecclesia” or congregation was self-governed by elected “elders” and “deacons.” But in 1914 Jehovah enthroned his King Jesus Christ, and from 1919 onward the time became due for Jeremiah’s prophecy to be fulfilled: “‘And I myself shall collect together the remnant of my sheep out of all the lands to which I had dispersed them, and I will bring them back to their pasture ground, and they will certainly be fruitful and become many.       12 This benefit of theocratic administration did not come all at once. In 1932 the “elective elders” were replaced in the congregation by an appointed “service director,” who was assisted by a group of mature members of the congregation democratically elected to their positions. But not until 1938 did the final change to strictly theocratic order take place. In that year, through the columns of The Watchtower, it was revealed from the Scriptures that the power of appointment of servants in congregations rightfully rests with the governing body of the “faithful and discreet slave” as directed by Jesus Christ from Jehovah’s temple.Hello guest!       14 In 1942 the change came. In the throes of World War II, with the change in administrations of the second and third presidents of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society,...The years since 1942 have told their tale regarding the exploits of the anointed Elisha class, accompanied by an ever-increasing number of the “great crowd.”—Rev. 7:9-17.
      On February 1, 1943, the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead was set up for training missionaries and special representatives of the Watch Tower Society to serve in all parts of the earth. That same year, 1943, a new training program, the Theocratic Ministry School, began in the congregations of Jehovah’s witnesses. At first only male students were enrolled in these schools, but in 1958 provision was made for the women of the congregations to enroll and participate.
      20 Such a theocratic view of matters will enable you always to keep pace with the organization, neither running ahead nor lagging dangerously behind. You will encounter trying circumstances. Do not be overcome by them. Wait on Jehovah and put your hope in him. (Ps. 37:34; 27:14) It might even be that reproof will be necessary on occasion. Do not become offended. If you do, you are undoubtedly taking yourself too seriously, failing to see the point of the reproof. Nor should you persuade yourself that you are of no use to the organization and quit simply because some mistake may be drawn to your attention. Rather, “my son, do not belittle the discipline from Jehovah, neither give out when you are corrected by him; for whom Jehovah loves he disciplines; in fact, he scourges every one whom he receives as a son.”—Heb. 12:5, 6.
      21 On the other hand, it may be that your advancement will be rapid. Guard against an attitude of super-faithfulness. It might ensnare you. Do not feel that others in the congregation are slow and backward. You might even become impatient with the organization. Consider instead the example of Moses, who pleaded with Jehovah to spare his typical theocratic nation when some faithless ones in the organization sinned against Jehovah and brought his anger down upon the entire congregation. (Ex. 32:1-14) Neither should you wait constantly to be directed as to the theocratic activity assigned. Eagerly assume individual responsibility and seek ways of advancing the Kingdom interests in harmony with the program currently outlined by the “faithful and discreet slave.”
      22. Why, then, should we stick loyally to Jehovah’s visible organization?
      22 The Bible sets forth every inducement and encouragement to place the theocratic organization ahead of oneself, to accept it in all its features and stick to it loyally. The theocratic pace of activity is still increasing. What Jehovah will yet require of his faithful servants on earth before Armageddon he will reveal in due time. Staying close to his visible theocratic organization is the only way to find out. Having identified that organization and God’s righteous requirements expressed through his channel, never let it go. Follow Jehovah’s faithful shepherds so that, “just as sin ruled as king with death, likewise also undeserved kindness might rule as king through righteousness with everlasting life in view through Jesus Christ our Lord.”—Rom. 5:21.

      The National Secular Society has urged Britain's charity regulators to ensure the restructuring of Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) charities does not obstruct victims of child abuse from claiming compensation.
      The NSS has raised the issue with the Charity Commission for England and Wales and the Scottish charity regulator, OSCR, after a report on BBC Radio 4's Sunday programme this week.

As part of a significant restructuring of the organisation, each congregation is being asked to dissolve its charitable status and merge – along with its assets – with the Kingdom Hall Trust. The trust is a registered charity whose aims include being a "custodian trustee holding title to freehold and leasehold properties acquired as places of worship".
      The assets mentioned on the Sunday programme included kingdom halls, which are used for worship and meetings.
      An abuse survivor and lawyers who spoke to the programme expressed concern that such a restructuring could leave JW charities unable to pay potential liabilities.
      A number of JW churches worldwide have been subject to investigations regarding their handling of sexual abuse allegations in recent years. In Australia, JW organisations have consolidated and sold properties worth millions of pounds amid a series of legal claims and a damning report from a royal commission.
      NSS comment
      NSS chief executive Stephen Evans said: "It is clearly not in the public interest for charities to be permitted to restructure in ways that may impede victims and survivors of abuse within these communities from claiming compensation.
      "We therefore urge the Charity Commission to use all available powers to ensure that the restructuring of JW charities does not impede abuse victims' and survivors' ability to obtain settlements."

      JW communities' handling of abuse allegations will come under increased scrutiny next month, when the Independent Inquiry on Child Sexual Abuse is due to conduct hearings on the issue.

      If a JW votes in a national election ... will there be congregational sanctions against him?
      The last thing I heard was in 1999 in the Watchtower that it had changed that we were now allowed to follow our consciences, in voting quoted here:

      There are clear principles set out in the Bible that enable servants of God to take a proper view of this matter. However, there appears to be no principle against the practice of voting itself. For example, there is no reason why a board of directors should not take a vote in order to arrive at decisions affecting their corporation. Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses often make decisions about meeting times and the use of congregation funds by voting with a show of hands.
      What, though, of voting in political elections? Of course, in some democratic lands, as many as 50 percent of the population do not turn out to vote on election day. As for Jehovah’s Witnesses, they do not interfere with the right of others to vote; neither do they in any way campaign against political elections. Please register or sign in (it's free) to view the hidden content. ) Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that Christ Jesus is now the enthroned King of God’s heavenly Kingdom, and they, like ambassadors, must announce this to the nations. Please register or sign in (it's free) to view the hidden content. ) Ambassadors are expected to be neutral and not to interfere in the internal affairs of the countries to which they are sent.       A third factor to consider is that those who have a part in voting a person into office may become responsible for what he does. (Compare Hello guest!       Fourth, Jehovah’s Witnesses greatly value their Christian unity. (Hello guest! In imitation of Jesus Christ, Jehovah’s Witnesses avoid becoming involved in politics and thus maintain their Christian unity.—Hello guest!       In view of the Scriptural principles outlined above, in many lands Jehovah’s Witnesses make a personal decision not to vote in political elections, and their freedom to make that decision is supported by the law of the land. What, though, if the law requires citizens to vote? In such a case, each Witness is responsible to make a conscientious, Bible-based decision about how to handle the situation. If someone decides to go to the polling booth, that is his decision. What he does in the polling booth is between him and his Creator.

      What if a Christian woman’s unbelieving husband insists that she present herself to vote? Well, she is subject to her husband, just as Christians are subject to the superior authorities.       What of a country where voting is not mandated by law but feelings run high against those who do not go to the voting booth—perhaps they are exposed to physical danger? Or what if individuals, while not legally obliged to vote, are severely penalized in some way if they do not go to the polling booth?       There may be people who are stumbled when they observe that during an election in their country, some Witnesses of Jehovah go to the polling booth and others do not. They may say, ‘Jehovah’s Witnesses are not consistent.’ People should recognize, though, that in matters of individual conscience such as this, each Christian has to make his own decision before Jehovah God.—Hello guest!       Whatever personal decisions Jehovah’s Witnesses make in the face of different situations, they take care to preserve their Christian neutrality and freeness of speech. In all things, they rely on Jehovah God to strengthen them, give them wisdom, and help them avoid compromising their faith in any way. Thus they show confidence in the words of the psalmist: “You are my crag and my stronghold; and for the sake of your name you will lead me and conduct me.”—Hello guest!       Now, all this is well and good .... but if a Brother's conscience will allow him to vote in national elections ... will he be chastised, sanctioned, or punished for the free exercise OF his conscience, by the CCJW ?
