Suppose the dead nephilim by virtue of having had angelic fathers could not engage in soul sleep because these were hybrids between the elohim phylum of beings and the physical or human phylum(chordata) and so these became what we read about in the 1st century as demons searching about for bodies to inhabit. These having a hunger for reuniting with the physical. These having a hunger akin to phantom-limb pain. AI's response: --------------- Your suggestion introduces a fascinating theological and mythological hypothesis based on the idea of the Nephilim (the "giants" mentioned in Genesis 6:1-4) and their hybrid nature—the union of angelic beings (the "sons of Go…

AlanF commented quite often on this forum when he was alive. He and @scholar JW had a history going back for many years —decades—according to scholar JW. Same with Ann O’maly whom scholar JW also appeared to have communicated with for many past years. I hated AlanF’s position on evolution and complete dismissal of much of Genesis but I appreciated that both he and Ann O’maly were much more knowledgeable about neo-Babylonian chronology that I am. By a long shot. They both corrected me publicly with good evidence on several mistakes I made here while learning the topic. I always appreciate corrections by anyone, even a "public reproof."

Originally posted in 2017. Should JW's punish, disfellowship, or shun members who disagree with certain teachings? Can a devout follower of Christ truly view biblical discipline as punishment? If so, who is responsible for penalizing an unrepentant sinner - the congregation or God through his word and by obedience? It seems that there has been some misunderstanding in the past regarding the proper motivation behind spiritual discipline, which God requires in order to prevent negative influences from infiltrating the congregation. If Scripture was not intended to guide us, why would God, Jesus, and Apostle Paul refer to it as the inspired Word of God? I…

Why do modern scholars and theologians strongly believe that this prophecy has only just begun due to the remarkable events unfolding in the Islamic nations of Hamas and Lebanon. The world bears witness to the profound impact these events have on the fulfillment of this prophecy. While it is true that Israel's neighbors, such as Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, have thus far refrained from involvement in the conflict, one must consider the possibility that these nations may eventually engage with Israel due to mounting frustration and pressure from other Arab nations, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. Can the attack from Iran by a distance be included in that pr…

This topic was created from posts moved from https://www.theworldnewsmedia.org/topic/90947-forum-participants-we-have-known/ When the topic of proofreading and mistakes and typos came up, I posted the following statement, which triggered a longer discussion about Russell/1914/Chronology and the like. Mostly true. But what if Reverend E. B. Elliott made use of Reverend Christopher Bowen's chronology typo and it happened to fit Nelson Barbour's 1874 to 1914 chronology, and Russell, and Rutherford and Fred Franz all accepted it, not realizing it was based on a typo? Should anyone have pointed out to them that it started with a typo?

Seeing there is a lot of energy here, let me mention a translation issue. Still working on a commentary of Job here, and by extension, all theodicies. The last chapter of Job reads, “All his brothers and sisters and all his former friends came to him and ate a meal with him in his house. They sympathized with him and comforted him over all the calamity that Jehovah had allowed to come upon him. Each of them gave him a piece of money and a gold ring.” Only the NWT, so far as I can see, says Jehovah allowed the calamity. Every other one I see says that he brought it about. I have no problem with us believing he allowed it. Job 1 & 2 all but demands that inter…

On 7/31/2017 at 11:07 AM, TrueTomHarley said: There comes a time when one must suck it up and move on - either stay or leave, but move on. @b4ucuhear: Is that what I should have told my sister? My younger sister was sexually molested by an elder. She stayed despite that without making waves, until she started to see other things she found deeply disturbing and then she did "move on" as you say. Actually, she shouldn't have "moved on" because later on, most of the elders (the bad ones) were either removed or disfellowshipped - half of them were apostate (but that's not all they were up to). Of course nobody wanted to believe anything (even with concrete evidence)…

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. - Gen 3:16 What form of "patriarchy" is prophesied here? Jewish form ? 1st century Christian form? Catholic form? Protestant form? WTJWorg form?

Our new convention song piqued my interest as to when exactly was Jesus born. According to a Hebrew Calendar, http://www.cgsf.org/dbeattie/calendar/?roman=2bc Rosh Hashanah (Tishri 1) in 2 BC is September 29 in our calendar. The angels' joyful song probably coincided with the 'trumpet blasts' that signalled the coming of the new year. Any comments, thoughts or otherwise?

I read on another site that at least one Bethel insider is saying that the Governing Body is going to start allowing birthdays. They say the Watchtower hired a PR/rebranding firm and has a 10 year plan to roll back doctrine and policies to become more mainstream. They are supposedly 2 years into the 10 year plan. Birthdays next with blood to follow, becoming "conscious matters". Has anyone else heard this?

When my wife and I were married in the early 80s, she always had a fish tank. So we continued the tradition with a 55 gallon tank for some pretty saltwater fish, but they eventually died after a few years. Pretty while they lasted and pretty expensive too to keep replacing them, so we changed to lightly brackish water for mostly cichlids. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_brackish_aquarium_fish_species We also tried "kribensis" in the lightly brackish water, where they can live, but supposedly don't breed. But they did breed, and it was fun to watch literally dozens of little babies in a tank that also contained aggressive cichlids trying to get them and the…

It is all about money, firstly. JW Ben Elder presentation: He says "I've been one of the JWs probably longer than I can remember". Here, WTJWorg himself refuted the claims that are being made in this court in Oslo, that children are not baptized, but only "adult children". lol He is the Director of an office called "Freedom of Worship" based in Germany. In conjunction with that is his role as the EAJW Representative (European Association of Jehovah's Witnesses). When asked by the Judge what his professional background is, he answers with the words that he is the Office Director and Office Manager. The judge actually asks him about his educational bac…

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I always learned that you don't take sides in politics. In our family, this meant that you also don't discuss politics. Discussing it inevitably turns to offering opinions that favor one ideological side over another. But in a recent topic on the forum, several other JWs and/or those who have been associated with JWs brought up issues that appeared to take sides for or against the two major U.S. presidential candidates, as of April 2024. As factual commentary, this doesn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, if one favors one candidate over the other, this doesn't bother me either. But I just had a serious discussion about our (JW) vie…

I just got into JW.ORG’s Wi-Fi network. That’s because they gave me the password and I’m sitting in the lobby. In fact someone gave me a card with the code on it. All you have to do is express a need for it. Like making a donation. lol.

Attorney Matt Haverstick confirmed recently that his law firm is representing Jehovah’s Witnesses congregations around Pennsylvania on unspecified matters that are “very active right now.” - article from 2023: https://www.denverpost.com/2023/04/19/charges-put-focus-on-jehovahs-witnesses-handling-of-abuse-2/ quote from article: The 140-member Ivy Hill congregation sued Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services, asking Commonwealth Court to clarify whether elders are mandated reporters if they learn of child abuse through a confidential confession. At the mid-week meeting we had the Bible reading that included Psalm 26. We also sang song #34. It's a very beautiful melody, even though I have other favorites. What I like most about the song is that it follows the Psalm very closely. It's a good reminder that the words of the original Psalm 26 were also sung, even though we don't know the original melody. But the tune and music we use seem very appropriate for the tone of the Psalm itself. Last week, of course, we had this for the 23rd Psalm, too. And I think the same about that melody and how appropriate it is to the words of the Psalm.

Acts 10 New International Version (NIV) Cornelius Calls for Peter 10 At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. 2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. 3 One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, “Cornelius!” 4 Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. 5 Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Pet…

The Last Days… When? “But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5) The Last Days (pangs of distress) do not last for an exhaustive period of time but do have an en…
