I also studied the truth book in 1969 and got babtised in 6 months. I was a 20 year old strong Catholic who had gone to Catholic school all through grade school & high school. I taught Catchism for several years. I had many questions for 8 years that no priest would even try to answer. I was about to give up when my husbands grandparents sent us the truth book along with a number of other ones. As soon as I read the truth book it was as if a light went on in my head. Every thing made perfect sense! All my questions were answered.

Last minute news | the first reports on the effects of hurricane Maria are received
On Wednesday, 20 September 2017, Hurricane Maria, the fifth largest hit by the United States, caused great havoc in Puerto Rico. At Present, the entire island is without electricity and the government has decreed a curfew from six o'clock in the afternoon.
So far, there is no known brother who has lost his life or injury due to the hurricane. Relief work will begin very soon. A Kingdom Hall will be used which has not suffered damage as a shelter and distribution centre.
The home facilities of San Juan suffered some minor damage. But the brothers who live there are fine and none have been hurt. Right now, there's no internet connection at the facility and an emergency generator provides them with electricity.
We are certain that the brothers are comforted to see that the organization strives to help as many as possible. (2 Corinthians 1:3).

Such a different way of doing things. When I travel for my company I rarely carry cash always relying upon credit cards or ATM machines. I can imagine the shock of not having these conveniences. It takes a lot to be a missionary, it takes a lot more to be successful at it. 

Life is hard as a Pioneer I know, please don't give up, Continue to pray and myself my congregation, Jehovah's people will pray and the hearer of prayer Jehovah God will hear your prayers. Please don't give up. Agape

POVERTY  BETWEEN  JEHOVAH'S  WITNESSES    Missionaries  today  in  HONDURAS....
Probably the witnesses of the first world as Europe or North America, let us not really be aware of the hardships suffered by our brothers from poorer countries.
We get real experiences from siblings who tell us what their day to day life is like.
Many missionaries count and do not finish the things they see, as in a really poor area of Honduras.
When someone dies in the congregation, they make a collection to bring a carpenter to make a coffin and to bury with dignity the deceased with the speech of an old man.
The missionaries brought them used glasses or magnifying glasses that they collected from the congregations of origin, because in those lands there were no opticians and many brothers can not read the publications like the Watchtower, since they are losing sight. With the glasses used they could even get a job, benefiting not only spiritually but even in their daily life.
Life there is hard, they die of simple diseases for lack of medicines. When the rainy season arrives, attendance at meetings declines due to the lack of shoes that allow them to walk on rough and wet terrain, causing them to injure their feet and die from those injuries. The people there are very superstitious, and if some sick witness family, they attribute it to have abandoned the religion of the family and abandon it. For this reason, the brothers in falling ill take care of each other.
When the pair of missionaries arrived, the brothers of the congregation of Honduras invited them to a meal. To do this, they gathered supplies for a whole week to feed them and then just watched them eat. The missionaries quickly learned to refuse invitations in a polite way so they did not see the children look hungry as they eat all the food.
A missionary was invited to a hospital to explain the witnesses' position regarding blood. They are so poor that they hardly have electricity, so it was impossible to show them the videos. The missionary had been an electronic engineer in England and was dedicated to arranging the subject of electricity in all the rooms of the hospital, if only to be able to put the videos of the organization. But from now on, the hospital liaison committee has been very well received since it already has electricity to the kitchen and the laboratory thanks to the brother.
Whole villages benefited from one of our Bible videos about cleanliness and hygiene around the house. The men who were like the heads or elders of a village asked our brothers to show the videos to the village in any meeting room or hut they could gather and the elders and the local police would ensure that they all attended. Our friends had to carry all the video / DVD players and televisions and generators in the back of their Izuzu van as well as the videos, as these people did not have any of these modern innovations. They also had to carry all their drinking water and medical supplies on these trips. They would have to drive the dry river beds to the mountains, since there were no adequate roads.
From wealthier congregations a collection was made for the missionaries to buy a battered but tough truck as they were supplied with a good car, but they stole it at gunpoint! Because the terrain is so rough, we also gave them good sturdy shoes as they used them regularly after a few months. We regularly provided them with simple ministry bags, since brothers and sisters were often robbed and robbed of their bags, even though they only learned to carry literature on them.
Many missionaries came from the rich areas and only lasted a few weeks since there was nothing that they recognized as requirements for their own way of life. Older missionaries laughed when some came waving their credit cards and asking for the nearest bank, or Supermarket and looking for a good cell phone signal. The Ministry is so different where people do not have house numbers or addresses as such, it is a clash of culture for a while.

Wooo.. this is gonna be hard!
Sean Connery is supposedly a Scotsman, with a very pronounced Scottish/English accent that is often parodied .. the same way that William Shatner's stop-and-start speech patterns are parodied when he plays Captain James T. Kirk, in Star Trek. He may live in Wales, England (?).
The joke has two parts, and is a "play on words" ... and is nested several layers deep.
It's a word play humor, making fun of the similarity of the words "save, and "shave" ... and the words "Wales" and "Whales". It's PHONETIC (how something sounds to your ears..) humor.
There are so MANY things going on in this joke that the stretch ( in English) throws the mind off balance trying to fit the pieces together, and the panic reaction of that is humor ... we laugh to relieve the pain of thinking too hard.
It's also funny just because it is so clever! (In English).
1.) There is ALSO the  parody of Sean Connery's heavy accent ....  that he would pronounce  the word "save", as "sHHave", and of course .... he has a beard.
1A.) Wales is an area of England, and the same word applies to people FROM that area ... " a Wale, from Wales"
The second part of the joke is that here in the USA, and elsewhere,  there is an animal rights and environmental activist group called "Greenpeace", with a LOT of money, whose goal, among others was (is) to "SAVE THE WHALES". They have a ship of their own and challenge Japanese Whaling ( killing whales) operations in the open Pacific Ocean.  20 and more years ago one might see "bumper stickers" on cars with the expression "SAVE THE WHALES", by people concerned that humanity was killing Earth's whales to extinction.
2.) So the expression "Shave the Wales"  ( with the letter "H") is funny (In English), because you are asking someone to shave a geographical area, or the people FROM that area, and
2A.) "Shave the Whales" ( with the letter "H") is funny because it parodies the wording of the car bumper sticker. 
It is PHONETIC humor.
So, with this  one joke you are going in about 12 different mental directions with very few words.
Humor often DOES NOT translate across languages.
Another example of PHONETIC HUMOR .... the Latin expression "Sempre ubi sub ubi" literally translated means "Always where under where", which makes no sense at in any language, including Latin and English, but because of how similar the word "where" sounds to "wear" in English, its funny for two reasons ...
1.) Latin Expressions sound so much more wise and profound in Latin, rather than English. They sound "wise", and smart.
2.) So, Phonetically, in English, it sounds like you are saying "Always wear underwear"... which is a wise thing to do, usually.
It is clever, and one of my favorites. Phonetic humor.
Now you perhaps can puzzle out the connections between bearded Sean Connery, and Whales, which do not have beards
It's a real STRETCH ....  but the mental snap back is what makes humor work.
 

These small Bibles as gifts for the convention in Seoul, Korea. You want one? I think they are good when we want to glean in God's Word. Perhaps good for travel? Maybe good in case your battery dies on your phone ? or computer ?? Or, everyone loses power and hope will never be lost! Don't forget God's Word is powerful and enjoyable to read. Read God's Word daily. Study, meditate and pray on what you learn. Your faith will move mountains! ????

MANSUR MASHARIPOV SET FREE FROM TURKMENISTAN PRISON

Meanwhile we still hope for the release of our brother, BAHRAM HEMDEMOV ,53 years old, who is
married and the father of four sons. At the time of his arrest, he served his congregation as an
elder and was a well-respected member of the community...
In May 2015 a court sentenced him to four years of hard labor in prison for holding an “illegal”
religious meeting in his home...

God’s people have used a variety of methods in order to reach as many as possible with the good news. This was especially important when ‘the workers were few.’ In the early 20th century, newspapers were used to reach large audiences in areas where Jehovah’s people were few in number. Each week, Charles Taze Russell would telegraph a sermon to a newspaper syndicate. In turn, the syndicate retelegraphed the sermon to newspapers in the United States, Canada, and Europe. It is estimated that by 1913, Brother Russell’s sermons were reaching 15,000,000 readers by means of 2,000 newspapers! After Brother Russell died, another effective method of spreading the good news began to be used. On April 16, 1922, Joseph F. Rutherford made one of his first radio broadcasts, speaking to an estimated 50,000 people.
