  8. THE PRINCIPAL COURT OFFICIAL ASSIGNED NAMES TO THEM; HE GAVE TO DANIEL THE NAME BELTESHAZZAR . —Dan. 1:7 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Dan.+1%3A7 When Daniel and his companions were exiled, the Babylonians tried to assimilate them into their culture by teaching them “the language of the Chaldeans.” Moreover, the court official in charge of their training gave them Babylonian names. Dan. 1:3-7 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Dan.+1%3A7 The name given to Daniel referred to Bel, the main divinity of Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar likely wanted to impress Daniel with the idea that his God, Jehovah, had been subjected by Babylon’s god. Dan. 4:8 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Dan.+4%3A8 Although Daniel was offered food to eat from the king’s delicacies, he “resolved in his heart” that he would not “defile himself.” Dan. 1:8 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Dan.+1%3A8 Because he kept studying “the sacred books” in his mother tongue, he maintained his spiritual health while living in a foreign land. Dan. 9:2, ftn https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Dan.+9%3A2 Thus, some 70 years after his arrival in Babylon, he was still known by his Hebrew name. —Dan. 5:13 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Dan.+5%3A13 w16.10 2:7, 8 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2016763#h=16:0-18:0
Além disso, deram a eles nomes babilônicos. — Dan. 5:13 https://wol.jw.org/pt/wol/l/r5/lp-t?q=Dan.+5%3A13  w16.10 2:7, 8 https://wol.jw.org/pt/wol/d/r5/lp-t/2016763#h=16:0-18:0
  10. JEHOVAH GOD told the prophet Samuel: “Mere man sees what appears to the eyes; but as for Jehovah, he sees what the heart is.” (1 Samuel 16:7) HOW IS IT THAT JEHOVAH “SEES WHAT THE HEART IS”? In the Scriptures, the heart is often used figuratively to represent what a person is inside—his desires, his thoughts, his emotions, and his affections. So when the Bible says that God sees the heart, it means that he looks beyond outward appearances and focuses on what a person really is.
  12. EXERCISE FAITH IN YOUR HEART . —Rom. 10:9 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Rom.+10%3A9 FAITH INVOLVES MUCH MORE THAN A MENTAL UNDERSTANDING OF GOD'S PURPOSE. It is a powerful motivating force that impels a person to act in harmony with GodÂ’s will. Faith in GodÂ’s means of salvation moves a believer to share the good news with others. Our prospect of enjoying eternal life in GodÂ’s new world depends on our having faith and keeping it strong. The need to keep our faith healthy can be likened to a plantÂ’s need for water. UNLIKE AN ARTIFICIAL PLANT, A LIVING PLANT KEEPS CHANGING. A live plant either withers because of a lack of water or continues to thrive with a regular supply of moisture. If deprived of sufficient water, a once healthy plant will eventually die. So, too, our faith. It will wither and die if neglected. Luke 22:32; Heb. 3:12 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Luke+22%3A32%3B+Heb.+3%3A12 But if we give it due attention, our faith will stay alive and keep “growing,” and we will be “healthy in faith.” —2 Thess. 1:3; Titus 2:2 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=2+Thess.+1%3A3%3B+Titus+2%3A2 w16.10 4:4, 5 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2016767#h=12:0-14:0

  14. NO SEU CORAÇÃO [TENHA] FÉ. — Rom. 10:9 https://wol.jw.org/pt/wol/l/r5/lp-t?q=Rom.+10%3A9 TER FÉ É MUITO MAIS DO QUE SIMPLESMENTE SABER O QUE DEUS VAI FAZER NO FUTURO. — 2 Tes. 1:3; Tito 2:2 https://wol.jw.org/pt/wol/l/r5/lp-t?q=2+Tes.+1%3A3%3B+Tito+2%3A2 w16.10 4:4, 5 https://wol.jw.org/pt/wol/d/r5/lp-t/2016767#h=12:0-14:0
  15. The wolf will actually reside for a while with the male lamb, and with the kid the leopard itself will lie down, and the calf and the maned young lion and the well-fed animal all together; and a mere little boy will be leader over them. And the cow and the bear themselves will feed; together their young ones will lie down. And even the lion will eat straw just like the bull. And the sucking child will certainly play upon the hole of the cobra; and upon the light aperture of a poisonous snake will a weaned child actually put his own hand. They will not do any harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain; because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters are covering the very sea.” Isaiah 11:6-9 DO THESE WORDS NOT TOUCH THE HEART? Notice that the peace described here results from the knowledge of Jehovah. Hence, more is involved than mere safety from wild animals. The knowledge of Jehovah will not change animals, but it will affect people.
  16. God made man. The Athenians believed that they were superior to non-Greeks. But pride of nationality or race goes against Bible truth. Deut. 10:17 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Deut.+10%3A17 Paul addressed this delicate matter with tact and skill. When he said, “[God] made out of one man every nation of men,” PaulÂ’s words no doubt gave his listeners pause. Acts 17:26 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Acts+17%3A26 He was referring to the Genesis account of Adam, the progenitor of the human race. Gen. 1:26-28 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Gen.+1%3A26-28 Since all humans have a common ancestor, no race or nationality is superior to another. How could any of PaulÂ’s listeners miss the point? We learn an important lesson from his example. While we want to be tactful and reasonable in our witnessing work, we do not want to water down Bible truth so as to make it more acceptable to others.
  17. The last book of the Bible stirs our hearts with its vision of mankind lifted to perfection. Revelation 21:1-4: https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Revelation+21%3A1-4 This has been the hope of believing mankind ever since human perfection was lost in the garden of Eden. Upright people will live in Paradise on earth endlessly without aging. This hope is solidly based on both the Hebrew Scriptures and the Christian Greek Scriptures, and it continues to strengthen faithful servants of Jehovah to this day. Rev. 22:1, 2: https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Rev.+22%3A1%2C+2
