The name given to Daniel referred to Bel, the main divinity of Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar likely wanted to impress Daniel with the idea that his God, Jehovah, had been subjected by Babylon’s god.

Quando Daniel e seus amigos foram levados como prisioneiros para Babilônia, os babilônios tentaram fazer com que eles aceitassem a cultura do país. Por exemplo, ensinaram a eles “a língua dos caldeus”, ou seja, a dos babilônios. Além disso, deram a eles nomes babilônicos.

HOW IS IT THAT JEHOVAH “SEES WHAT THE HEART IS”?

In the Scriptures, the heart is often used figuratively to represent what a person is inside—his desires, his thoughts, his emotions, and his affections. So when the Bible says that God sees the heart, it means that he looks beyond outward appearances and focuses on what a person really is.

FAITH INVOLVES MUCH MORE THAN A MENTAL UNDERSTANDING OF GOD'S PURPOSE. 
It is a powerful motivating force that impels a person to act in harmony with GodÂ’s will. Faith in GodÂ’s means of salvation moves a believer to share the good news with others. Our prospect of enjoying eternal life in GodÂ’s new world depends on our having faith and keeping it strong. The need to keep our faith healthy can be likened to a plantÂ’s need for water.

UNLIKE AN ARTIFICIAL PLANT, A LIVING PLANT KEEPS CHANGING. 
A live plant either withers because of a lack of water or continues to thrive with a regular supply of moisture. If deprived of sufficient water, a once healthy plant will eventually die. So, too, our faith. It will wither and die if neglected.

A fé é uma força poderosa que faz a pessoa querer fazer a vontade de Deus; envolve o coração. Ela também faz com que a pessoa queira ensinar as boas novas a outros. Para podermos ter vida eterna no novo mundo de Deus, precisamos ter forte fé. 

A FÉ É COMO UMA PLANTA. 
Uma planta precisa de água. Dependendo de como é cuidada, a planta pode murchar ou ficar bonita e forte. Se não tiver água suficiente, uma planta que era saudável vai acabar morrendo. Da mesma forma, se não cuidarmos da nossa fé, ela vai como que murchar e morrer.

DO THESE WORDS NOT TOUCH THE HEART?
Notice that the peace described here results from the knowledge of Jehovah. Hence, more is involved than mere safety from wild animals. The knowledge of Jehovah will not change animals, but it will affect people.

God made man. The Athenians believed that they were superior to non-Greeks. But pride of nationality or race goes against Bible truth.

Paul addressed this delicate matter with tact and skill. When he said, “[God] made out of one man every nation of men,” PaulÂ’s words no doubt gave his listeners pause.

He was referring to the Genesis account of Adam, the progenitor of the human race.

Since all humans have a common ancestor, no race or nationality is superior to another. How could any of PaulÂ’s listeners miss the point? We learn an important lesson from his example. While we want to be tactful and reasonable in our witnessing work, we do not want to water down Bible truth so as to make it more acceptable to others.

The last book of the Bible stirs our hearts with its vision of mankind lifted to perfection. 
Revelation 21:1-4:

This has been the hope of believing mankind ever since human perfection was lost in the garden of Eden. Upright people will live in Paradise on earth endlessly without aging. This hope is solidly based on both the Hebrew Scriptures and the Christian Greek Scriptures, and it continues to strengthen faithful servants of Jehovah to this day.
