The VOC (Verenigde Oost Indische Compagnie) was Dutch and originated in Amsterdam and the EIC was British and originated in London. They share a history of allies and war. Fun fact: due to the 80 year war with Spain. The Dutch government did not have money for military ships. So the VOC came up with a plan to sell shares of the company to fund military ships. This resulted in the first ever stock exchange. (I like history a lot)
