Should We Colonize the Planet Mars?

Elon Musk wants to do so. I'm wondering if we should or not?

Depends what you mean by 'colonize.'

Scientific outposts like in Antarctica, sure.

Rich tourists, frackers and commercial geology surveyors? No.

Use up Earth's resources for commercial gain and then start on Mars? It doesn't sit right.

My answer is NO !  It can't work in many points - thats, why we got the perfect Earth for living. The Mars is too far and totally unsuitable for all alive creatures ! But fact is, they will NEVER have enough money for this weird, but interesting future idea. Humans never can live so free like on the Earth, bec. we need our 'special' air, at once after the birth. Its only UTOPIA, Science-fiction....  Maybe a nice dream for all these freaks ;o)  For me its more a nightmare, too dangerous !

I  translated  this  from  my  German  'Mars - post'  today...

SpaceX founder Elon Musk has even the vision to colonization of Mars. He could imagine to transport in around 15 years, about 80,000 people to Mars, the billionaire said in 2012 in London. Musk is known as Fantast. With its electric sports car company Tesla, he is a pioneer in the industry, and its only founded about ten years ago SpaceX rocket company has become a serious competitor for the European Ariane rocket.

Maybe not in our lifetime. Little steps. They'll likely try out a small colony on the Moon first.

Not in our lifetime and not in the next.... bec. we belong to live on the Earth ;-)  Its only the nosiness of many rich men !  My thinking is very realisric and it will never have success,  thats my opinion. All rich men are too poor, to pay such of big idea... its really only a dream !
