France reports more than 52,000 new coronavirus cases, biggest one-day increase on record

It could be related to the higher population density.
The population density in France is 3,3 higher than USA:
-France:119 per Km2 (309 people per mi2).
-USA: 36 per Km2 (94 people per mi2).
In general Europe is more dense than USA.

Last Thursday (yes, 22 October), the health minister said that "without any new measures, there would be more than 50k cases/day in two weeks" and they've already reached this number.

They thought they could control the virus while helping the economic recovery, when the test-trace-isolate system already had major problems. They're proposing authoritarian and inefficient measures, undermining the people's defiance towards the health measures. No support to telecomuting (Macron said "it isolates people", yeah it's useful in a pandemic mate) and low health protocols in schools (to avoid closing schools).
